This is a fantastic video guys. I absolutely love the cinematography of this documentary and just the insight you guys have given to our culture. It makes me crave to live in a population like this, living in a less dense Italian-American location like Louisville, KY outside of my own family. Somehow you’ve made me nostalgic for a time and experience I’ve never lived. Forza GUI! Forza Juve! ⚫️⚪️🇮🇹

Ohhh!!! Sal. !! Thanks for the posts ? And helping to keep our New York ethnicities ? And culture alive with da public huh? I was born many moons ago ? In the Bronx and lived in the Pelham Parkway area. Plus my late Grandfather? Was good friends back in the day. With the old voice of the Bronx Bombers Mel Allen . Anyway though it's been many years since I was last in the city? I plan to go back next summer and see my old hometown.... The Big Apple ... The city ? That never sleeps huh? Sal ?? You are great ... Again? Grazie for keeping us Italians and our culture alive. I also ? Love that sweet jazz music sound. Huh? Very nice. Grazie Sal Grazie mille. Salute Arrivederci

Very few WW2, loyalty tests, internment and discrimination killed off Italian as a major language in the USA in the late 30’s to early 50’s. It was really a blow for Italian culture and you can see how now it is reflected in very few ways and often quite superficially.

The feast is great but not the best. The very best feast is the Festa di Giglio that takes place in Williamsburg,Brooklyn. This is where San Paulino of Nola Italy is honored by erecting a 80 foot tower with his statue on top carried through the streets of Williamsburg by 150 men on their shoulders. There is also a 14 piece band with singer on the Giglio about four (4) tons. Also there is a boat with another band and singer carried by 120 men. What a show. The Giglio and boat is lifted several days and nights. There is also a Giglio for the kids to carry. Of course there are many stands of foods to choose from. What other feast in America offers all this entertainment?

Saluti, pronounced "Salute" (sounding just like "salude" in spanish) is 100% how you toast or cheers in Italian culture. Also good to remember spanish and italian are extremely similar language, sharing many root words
@sicilianknicca_mickygreeneyes Жыл бұрын
80% shared grammer and vocab the degree of mutual intelligebility is as small as the genetic difference in chimpanzees and humans negligent on a scale yet incredibly different in actual scope and reality. language almost always follows the same rules overtime when changing and morphing as all languages eventually do leaving artifacts and fossils if u will in the language substrate making figli or figlio or fils in french or fìgghju in napoletano or hijo in spanish the f sound often turns into an h sound. this guy says Mediterranean world but it think he was born norway and grew up in seattle in a chinese family
@mediterraneanworld2 жыл бұрын
those cannolis did not look good, in Italy you have the coffee after, not with the dessert.
