Tungsten is 18 grams per cc. The stuff you used is less dense than lead. The lead load was highly questionable. You could not provide its actual history. It might have been a reload because you could see past the crimp.

I did not realize till after I had bought the box of Hevi, that it was only 10.1 g/cc. I wouldn't have paid 50 dollars for them. They are a tungsten alloy blend. In most cases a bismuth based shot is heavier than this alloy. Usually in the 11 ish g/cc. The old lead shell came out of a box that I'm 99% sure was factory loaded shells. I have been looking around for some more modern shells. But with the ammo shortage it is very hard to find anything. Thanks for watching!

Hi Mitch The BB are pretty awesome what choke did you use in your gun, I would like to try the BB on coyotes !

That was just the factory modified choke that came with the Winchester SXP.

I got ahold of two boxes of #2 in the Golden Goose. I was pretty impressed with it. That 1 5/8oz is a lot of shot going down range. Made for pretty good patterns. I killed a few ducks with it too. Seemed to work pretty well. No cripples. Hopefully be able to try some on late season honkers!

Lead sleds can damage your guns. Your body acts as a shock absorber. Lead sled is like putting the butt of your gun against a solid wall. There’s no give all the shock is transferred to the gun. Damages scopes too.

How can you hope to do a fair test if you use an old shell that you have no data for?
@mitchweigel67133 жыл бұрын
I get what your saying. #2 lead is unavailable in factory loaded ammo to the best of my knowledge. #4 is the largest lead shot size I've been able to find. I was trying to find as close of a match in shot size as I could. Again I understand that there were many variables in this test. But at the time that was the best I could come up with. Thanks for watching.

Good video I'm from Italy and we are near a lead ban in wetlands so... In your test you use a very old lead shotshell can you repeat the penetration test steel vs lead on a paper target in #6 shot that is easier ti find i think 23/4 lead vs 23/4 steel
@mitchweigel67133 жыл бұрын
I'll see what I can come up with. Here in the United States ammo is hard to find with the new political atmosphere that we have. I'll see if I can come up with some number 6 steel to duplicate this test.

#2steel vs #4lead is a more direct comparison, that #2 lead seemed very old, perhaps the primer/powder was deteriorated ands not at full power
@mitchweigel67133 жыл бұрын
I wish that I had a newer shell loaded with #2 lead for this test. I came across some # 6 lead the other day. Maybe I will have to revisit this and compare the # 6 lead to # 4 steel. That way I will be comparing similar pellet weight, rather than pellet diameter. Also trying to think of other materials to test. Maybe some ballistics gel! Thanks for watching!

@@mitchweigel6713 unfortunately you will have to reload if you want new #2 lead. I have some 1970s 10 gauge 2 7/8" in #2, but the velocity is definitely diminished from where it should be.

TSS shots are supper round and smooth. I'm not sure about those TSS pellets you've had, but the one I buy for $40/lb are super fine. #9 of TSS is enough for duck up to lond distance.
