At the age of 51, I graduated from college with the intent to do a career change and become a teacher. I was recruited by an organization called Teach For America, which would get me a teaching slot in an “underserved” community. We got a choice of five cities to choose from. To get buy-in from my 13 year-old son, we let him choose one of the cities from the list. He selected Oklahoma City because he had a girl from there as a fan of his metal band’s KZbin channel. Long story short, we ended up getting sent to Oklahoma City and we have been here ten years. I can relate tomIan’s story about how he moved to Minneapolis. Love your podcast guys. I look forward to every new episode.

I watch a lot of guitar-based videos, and I always enjoy it when musicians just veer off into everyday waffle, about their lives, or where they grew up, or what they had for breakfast, etc. I love listening to the minutae of other peoples lives... Especially musicians. A lot of them older jazz guys often seemed so remote back in the days. This sort of general chit-chat makes musicians seem like more fully rounded human beings. More of this please! 😊👍

Scott - love you guys but 70's was so much more than punk and disco - where does Led Zeppelin and Steely Dan fit in? Tom Petty? Chicago? Grateful Dead? And disco encompasses many different kinds of music because in the 70's recording studios were still regional - you had the LA sound, NY sound, Euro synth pop sound, etc etc.....Punk actually was not as ubiquitous in the 70's as the current proliferation of Ramones t shirts would indicate. And where would you put Kiss in this scenario?

I was a victim/fan of the rap rock invasion of the early/mid 2000s, lol Linkn Park was very popular. I think it combined one hit wonders and rnb of the late 90' and exploded with nu metal and made a baby called POD, Korn, Papa Roach, Linkin Park... Etc... Blink 182 and Green Day called themselves punk rock but where difinitively different from these post apocalyptic, guitar saturated wonder songs of the mid 2000s. These were my high schools years and some these bands tapped into different teenage angst and "we" were angry and wanted heavier darker, more "meaningful" music. Even on the radio. For example Youth of the Nation was a huge hit on radio (P. O. D.) What was it about? School Shootings.
