@@gregdixon3797 Not exactly. He didn't mean to cover Chinese products except that the Swedish brand is being controlled by a Chinese parent company. I'm pretty sure Kirk will still look up to Volvo as Swedish, not Chinese......

The flashing road sign can be turned off, and the Bowers and Wilkins is still the best sound system in this class. Maybe the Sound Settings plus the Sound Experience settings Or your source eq was off. It’s better than the $5000-6000 options from Audi/Porsche/BMW. The camera button is on the left side of the infotainment.
@KirkKreifels3 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher. Thanks for weighing in. I am able to disable the road sign information, which removes the speed limit indicator...it doesn't seam like you can keep the speed limit indicator intact without it blinking while traveling over speed limit. The sound setting I discovered was for concert hall during my review - not my cup of tea. I enjoy the individual concert setting the best. As for the camera button, I still would much prefer it to be physical rather than flipping through the infotainment. But I agree that flipping through might be slightly quicker than putting the car into reverse just to see the camera. Thanks and I hope you chime in on upcoming Volvo coverage!

The Bowers & Wilkins sound system is worth the money, IMO. If you have high quality audio, you will hear instruments and details that are simply not decipherable in nearly all other vehicles. I recommend downloading a couple of songs and trying the Harmon Kardon back to back with the Bowers & Wilkins.
@KirkKreifels3 жыл бұрын
I discovered the setting was on music hall which I didn't enjoy that much. Later I tested studio and solo concert which was much better.
@mavsguy8423 жыл бұрын
@@KirkKreifels Concert Hall sounds pretty bad on many styles of music, and even worse on spoken word audio, such as podcasts. I think it’s kind of a gimmick.

As a multiple Volvo owner (XC60, XC40, S60), and usually having at least one in the family since 1994, I can say the ONLY way I’d suggest getting a new one is to lease it. You don’t want to own one of these things outside of warranty coverage. They’ll also cover the maintenance for 36,000 miles. Volvos are really hard on tires and brakes. You’re lucky to get 25,000 miles out of a set of tires, and it’s common to have to replace the brakes by 30,000 miles. On my XC60, I have 22,800 miles on it and I’m on my 2nd set of rotors. Nobody makes better seats than Volvo - it’s a comfortable vehicle to travel in.

Kirk, the bottom camera is in the first menu. Depend on the configuration could be up or down. What do you think about a MDX in comparation with the Volvo XC90? I have one T6 and I am so happy with it.. Bur it’s time to change.

MDX has way more space. Also the advance package on the MDX matches up well with the t8 inscription.

Which drive mode were you driving in? We have an XC60 with 20” wheels in Omaha, and when driving a loaner XC90 (no air ride), the XC90 was noticeably smoother than our XC60. I chalked that up to the longer wheelbase.

I was in hybrid mode the majority of the time.

@@KirkKreifels Sorry, I meant were you in Comfort mode? The little roller behind the start button switches modes. I wondered if the air ride responds differently in different modes.

If you'll have a chance, Polestar 2 would be interesting to hear what you think.
@benjaminsmith22872 жыл бұрын
This is a very fair assessment of the xc90. The car is brilliant and well built. Maybe it shows its age in terms of interior volume. But the big issue is the ride comfort. While it is very smooth, almost hovercraft like on good pavement, it gets flinty-ish on rough pavement or sudden bumps in a way a lot of other cars do not. You can play around with tire pressures to relieve some of that but it's not a totally relaxed ride. And it isn't even that it is that firm. It's firm-ish but there are firmer cars that are still comfortable over pavement imperfections. It's something that is true of most Volvos. I actually found the regular Polestar 2 without the performance pack to soften the bad bumps and manhole comforts better than the big, more lux-riding Volvos. Although the suspension feels similar, the Polestar feels more composed and the intrusions aren't as noticeable. But, this is an older platform. Maybe Volvo improves it with the EV Embla. I sure hope so. But, I'm since this has been an issue generation after generation, maybe Volvo just needs to hire some suspension engineers to figure out what the issue is. The cars don't ride uncomfortably overall. Just over certain types of pavement, you notice more than you should momentarily and it spoils the lux feeling of the car.

You forgot the depreciation on these things. The depreciation is almost as bad as the German makes.

I wonder if there'll be a B8 model in the long run? Personally I dun like the B5/6 update either as engine output has been decreased by some degree, but would still settle with the B6 R-Design if I had to get one, also to reclaim the center console ODD (hybrid models can't even specify this ODD al all)... Also what about the AWD capability? Any chance to run some roller tests?
