+Brad Wright yes. That is the only one I think I would see now. Good idea. Fuck star wars. what would it be named? Obi-Wan? It can't have the studio, marvel, safe movie feel though. it can't be loud and colorful. It needs to be slow and have dialogue and not many fight scenes. It needs arcs and obi-wan learning and it needs to not make any connections to the prequels. That scene in star wars where he says 'obi wan.. that is a name i havent heard in a long time.' obi - wan would have to have that feeling again. which was amazing. Ewan is the savior good idea.
@haroldhernandez1560
@haroldhernandez1560 7 жыл бұрын
Arcexey Call it Ben or Kenobi. Give it the Logan treatment. Or based on whatever story they have. Setting it in a western mad max like Tantoine would be sick. It could have an Old Obi wan saving a family from evil pirates or Sand People. Or flip it around and the family he is helping are Sand People. It writes itself.

creepy truck driver The problem by leaning heavily on the same characters they become overworked to the point of distasteful. Just look what they did to Darth Vader. They took a ruthless killing machine and turned him into a whiney punk bitch. Every chatacter can be generic. The original movie has several archetypes, the naive hero, scoundrel, elder mentor and heroic damsel. Throw in comedic sidekicks and play spot the difference with any story since the dawn of time. By focusing on established characters they ruin the mystique.

The correct answer for failed movie that should be revived as a TV show: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Love of period pieces + love of superhero flicks. Penny Dreadful meets Legends of Tomorrow, but with a real budget.
@guyincognito8043

@EwanMakeMovies 7 жыл бұрын
Brendan Oflaherty It's hardly difficult to be better than the prequels, buddy. People hate on TFA but it was much more of a cohesive film than the very messy Rogue One, which also had major behind the scenes problems, and I think that's because JJ Abrams had enough clout to stick to his guns in a way that younger directors such as Edwards and Lord/Miller simply don't. I know a lot of people defend Rogue One because it had some good action stuff, but at least TFA had likeable characters and didn't feel like several films taped together.

The kessel run isn't technically false, and is impressive, because the saying was the representation in which it normally took ships 15 parsecs minimum to get through it since Kessel is surrounded by blackholes. This means he decided to go through the blackhole field instead of the safe route, which means that he proved himself a better pilot.
@PushkarChintaluri

Geoff Roach Went through the black hole? and is hence a better pilot? Thats not how Black Holes work... even in the world of Star Wars
@EwanMakeMovies
@EwanMakeMovies 7 жыл бұрын
Pushkar Chintaluri no, he went through a field of black holes, not a black hole itself. Read the comment properly. Not that any of that matters as Star Wars has no basis in science...
@PushkarChintaluri
@PushkarChintaluri 7 жыл бұрын
sorry for not paying attention to the "field". its true that all this has no basis in science, but I think (and I think you would too) that it would Suck if the movie had him go through the blackhole in order to make the run in a shorter distance.

I think what sets There Will be Blood apart from the other Day-Lewis performances is that he doesn't have a gimmick to fall back on. He didn't spend his life in a wheelchair to prepare, he didn't learn to box to a professional level, he didn't contract pneumonia and refuse treatment for authenticity and all the other bullshit. TWBB is a performance where he presents a character with no kind of pretense, it's just pure acting and it stands as his finest work because of that. Sometimes, the obvious answer is such because it's the correct one.

Great fight from all three competitors. Always a joy to see Roger Barr, love your debating style. Jay, you had me with "The Boxer" against the two actual greatest performances of Daniel Day-Lewis. Brilliantly argued. Sasha Perl-Raver, I think you might be the only movie fighter right now who could match Dan in every aspect of the game: Bringing out a overwhelming load of points and facts, creativity, passion, speed talking and counter arguing. Just your nerves might be standing in your way. Be confident, you're fantastic at this game! As much as I love Mike Carlson for his unique and creative style of movie fighting I guess the championship will stay with Dan, one of the best debaters I've ever seen. But Dan and Sasha at their A-game... that would be a very close one and a joy to watch one on one for the title.

A potential solution to the "parsec is a unit of distance, not time" dilemma: The Kessel Run is a trade route filled with tight turns and several jumps into and out of light speed to avoid asteroid fields, black holes, binary star systems, or anything that throws off the gravity of an area. The shortest distance between points A and B is a straight line, but making the Kessel Run in straight line is impossible due to the obstacles. Therefore, doing the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs is not a boast about how fast it was completed, but how few detours were taken and how close to a straight line, the shortest possible distance, was accomplished.

The hilarious thing is that with WB they let Snyder do his thing and saw how that turned out (shut up), while they let Jenkins basically do her thing within the confines the larger story, and shockingly the one scene she wanted to keep was the most noted part of the movie. So ultimately I think there has to be a happy medium of what we (studio) wants the general piece to be while you (director) can make it your own.
