Very good video mate. I can't believe this "theory" needs debunking, but a lot of people genuinely believe Glock slowed deliberately (when Toyota teammate Trulli's lap time on dry tyres on the wet track was almost identical), and still more believe that Hamilton was "lucky" and Massa was the "real Champion". The reality is that Hamilton was almost ridiculously unlucky in Brazil for a second year in a row. A 30-second gearbox stall at Interlagos cost him the 2007 title, and dry tyres on a wet track almost-but-not-quite paying off for Glock nearly robbed him in the cruelest fashion once again in 2008. #KingTimo

The fact that people think Glock let Hamilton by on purpose just shows how stupid F1 fans can be sometimes. First of all, how was Glock meant to know from a distance that Hamilton was behind him? So I was actually jumping for joy when Hamilton crossed the line, because there was no indication that it was Glock who he passed. Then the footage showed me the winner when the mechanic stopped the Massa celeb and Nicole was jumping out the pit lane. so #KingTimo i guess?

All I have to say is Max now has a car capable of fighting for a championship, and almost no one is crying about how Max's success this year is because of his car, yet that is still the number 1 complaint about Lewis. I can't help but also notice that, great car + good driver wasn't levied against Jenson Button or Kimi, or even Nico Rosberg in 2016, but appears every year, and nearly every race for Lewis. It's almost as if something about Lewis is innately different from them, off track but still race related and I'm not talking about pole position...
@pr3cious1933 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I think you also forgot schumacher having a dominant car during his time at ferrari or vettel at redbull and not only that but lewis always gets a disproportionate amount of outrage directed at him, take for example the crash at Silverstone involving max, max btw routinely leaves his racing line to shove people of the track and barely any mention of it in f1 circles and the only time f1 "fans" talk about it is as joke like "haha max crashes a lot lol" meanwhile the one time Lewis left his line while defending in an albeit ill advised attempt to force verstappen wide which led to a crash he got so much hate for it, so much racist abuse, I even saw some people wishing him death, the mods on the f1 subreddit were working overtime for days to scrub all the hate comments off the subreddit. And remember the crash involving George Russel and Valterri Bottas where Russel got out of his car, walked up to Bottas, who's still in his broken up car and hit him on the head and then walked away, a day later and no one was even talking about it, just imagine of Lewis had done what Russel did, oh boy there'd be a shit storm of epic proportions. Same disproportionate outrage when it comes to team orders, redbull uses team orders that favor Max over Sergio but you never hear anything about it, but the moment Mercedes uses teams orders that favors Lews over vatlteri all of a sudden they now hate team orders. When Redbull literally forced Checo to take a pitstop he didn't need in order to get him on softs and snatch the fastest lap from Hamilton, these same "fans" were happy redbull did this even though it completely ruined checo's chances of scoring any points other than the one he scored via fastest lap just imagine if Mercedes did this, you'd see a lot of these so called fans coming out again crying crocodile tears about poor valterri. It's sickening what's going on here and I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticing it.

If you actually go through even his early F1 career, you'll notice that he has been getting verbal abuse and subtle racism even during his rookie season in 2007. There were reports of a group of Spanish journalists that had made a website specifically dedicated to posting hit pieces about Lewis. The website quickly devolved into racial slurs and abusive language and was taken down after a while. Then in 2008 we got that bunch of Spanish fans wearing blackface during pre-season testing. After that McLaren began to lose their grip on both Championships as their cars started becoming less and less competitive, but Lewis kept getting criticism like "he doesn't know how to race properly" and the "best car" argument you posited. At the end of 2012, when he announced that he was moving to Mercedes, people ridiculed him for it. Just look at the reactions to that announcement on r/formula1. Then came the Mercedes dominance and Formula 1 beginning to appeal more towards social media, and the criticism began to go online. These criticisms are not made in good faith. These are dogwhistles that refer to all sorts of stereotypes about people of colour (and especially those of African descent) and it's getting harder and harder for me, and hopefully more and more people, to ignore.
@ryanjonathanmartin39332 жыл бұрын
We need to realise that the Civil Rights movement is a very recent phenomenon in human history. For thousands of years humanity has accepted discrimination of other groups based on arbitrary characteristics (race, religion, sexuality, etc.) as simply a part of life. It has been less than a century since fascist ideologies that had racist beliefs as a basis for their ideology ravaged the world and committed such grave crimes like the Holocaust and Babi Yar. Segregation and Jim Crow laws in the United States weren't repealed until 1964. For context, the first artificial satellite, now so important to telecommunications, was launched in 1957, *7 years prior*. It's sad but should not be that surprising that some remain averse to racial equality and some still have warped perceptions on how certain ethnic groups should act or behave.

Did anyone see anyone from McLaren run over to Toyota? Seems a bit specific for this to be a pre agreed agreement between McLaren and Toyota. Additionally, didn't Glock and Trulli both do 1:44's being the only cars on track with dry tyres still on?
@HighFlyingOwlOfMinerva3 жыл бұрын
To me it was never a conspiracy, just a heartbreak moment. You're driving on (probably) worn tyres on a slippery circuit with everyone else having the right tyre - of course you're going to struggle. The only argument I sort of _can_ make for this whole situation is him going slower with Traction Control. This would compare Massa and Kubica's fight at Fuji 2007 and here, showing Massa and Kubica could drive very nicely and stay on the track thanks to TC. However, as is obvious, *they all had full wets on and Glock didn't.* Good video! I guess you could also one day make a conspiracy about Schumacher's incident in Japan 1999 with him stalling and then getting a mysterious puncture which gave Häkkinen his second drivers title sometime in the future. That is a strange accident to just happen in my eyes, even today. Cheers!

In defence of the conspiracy theorists FOM didn’t release the onboard footage for like 10 years. As soon as you saw that there could be no doubt. Looking at the timing screens Glock was about 15 seconds behind Vettel & Hamilton when they pitted, leading them by about 9 seconds after the stop he was briefly the fastest car on track and actually extended that gap to 15 seconds with 2 laps to go. It was around this time in commentary that Brundle remarked Glocks times were fine and Hamilton was in deep trouble, they cut down to Ted Kravitz in the pits who told them it was raining but currently not heavily enough- this maybe have been true for the pit lane at that time but the rain was mainly coming over the back of the circuit and it was about to get heavier. 2 laps to go was the turning point, Timo went fast through S1 but was cancelled out in S2, before going a full 3 seconds slower than Hamilton in S3. It’s worth noting that he still went 5 seconds faster than team mate Trulli on this lap. With a 12 second lead going into that final lap he lost 3 seconds again in S1 and a devastating 9 seconds in the long S2, at this point Vettel and Hamilton could see him. Even though Hamilton only got past on the final corner he was able to pull another 5 seconds on Timo before the short run to crossing the line. Glocks lap time of a 1:44 matched Trulli which rules out any kind of foul play. Trulli also initially gained but then lost a place to Heikki Kovalainen. At no point did Glock have anywhere near enough of a gap to pit and maintain position, meaning if he had pitted then all the drama would have been removed and Hamilton gets an easy 5th. Staying out was objectively the correct thing to do, risky but faster. Glock went from being about 15 seconds behind Hamilton to 5 seconds behind and gained positions. Some fans say it was unlucky and if it had only rained a lap later Massa would have been champion, but if it had rained a lap later it’s less likely McLaren would have pitted Hamilton. In the end you have to bend time and space to your will and keep everything else the exact same apart from the weather, including keeping how everyone acts to the new weather the same as before. At this point is it really unlucky? I’d argue if he had lost the title in this fashion Hamilton was the unlucky one, losing the title because of a faulty weather report and wrong strat call.

Honestly. The real conspiracy is Brazil 2007. Hamilton’s gearbox failure is still somewhat a mystery today. Paddy Lowe in an interview said that a bit of debris got caught in a filter causing the gearbox failure, and that the failure solved itself after about 20 seconds when whatever it was stopped blocking the filter. That however wouldn’t explain why McLaren were so incredibly secretive about the whole thing. Neither them nor Hamilton have properly addressed what happened which as led to deeper conspiracies. Supposedly McLaren hurt Hamilton’s race on purpose to hand the title to Ferrari in an deal to avoid repercussions for spygate. Not saying any of this is real though. It seems to me that Kimi won the title fair and I wouldn’t argue otherwise be as the evidence we know of doesn’t support it.

Looking for to see 2021 Abu Dhabi gp as a conspiracy theory in a few years. 2008: Is that Glock? 2021: No micheal no, this is so not right.

Watch the last lap from glock’s pov; he’s barely keeping the car on the track. Can’t see how he could go faster and would be impressed if he’s working out the numbers and placings in his head while trying to control the car!

Felipe is my boy but the rain getting heavier at the wrong time is what made Timo struggle with those dry tires in that last lap so as much as it heartbreaks me, Timo really didn’t do anything wrong #KingTimo And P.S I might as well just blame Crashgate as the reason why Felipe lost that title because he was leading when Renault put their race fixing strategy in place

Some fans will look for a conspiracy anywhere.... People say Glock cost Massa the championship, but I posit that it was Massa's back-to-back retirements in Australia and Malaysia.

Timo Glock was NOT friendly with Hamilton at the time. Hamilton put Glock off the road at Monza and Timo was not impressed. Unfortunately it was Singapore that cost Felipe the championship, not Brazil.

Timo Glock has probably the worst kind of fame in F1. Being known for getting overtaken once. A bit like Ricardo Zonta...or Nico Hulkenberg...or Nick Heidfeld. I realise there are a lot of german drivers failing to have success in F1.
