Mavina’s set is awesome. I think *all* of the sets are awesome actually. I love filling Griswold’s with ist runes, Trangs in Fire facets with deaths Web with a poison facet, Aldur’s in fire facets, IK is awesome. I love the sets.

20 penetrate > 20 Ice arrow If you have multiple enemies lined up, Freezing arrow explodes every time it hits a new target. And the arrow only pierces if it hits the enemy. Therefore it is important that you have both a good pierce % and a good hit %. Holy freeze merc > Might merc/blessed aim merc You're already freezing everything you hit, in that sense the merc's aura ends up being underused. Might adds some physical damage to freezing arrow, while blessed aim increases the hit chance. Might tends to be the most used. Dex/vit > Full vit In general, you want to give a few hundred points to the dex to increase the hit chance (and therefore the chance to multiply the damage of the freezing arrow's explosion by piercing targets). Faceted mavinas/Ptopaz/isted bow Depending on whether you prefer to improve damage (facets) or improve MF (ist/Ptopaz) you can socket the bow, diadem and armor. Hustle Bow on switch > Naj´s on switch 2.6 hustle runeword can be used to proc lvl9 BoS, which allows the mavinas zon to reach 7 FPA and also makes it run faster. Have a nice day

@@ElCoco1984 with pierce, high density and multiple explosions, 40 damage becomes very high... in cow level: 40 × 3 (average number of explotions in 3,3 radius) × 10 (average number of enemies in 3,3 radius) × 2,77 (attacks per second) = 3324 cold damage per second

does burst of speed really get you to max attack speed? because grand matron bow with the 70% from this set is still at like 10fpa, and from what I see if you use highlords, your're sitting JUST at 9fpa but without fanaticism you're not hitting 7fpa

@@NunyaFukenBinnus My comment was based on the pre-nerf Hustle. You now require 140 IAS to get a GMB to 7fpa with lvl1 BoS. You get 70 from M'avinas, so 20 from shael in bow, 2x15 IAS jewels in gear and 20% from amu would get you there.

So facets probably do more damage, but not that much more. 8fpa is reached at 72 IAS with hustle on the swap. So at the very least, I'd get a single jewel somewhere to reach that bp.

I played a frost/fire with Mavs set and its also surprisingly effective at farming the WSK, just that baal is a nightmare to kill. WIth the frost fire setup I found i could just kind of farm whereever I felt like it and would let the merc and the valk handle any immunes.

I've always loved this build because you don't have to be rich to make it work and it is quite a bit of fun and really safe. Insight makes a big difference early on, the mana costs are nutty to spam that freezing arrow, but once you get it, it almost feels like cheating to just perma freeze everything

ice arrow is not very good to be maxed out, since you shoot arrows super fast and the delay on frost isn't that important. Also, the diminishing returns on pierce dont justify all the points on it. Same goes for critical strike. a couple points + bonus is enough. You could put those extra points on fire arrow and exploding arrow + 1 in decoy and valkyrie and you have a character that can solo hell easily all over the place.

@StavroGavro cold sunders do change the build a bit too. I havent tried P8. I didnt think this was viable at P8. But for soloing Hell, fire arrow+ explosive arrow is not that bad against cold immune. That is in P1. It just a different build, I wish bowazon were stronger, like when back in the day when guided arrow+ pierce would tear all the bosses and you could carpet the map with multishot. Today that build is quite expensive.

Been playing with this set for a while, I recommend some cold facets on socketable items (for the slow but powerful version), with the option of using a Cham on the diadem (so you don't need the Raven ring) and/or Shael/any 15% ias jewel on the bow (next break points are 35% and 56% IAS I think, diadem already gives a 30%) for the faster shooting build. Also, bow skillers and small/large lvl83/61 cold dmg charms will help a lot with damage output.

I hadn't played an amazon in many many years (I mostly play druid with a few necro and sorc sprinkled in... after 20 years it's easy to know what you like) but I actually leveled a lightning javazon this season and had a blast, but in truth frost amazon is something I've wanted to play since those early days but for some reason I just never actually did. I built a Mav Bowazon with secondary skills in Exploding and Immolation arrow. I really enjoy it. Not a P8-crushing build but plenty of safety and works everywhere. The gear is not stuff you can self-find (unless you're going to spend a lot of time farming), so if you're happy to trade for it you'll do fine.

So there is an actual use case for M'avina's set! The ice maiden build is very underrated. I built one on ladder this season, but not with this set. It was the first time I've ever done this build and it was a lot of fun. For some reason, it's extremely satisfying to watch the mobs explode into ice cubes and to hear the ice cube effect when it happens.

Im using mavina set with windforce as secondary and act 1 merc with faith. Diadem and armor socketed with 15/39 15/37 ias and dmg. And enhanced and Max damage in the bows. This has allways been my prefered spec as bowazon. However i would recommend an ice-runeword instead of infinity if we talk about spending high runes. It rly makes stuff go faster. Other than that, can only recommend this build. U can even play it without the set as a league starter build and get the set along the way.

I put 3 low ice facets in it and holy smokes it decimated cows/ chaos/ terrorized wordstone with gloam packs. It's insane and honestly it's pretty attainable.

So I just worked on this and I noticed that the only thing that the "ICE ARROW" does is increase the time frozen, it increases by .2 every 2 stats so the full 20 pts increases the freeze time from 2-4 seconds. I suppose it is double the amount. But I think you can maybe use those points for other skills. Maybe max out Crit Strike, or send them into Valk for a second Follower. Any input on this?

Amazon using cold damage is a very effective character. It feels like its a few steps ahead of any other character and build. I still did not find the armor for this set and I actually play my cold damage Amazon (90lvl) in Tal Rasha's belt, mask (socketed) and armor (socketed) (that coupled with other gear gives me MF mounting up to 334 without weakening character and with achieving between 50% to 60% on all the elemental res, and 10% life and mana leach), and even I allocated a lot of points into exploding arrow, to have a balance again different scenarios with different immunes... Even then my amazon is able to kill most of the mob in three to five shots (using Matriarchal bow with Harmony). It is pretty insane and all from the distance with the help of the Valkyrie. I believe that Cold Damage on Amazon gets ahead of anything in this game (in terms of the fast killing of the crowd) - in my personal opinion..

I would also take back some points from critical strike, pierce and ice arrow so that I can use some other non-cold skill, for the inmunes. And at least 1 in valkirie to help with cold inmunes and more fresh meat. But love the build and will try. Also, the MF is really very decent. Insight on the merc for the poor people like me and less worry about the mana.

Finding all 5 isn't going to be simple at ladder start. In fact, I'd argue that it'll be easier to get a non eth titans or tgod and then just bung on the usual ias crud you find along the way. It's definitely a viable build, but it isn't efficient when you combine finding/trading for all components vs the alternatives. IMHO it's something to respec into mid season for something different to do.

i have an ice arrow zon. i use magic arrow as a swap for immunes. i use harmony merc just for the speed -wouldn't it be cool if the bow could drop as a spear also, -i wish the bow was matriarchal also. would be better suited for an ice build which is what the set projects itself to be for(20 faster attack>that extra damage)

Mav set is great, i played thru the first ladder with one, the mf on the set works. i kept a harmony on switch instead of a naj's. better for running around in town aswell.. my extra points instead of crti, i put into multi arrow and one into guided.. you will find you run out of mana quckly when spamming ice attacks. so multi shot would act as a fast regen.. i could clear chaos sanc with this zon just mavs set and a druid torch lol

On the passive tree, once you reach so many +skills, it is a huge waste to have so many points in critical strike and Pierce. Imagine half of those going to Valkyrie instead.

I agree on critical strike, but maxing out pierce isn't the worst idea. Even the difference between 80% and 90% pierce is big, especially when you have a good pierce line with 3-5 monsters in a row. 100% pierce would easily quadruple your damage, 80% is less than triple damage.

@@c4master703 you are wrong mate. What you say is very situational because lining up enemies on rows requires space, that's not happening on a lot of maps. Then what you say it actually works for single target spells, not for Freezing Arrow. Freezing arrow already hits at least 3 rows, if not more. Since you totally freeze the first rows, even if there is anything behind that doesn't get always hit, it really doesn't matter at all. In some cases the less pierce would mean the mobs behind will die almost at same time as if you had 100% pierce, just because the arrows not going through will actually allow a small stack happen behind, which will end exactly to same damage output.

@@danielandrews3878 Freezing arrow can hit multiple monsters for multiple times if it pierces. Instead of one frost explosion you get several, if the arrow pierces. That is why piercing is important. In most scenarios there are a couple of monsters in a row, let's assume it's about three of them. So you can do three explosions if you pierce twice, maybe a fourth one, if there is wall behind the last monster. Diablo2 is a lot about positioning your character and fighting single monsters is almost always a waste of time. That is why getting the highest chance for pierce is that important.

@@c4master703 ​ @c4master I know that mate. What I am saying is that in general after 3rd-4th row of monsters there is no way you have more rows of stacked mobs. You can actually see that in the examples provided in the video. And if you are not using a crossbow, then the AS is big enough to not create a noticeable damage difference. Also consider that some serious points in Valkyrie actually will help you stack and maintain position of the mobs.

You actually don't need infinity, everything is pretty much dying anyway. Act 1 Merc with harmony goes way better, so you don't need all these runwalk charms which you can replace by mf charms. Mara is actually a poor choice here as well, I got 75all res just from set+torch+mav. When sunder charms goes off lader I will use my perfect blue cold res amy with 35mf on it. With a couple of cold res charms (which can also be mf-charms) you can easily get to 300mf. And you also can socket up all your weapons with ptopaz/ist runes for bow to get to 375-400 mf

This is single player, but ya online you could rock a sunder. I don't use them so I sometimes forget to mention.

I ran this with my first ama I finished Hell with. Set is good. But my god, when you switch to javazon with starter tier equipment, you understand what fun is. Damage output is much higher although paper damage seems lower. So, whoever did not try javazon yet, please try it just for the sake of it. I have switched from full m'avina to blue jav with only +2 to jav skills, peace armor, 20% attack speed gloves, aldur boots, lidless wall and I am certain I will hunt for titan, razortail, highlords and craft another spirit for it. Try it! :)

socketing each piece at larzuk would actually make this build insane 3 shael 2 eth in the weapon, 5/5 cold facets in diadem and some p topaz or something in the armor for more MF

Bro you literally need an Infinity to even 3 shot packs on players 1... this is why people say the set sucks. Because it sucks. If you can afford 2x Bers, a Mal and an Ist, I think you might prefer to not waste it on a Mav zon.

I'd use sets more if they weren't so hard to get. Storage space is so limited that I can't just stick every set piece I find in the stash.
