sigon gloves, belt, boots + angelic 2x ring, amu+chest(or weap, but it's hard to beat civerb's on melee f.ex.). These pieces alone will give you almost 200MF at lv. 12, and massive AR(way better than 2x 30% nagelring, but nagel only require lv.7). But full sigon's also wrecks and if you've collected the entire set, surely you have collected some no level requirement strength charms to go with it, easily equippable at lv 6.

Sigon's is an amazing set for lower levels, in my opinion. I like doing the gloves, belt and boots - when you're poor and starting out, having 30% IAS, life leech, and 50% MF alone are a tremendous boon. The defense bonus is kind of nice, too.

Full Sigs with Angelic Ammy/Rings was a classic twinked Build for many Melee characters. (Some would even use the Angelic Sickle for the 3 Piece Angelic bonuses of another 100% MF via the Rings, +1 to All Skills from the Ammy, an additional 30 IAS from the Sickle and +50 to Mana from the 3 Piece Set bonus.) Between those 2 Sets, your character pretty much has everything it needs to blow through Normal and a good deal of Nightmare. The 150% MF should be more than plenty to find Runes/Uniques/Weapon Bases/Rares along the way to jump start your journey. Another Set based Early Game Build you would see on occasion was full Milabrega's on a Pally while also using 3 Piece Sigons (Belt/Gloves/Boots) and the 2 Piece Angelics combo.

@@JordanBiserkov You're correct to a point. Yes it does hurt the chances because more things will drop, it also allows for more of a chance to get it due to increased drops overall. Earlier game the Drop Tables for monsters are more limited and with that, the more drops coming out overall give you a better chance of seeing things you normally wouldn't. But yes, MF vs Runes success (especially HRs in certain locations and or specific enemies) will decrease the chance of seeing them due to an increased drop table and lower Rune Drop rate. Very early game/Normal, it will increase your chances simply because more items are being dropped total. Basically lower chance of a Rune being dropped for any specific drop with higher MF, but the MF then in turn will increase the items overall being dropped. This will shift much more in MFs favor the higher the MF and higher the difficulty/Act you're in for higher Rarity items compared to Runes/HRs. Prior to that shift, it will increase your chances of seeing Runes during your early game and or Normal playthrough.

Once found, this set is my go to for starting a new meelee character. It’s great because you can peel off pieces of the set as you upgrade armor, but still keep the gloves and belt for the great ias, potion slots, and life leech. Also, the armor and helmet peace gives you 10% leech which is great for an early act 2 merch. All in all a very useful set in the early game.

Very good call! That attack rating from the helmet would certainly help the Merc out esp against bosses if you're a Necro that doesn't use skeletons as often or just can't be bothered to summon them at times lol I've noticed attack rating is one area the Merc's have an issue with because their attacks are only level 15 or so and unsynergized I'd also assume

As a weapon you could use Civerb's Cudgel. Combined with some of the melee attack skills, it is really hard hitting 🙂

Civerb's is my go-to along with full Sigon's, and usually 2x Cathan's rings for even more leech, or 1x Manald thrown in there if some mana leech is needed, or 1x Angelic ring with Amulet if you happen to have them sitting on a mule. Civerb's is stronger than people might think, every time you level up (which happens fast at lower lvls) your max dmg is ramping. The literal only downside to this set is Stamina for the first few lvls after equipping full Sigon's, and then after that you can dump everything into Vitality and start fixing the run/walk/stamina issues.

I prefer the diggler for ITD and a very fast attack. Take some fire/cold/lightning (or max physical but it won't be as high) flat damage charms and tear everything up with regular attacks. Two nagel rings (regardless of their mf) are very helpful too with attack rating and damage/magic damage reductions (at low level - it's a lot of damage being totally negated!).

+3 strength LCs have a level requirement of just 2 which can help a lot at meeting the requirements of Sigon's. Sigon's is also great for the merc (except the act 3 one). The helm and armor will grant 10% life leech, something that's not easy to get on a low-level merc, and also AR per level. My mercs are usually wearing it until they can wear Vampire Gaze or a Crown of Thieves. Regarding the armor after Sigon's, I recommend Griswold's armor with perfect amethysts or emeralds for +20 to strength and another +30 to str or dex. That will help an act 1/2/5 merc a lot to meet the requirements for a good weapon at medium levels. Later on, you can switch to another Griswold's, filled with IAS jewels, in case you don't have the runes for Treachery yet. Regarding the weapon, the best low-level melee weapon is probably Civerb's Cudgel, it's +1 maxdmg per level plus a flat maxdmg bonus of up to +23 is great, until the character can switch to a decent mid-level unique. For example, Steeldriver is awesome for L29 barbarians... IAS, lots of %ed, -50% reqs and once you are L34, you can upgrade it to exceptional, making it good enough for all of nightmare. It's lacking crushing blow, but that can be fixed with Goblin Toe boots (level req 22).

I use Sigon to farm the socket drilling with a holy fire Paladin, going through normal, ends about level 24-25 when clearing bloody foothills, rinse and repeat. It's a great set for normal and helps in NM too.

I get to do the same thing, only still stuck in D2:LoD and the bots run enchant games that will cast 4k max fire dmg to your weapon, along with providing all of the waypoints when called for. It's so insanely fast to bring up a new char just for the socket quest use.

I took my zealer into the start of hell using Sigons before I finally took it off. For it's level requirement I'd say it's godly. As someone else said, throw on a couple of Angelic rings and a Angelic amulet and you are set for a long time. Just add resistance charms as needed. Another really good option is full Angelics (minus weapon) with 2 rings combined with full Deaths set. You can throw on Sigon shield for the skill boost and swap out to like a Rhyme or Ancient's Pledge. That's probably my second favorite melee starter setup. The sash with cannot be frozen is invaluable early on.

I keep a full Sigon's set on hand for new Melee builds. You do have to hit strength early, but once you can equip it you can wear it thru Normal. Best part is you can use whatever 1-hand weapon you want, and you can equip jewelry to meet situational needs like poison res in Maggot layer, or Fire res going in to Travincal.

I'ts a lvl 6 low level set. Not to be used as end game imo. For a lvl 6 set it is godly and the best one. Get strenght charms with no lvl req in order to equip the full set at lvl 6.

I love this set when leveling melee chars, I use the full thing and I have never had a melee char die on me when walking through A1-5 in Normal until I am 40+ and start switching over to mid-late game gear instead.

Angelic w/ Sigon set can take your threw nm if needed. Angelic armor,rings and ammy then rest Sigons it creates amazing stats plus you get 100 to mf starting out is huge

I like to use the full set with +4 strength gcs (no lvl req) and either civerb's cudgel or a 6os crystal sword socketed with topaz. After that I just wreck everything on players 8 until level 18, then I switch to another 6os crystal sword socketed with 6x perfect topaz. Works charms until the end of nm, even players 8 with a pally!

It's a good set, it will easily carry you through entire normal difficulty and it's not hard to farm. Individual pieces will start dropping around Act 1, but you can fully farm it from Mephisto in Act 3. My only issue with it is that one of the pieces is Shield, which can limit who can complete the set and get full set bonuses, but if you are playing Paladin for example, this is god tier on him in normal and you can easily use it from Act 1 to Act 5. Also mix it with Angelic ring and amulet for bonus attack rating and you're set for normal and maybe even Act 1 Nightmare (as long as you can find some charms or Perfect Diamonds to deal with resists)

I used to have the shield socketed with a -15% req jewel, and kept some str charms. Iirc I had 20 poison damage jewels in the armour and helm. I also had 3 socket starter weapons with the 20 poison damage jewels before moving to uniques etc I really enjoyed the walk

i like using the belt boot shield and will use those three throught norm and nm, on frozen orb sorc and socket shield with a diamond, i then use tal-eth armor rw. spirit sword, ort-sol helm rw. mf gloves, mf-fcr-skiller ammy, mf with fcr if i can find one ring, and that lets me farm easily ANY boss any area in nm with a lvl 35 charecter....same with druid.....p.s. i play d2 legacy ladder i do NOT have ressurrected

i find it VERY coincidental that not even 3 hours ago i theory crafted a concentrate barb with full sigon (fully up'd on eveything), EbotdZ, highlords, and 2x bk. it hit around 8k if you have a pride might merc with CoH and andy helm.

i normally go to act4 on another character and get the hammer from soulstone quest. you can equip that on a level 1 char. then I join a game with 7 other players and just one-shot everything for 1/6 xp bar per kill.

definitely use partial sigons a lot since its also rather common to find. only issue with partial or full set use is, it takes ages to upgrade from that, because you need to replace all set items at once more or less

Basically will just have to rely on deadly strike and crushing blow from on weapon but I could actually see this combo taking out p1 Baal or maybe even Ubers with some decent speed because that attack rating may actually trump off weapon enhanced damage when you're facing enemies that are level 110

Starting a melee char, I usually also go with Sigon early on, add in my 2 perf Nagels, and Nokosan. Takes me through act 4 almost unharmed, xcept when the oblivion knights decide to use Iron Maiden.. (haven’t happened in awhile tbh. Is that patched out?)

Isn't death's sash extremely rare? I found one yesterday and honestly can't recall if I've found it before on d2r. CNBF is very nice but both poison and cold can be removed with pots.

@@rallerufs no I find it often enough. U are also overlooking the 75% poison dam duration reduction…super nice if u are not a pally with a point into cleansing. It’s personal preference but that 2 piece set to be a lvl 6 is extremely good and you could argue can carry your character all the way through the game now that you can upgrade set items especially the belt to demonhide sash for the 4 rows of potions.

Pretty sure their chance to hit is affected by your level difference and not just the values, so not totally a fair comparison. Strength rings/ammy/charms help with getting to the strength requirements

cant use signons FULL set at level 6 though this is due cant get 75 stregth at level 6 even dumping all points to it. unless you have some charms or other pre-farmed strenght boosters for that to reach the 75 strenth for lvl 6

Can be worn as soon as act 1 normal if you dump everything in STR once you started your char just for the sake of wearing it. Easilly carries you to the act 1 nightmare. Maybe even act 2 nightmare, but unlikely beyond that. Shield is easy +1 skill Boots give decent r\w and cold res Belt can be added for additional set bonuses as you don't have many 16 slots belts early in the game anyway And yeah, 2-3 item set bonus for belt, boots and gloves is quite strong. I love Sigon set.
