Just bought a 2003 Azure blue Mach 1 yesterday. Unfortunately I'm in Ohio so it will sit in my garage all winter. Thanks for your multiple Mach 1 videos. Funny enough, I looked at several Mach 1s online that were fairly close to me, and I ended up buying the only automatic I saw. I think only like 280 Azure blue automatics were built in 03. Mine has 47,700 miles. All original except a K&N intake and cat back exhaust and rear wheels were replaced with 17x10 to fit a 275/40/19 tire

If you think about it, this was a parts bin special. 2001 Bullitt brakes, instrument cluster, and rear quarter window moldings. Engine was an upgraded version of the 2001 Cobra engine with revised cylinder heads and cams to boost low end torque. Suspension was also borrowed from the 2001 Bullitt providing a 1/2” lower stance. Factory lower chassis subframe connectors were also standard. Available with either the Tremec TR3650 5 speed or the 4 speed auto. Unique to the Mach 1 was the shaker hood and intake assembly, interior Lear retro leather seating surfaces, and an open grill with the floating pony and lower black front valence to give a lower appearance. Rear spoiler was taken from the GT but is not painted with its natural dark gray color. Between this model year and the final 2004 model year, 2004 came with 40 year anniversary badges in place of the running pony fender emblems and cam covers were in natural aluminum rather than the black powder coat in 2003. This car also appears to have aftermarket stripe on it as all black cars came with flat black ghost stripes which were difficult to see and a few owners restriped their cars in other colors such as red and gold. The original stripes were all flat black, bit the rocker molding stripes had a fade effect towards the rear. Aftermarket stripes were usually solid colors. These cars had 305 hp and 320 ftlbs torque from the factory. Today’s Ecoboost Mustang would easily outperform this V8 and the Coyote would send it to Gapplebees. But this car and the Terminator Cobras became the foundation for Ford 4 valve performance, each iteration becoming better and better. I owned a 2003 Torch Red manual and it was a great car. Great video Joe, would be cool to get a test drive of these cars. Yeah they weren’t Terminators but they are still unique and are a part of Mustang history. Take care and all the best.

Pleaseeee I’ve never got beat by ecoboost these cars were underrated and ecoboost is weak stock trust numbers mean nothing
@lancemannion4113 Жыл бұрын
No, as quick as the ecoboost is, it's significantly heavier. And with the live rear axle these will hook up better with judicious use of the throttle. These are easily mid to even low 13-second cars right off the floor. And there's no way a stock ecoboost is going to get that. And believe me, I'm not slamming the new Mustang with that engine as they are surprisingly potent and a great compromise if you don't want to shatter earth with the V8. But this generation of the Mach 1 was absolutely no slouch. But yes, any coyote will wipe the floor with it!

It was around 2009, I was driving home one day and passed a local used car dealership down the street from my house, and there I spotted, what was at the time, my dream car.. a 2003 Mach 1 Gray. I turned into the lot, got off the car and asked the woman who owned the dealership if I can see the Mach. My intentions were only to pop the hood so that I can admire the engine, sit in the car, row the gears, and daydream for a few minutes. And to my surprise, the woman asked me if I would like to take the car to the gas station and put 10.00 in it... Can you believe it!? Stepping on the clutch and turning on the car almost gave me a mini MI. There was so much emotion for everything prior to that was just pictures and articles in mustang magazines. I took the car for a cruise around town, and I can still remember how much I was smiling throughout lol. The 4.6 DOHC was such a pleasure to drive and so satisfying due to the feedback that you get from a V8. It was cool to see the Shaker hood from behind the wheel. I put 15.00 on the car and had a pretty good year after that haha. I still, and will always have a whole lot of love the ‘03-’04 Mach 1’s & the ‘01 Bullitt (I have never had much interest in the ‘03 Terminator), but now my heart is set on my new dream car, a mid-late 2020 GT PP1 Gray (w/ spoiler delete and MT), awww yeah! :D thanks for showing love to the Mach, she deserves it. Archaic chassis with a great drivetrain. I owned a 99 SVT Cobra and my 2004 STi embarrassed it in every way except a straight line but even then, above 125 it was NOT stable. Interior build quality was HORRIBLE.

I had a 69 Mach 1 back in the 70's but it was Stolen! SMDH!...Meanwhile, I had a 2003 Mustang GT that I fixed up like a 2003 Cobra with a 5sp Manual Trans! But I would like to get a Daily Driver with the 4sp 4R70W Auto Trans! (I am a Left Leg Below the Knee Amputee)...Is this Particular 03 Mach 1 a 5so Manual or 4sp Auto Trans?...I am Just Saying!...Thanks and God Bless!

Original my ass, lol. All the red is wrong. Spoiler is painted and shouldn’t be. Atleast the engine is stock.
