The problem is that the economic status is killing the niche of sports cars for normal people. When inflation was low, buying power was high enough for the niche to gain traction to allow manufacturers to sell any car. We are at the point that even car manufacturers are losing money and are only sticking to cars that most people can afford that will push a segment of cars that a lot of enthusiasts will not like. Soon more and more companies will not be able to make sports cars and will sell boats with wheels because its more cost-effective and sells a lot more for most markets. Soon NA will just be one giant SUV-truck land. Not to mention that most SUVS are not even that off-road rugged and are just tall awkward cars that some consumers have no idea what they're buying when they can just use a sedan. Just look a Ford, sedan lineup killed. Soon we'll see others follow. Future of cars will be boring cellphones with wheels at the size of land boats. Pretty shit.
@baronvonjo19293 сағат бұрын
I would rather have an SUV over a sedan. I just had a Corolla sedan rental. It drove nicely and got good mpgs. But being a sedan was the worst. Everyone I carried in the back hated it, the roof is taking up so much head room, people would hit their heads getting in, and the body being so low was hard for my parents and it couldn't handle many driveways or just anything other than a pristine flat roads. Sedans are not deisgned for anything rough at all. I find the body being so low to be completely unnecessary. Older sedans had much better proportions. But they are so low with sporty styling these days to the point they aren't made for real use anymore. Plus, a trunk is worthless. I once had a 2013 Camry, and while it was physically larger than my buddies 2011 Highlander, it was significantly less practical. Seated fewer people, more cramped, less versatile, less thought out interior. But it was longer than the Highlander. Why would anyone consider a sedan as their main car? If you're wealthy enough to have it as a secondary car there is an argument for sedans. But for your only car a sedan can't make a cut because the deisgn is so fundamentally impractical. Give me a lifted wagon over a WORTHLESS sedan any day of the week. Until then, it's SUVs. Sedans are all style over practicality. Not what buyers need, so they have abandoned the segment.
