Thank you for sharing. I didn't homeschool my daughter. However, I know families who have done homeschooling for different reasons.

I think you become a good friend to many ladies who seek some kind of trusted guidance in nearly all adpects of their home responisibility. You share your everday life: shopping, cooking, preserving, organizing and lots more. I only admire you since my duties are totally different. However I am very grateful for what you do 😊

My children did Christian school, home school, and public school over the years of their education. (I do have an education degree from a Bible college.) in my opinion each child learns differently. I did use a curriculum in my home school. I would have been somewhat more flexible in hind sight in some areas, but I am satisfied with the Biblical world view and values of the curriculum. The public school they attended in their high school years was conservative and even included a literature book that had Christian topics such as ‘Sinners in the hands of an angry God”, a sermon by Jonathan Edwards. I was especially involved in what my children learned in their public school. Some children need more prodding and some are more self motivated. I loved teaching my children. But there were days I felt like a principal rather than a mother and enjoyed our free times where I could mother more. What my children took from the Christian school was the core. My home school, although a set curriculum also included many other things such as Civil Air Patrol and hands on learning - gardening, carpentry, and extensive travel to historic sites and museums. Public school provided a discipline of deadlines, a daily time schedule, but especially subjective writing skills. Sports were always part of their life - sometimes through the school - other times through the community. All my children went on to graduate from college - not that it is important for every child but it depends on their goal. One is an interior designer, artist, architect, and engineer. Two are Veterans. One has two master degrees. Another got his private pilot’s lesson and has a degree in aviation, international business. One has a masters in theology. They are all Biblically based critical thinkers. A son enjoys being his own boss. I’d go on but for time won’t. I think the most import thing a parent can give a child after a Biblical view is how to think and also hands on experience and a work ethic. It’s middle of the night here and my daughter and grandson have the stomach flu and am not sure if I will get it so will stop here. But I agree with developing each child’s interest. However, don’t be surprised if a child who does not seem to have an interest in math turns out to be a genius in math and engineering. Children also develop at different rates. I am teaching my grandson how to read. He is now m more confident in reading and enjoying books even above his level which I also encourage to challenge him. I teach both phonics and also use flashcards for sight words. I do want to add that not all home school parents just like not all Christian or public schools do a good job whether it be curriculum based or unschooled. No matter what, it is up to the parent to develop and direct each child making sure they are moving forward and not lagging. I’ve seen success in each type of schooling. I’ve also seen a high rate of immorality (deviant behavior) in children even from home schoolers in my former church. So even home schoolers are not guaranteed to lead a Christian moral life. I’m thankful that my children all love the Lord and want to live for him. With that, I feel mission accomplished.

I think the biggest point you made in this was that you cared about your children’s education. Because your heart was for what was best for your children in that season. I hope over the next few weeks to squelch what people assume is unschooling. You maybe surprised that yes we do use curriculum. If we lived in a different state my children would be able to be more involved in other things. In our state currently there are circumstances and regulations that my children can not be involved in the school system and or college. When my older children were younger it was different some children took band and other things now it is against the law. Odd that more that half of my taxes still go to the school though. Anyway I can fix all the problems.

@@mommabear2many I agree with what you are saying. I explained our situation at the time since we were a military family living in various places. I was willing to sacrifice and cut corners financially so I could be home with my parents. I did take jobs like cleaning, church secretary, and substitute teaching in a Christian school when I home schooled and brought my children with me. Sadly, not everyone has the opportunity to home school and some are not willing to sacrifice financially to do so. We lived very sparse and lived off our garden as well as traded meat with the Amish for things they needed. We didn’t eat out. We didn’t buy used clothing. I didn’t buy processed foods. Money was tight, but I was able to home school for that season. My kids started their 1st couple years in a Christian School where taught. I brought my 4 year old into the classroom with me. When they were in the public school in their teen years I was very involved so I knew what was going on in the classroom. I knew their friends who came to our house. I brought them to school and picked them up after school. So no matter where they went I was the parent. My husband wasn’t home much so wasn’t involved.

Used to be homeschooling was you followed your states rules and curriculum for each of the child you homeschooled or it was for very ill children that couldn't go to school in person because one little germ could make them wind up in hospital think like mono or a person like ryan white who got very ill with his disease or a kid going through bone marrow transplant with no immune system Back then with the very ill kids they often sent a teacher or tutor out few days a week to go over your school work and assignments they called it homebound school in my homestate also was good for unwed pregnant teens who they often didn't allow to attend school pregnant

What if you had a chils who showed no interest in reading or writing? Would you force them to do a boxed curriculum? I know many are self- motivated , but what about the kids who arent? How do you handle those kids as a parents?

If you engage them in enough. Also immersing them at a young age they will want to learn. Usually it children who have been in an environment that is very structured that struggle. They may need a period of deschooling. Just think of a 3 year old they want to ask questions. They love being read to. The love going on adventures outside of the home. This will stay with them if given the opportunity. Building relationships with them.

If a person is religious or not has no bearing and should have no bearing on a person being employed into a position . If they are suited for the position and company is what should be looked at. I have found homeschooled children are less about social media and social status. They are willing to put their all into the job when at work and follow directions without any trouble.

I have to say that we only see a small portion of their lives. We shouldn't be judging when we don't have a "full" view and understanding of their daily life. Momma Bear does not have to disclose every single aspect of the hows, why's, or whatever's. I believe that how they raise and educate their children is a joint decision made by her husband and herself. This, however, is just my opinion.

Well seems how my channel is based around food and farming. You see about 5% of my life you must be an expert. Personally my children are allowed their own lives outside of a camera. Imagine some work outside of the home, a couple just went to go visit friends in another state. One spends a lot of time working on her latest book. I share what my channel is about and I respect my children. That doesn’t mean that what we do daily is only the 5% of what you see. I have had a son graduate from college with a bachelor’s degree. But I focus on what there goals are as people.
