Completely agree. I've been riding for 28 years, 20 years of which were on 1000cc or similar sports bikes. But then I test rode one of the first MT-07's in 2014. Loved it, you can have fun actually revving it on roads whereas a GSXR1000 or S1000RR can't even let you use full revs in first gear without getting banned in the UK (let alone gears 2-6...). So I bought one and each year since I've test ridden more expensive bikes, adventure bikes, hyper nakeds etc and never found one as much fun at the MT-07. Even the soft suspension is a benefit these days on out potholed roads. So unless you're touring behind a fairing, check one out. Maybe one mile in a hundred I miss the 1000cc 180BHP power. But for the other 99 miles, it wins!

@@thepsychicpeach8425 oh sorry I wasn't referring to weight specifically but power. With the mt07 you can push it to its limits on the roads, but most can't do the same with mt09 unless they drive strictly highways. So if you mostly drive around town the mt07 would be more fun since you'd consistently have to hold the mt09 back. I mean we still have to keep in mind that the mt09 makes 1000cc bike levels of torque even though it won't hit the same top speed.

I'm 64 and have owned 24 bikes including two "10 second bikes". My most recent was a 2003 Honda Superhawk VTR1000F (10.91). I bought a new 2018 MT-07 in white and red almost three years ago. Paid $7,524 (US) OTD. It is my favorite bike. It's fast and handles and brakes very well. It is the best value in bikes today IMO. The only flaws are the position of the horn button and a seat which is overly firm. After an hour, I need to get off to walk around. Tried an Alaska Leather sheepskin seat cover and now can ride 1.5 hours. Looking at the Yamaha Comfort Seat which is $183 on RevZilla but out of stock. My bike has no mods and I like the semi-quiet factory exhaust. I usually change bikes every three years or so and the 2021 MT-09 deserves a look. I don't need more power, just want to try something new. Not getting any younger.

Cracking little bikes for sure ... I had a 2018 from new for bout 18 months and loved it. Traded it in against a new 790 Duke and find the Duke to be a comprehensively better machine .. but then it should be as it was more expensive. MT07s are great, basic, easy to ride, no faffing about and plenty of fun .. a good slice of easily accessible biking. The 790 in comparison is a little more 'serious' with all it's trick electronics and settings etc etc .. but, in my opinion, also more fun to ride :) One thing I do miss from the MT though is the sound .. with a decat and decent end can on them they sound properly brutal .. very deep, sharp, loud and aggressive .... nicer sound than the 790 makes for sure ;)

Very disappointed this was the best selling Yamaha bike, they had a chance to own the 700cc class for ever, they will have to redue the bike next year due to major loss of sales, people will be buying used MT07's or bikes in this class, OTHER THAN NEW RIDERS. Head light fits this bike fine like the MT03, It drops on MT09 it to small for the bike, dash disappointing on both bikes MT07 should have got the same last gen MT09 upgrade modes, and MT09 should have got bigger dash. I have the 2018 MT09 not going any were exhaust, rear shock, ECU flash, change front fluid just as fast as new one maybe faster who cares fast enough, I know 2014-2020 this engine is the best ENGINE, the bike is so easy to work on SO IMPORTANT TO REAL BIKERS, 2021 no thanks, Maybe the SP down the line after 2 to 3 years when new engine proves it's as good and figure the hole bike out for service. Electronics, the old one had just enough for me to fix and be happy with the new one I see a night mare a coming, the shop and $90 an hour. Any bike I can't work on I don't want. Bottom line the MT07 and MT09 have been around $1000 difference if they stay or stayed the same the MT07 needed the up grades above and some suspension up grades, maybe the old MT09 Shock, front springs, front oil change enough to make better but keep there bottom line reasonable. If you think the Triumph is better in your garage, just buy the XSR700, then you'll have a perkier MT07 and something even sweeter than the stodgier Triumph in your garage. ...N.B. Recent reliability surveys didn't find that Triumphs were better built than Yamahas, ...in fact Yamaha came top of the list for reliability. Come to think of it, they should rename the Triumph and call it the Fail... Triumphs are spot on for posers, or bods into flying the Union Flag, so quite un-cool. ...Mine's called Viva Palestina [she's my ultimate sexy freedom fighter] and whenever I ride her [classic Yam colours red, white, black and gold XSR700], I have a grin from ear to ear and my last bike was much more than twice the price but only half as much fun, ...so still quite a hoot. Yam CP2s ARE the best bikes money can buy for UK public highways. Maximum fun 0-120mph in no time flat, or better than 100mpg frugal as you like. ...In my not so humble opinion.

Yamaha right on start putting power pilot 5's on start putting them on all the MT's, I like the new font on all the MT'S EXCEPT for the MT09 it's to small. The MT07 you added the MT09 front disc's 👍 my only disappointment there was not a full make over, I would have like to have seen the 2020 modes from the MT09 added traction control and A,S and B the guage is fine a guage a TFT would have been nice but not needed just the modes. The front forks should have been fixed 👎 maybe dropped the 2020 MT09 forks on it 👍. Yamaha there is about a $1000 difference in the 07 and 09 price just the up dates I said above would have keep the bike in the price range you did the 09's and it's only $100 more. You would have sold a ton of MT07's and kill all the competition I see a lot of people are going to look for used bikes first other than new bikers and the new one as a last resort, I do like the look of the new MT07 in the yamaha Blue or Black don't care for that gray.

So, XSR700 with a Kenny Roberts Aniversary Speedblock paint job and a decent exhaust wins the class, all day long... I'd prolly put the SV650 above the Trident too, and i like Triumphs...

Loved my XSR700, but traded up to a Velocity Moto 900LC based on the XSR900 and wow, as good as that CP2 engine is the CP3 is better all over. Not knocking the 700, but try the 900 as well. Both great bikes.

It would actually look better if they did an RD colour scheme, battleship grey looks best on battleships.

Opinions please. How capable, or tolerable, would this bike be with 80-20 adventure tires on good condition gravel roads?

the only major downside to this bike and to every new bike is the new emission regulations killing any petrol powered vehicle. i mean look at that gigantious exhaust box underneath, smuthering and killing the engine that just wants to roar! i have the 2015 mt07, with the akrapovic exhaust with baffle and cat still in. it makes 76HP on the rear wheel on the dyno, with 75Nm of torque. i was shocked to hear this bike has less power and torque to be a ''new'' bike. and its all down to those emission regulations. they are small numbers, but still, you'd expect that an ''evolution'' of a bike should at least be on par with their older versions.

I prefer SV650, more durable engine and reliable, I have an MT03 and the truth is I suffered a lot of problems, especially consumption, electrical and a crack in the fuel tank that is made of plastic.

Please Please Please everyone including those that own one its a MT zero 7 not O7 - its 07 (zero seven) not O7. You don't call say a zawasaski rs900 a 9 - O - O so why do you do this. You type a 07 in thge title but you say O7

the kawasaki Z650 is better in my opinion after riding both back to back. It handles better, is more comfortable, looks better and is all around just more fun to ride for less money.

For sure the type is something in between Arai RX7V or RX7X. But I guess the colour schemes are custom. It's his signature something like that.

The headlight looks much better than the fz09. How could they do that?

MT07 is the best bang for your buck Motorcycle 🏍.. and for another couple of hundred bucks you can upgrade the suspension to make the bike even better 😉

A simple and honest bike, which manages to be a lot of fun and a blast to ride on PUBLIC ROADS. I am a 2020 MT 07 owner, A2 restricted, and be sure that in 2022 i'm going to buy the new model, with the full power... Call me crazy, but the MT07 feels like home for me, all the bike i need
@engjellaliu853 жыл бұрын
Why you are going to buy a new one ? You can just buy a new electronic with out A2 restrictions or just take off the restrictions talk to Yamaha guy service he might help you
@antoineallard87883 жыл бұрын
@@engjellaliu85 in belgium we cant do that, its impossible to change the power on the registration card... So you Can remove the restrictor, but then your bike is illegal. I'ts really dumb, Otherwise i would've kept mine.
@Mech.E2 жыл бұрын
@@antoineallard8788 I read about that kinda weird. So are the people who restrict their 100hp bikes to pay less tax in Belgium riding illegally then? It's strange because you do have the right license in your case.

I got a 2016 with an akrapovic carbon and don’t need anything else the only way I would get rid of it is if I buy an ftr1200

Well said. However if you’re like me and 90 kilos / 6’2” without gear that extra weight really shows how poor the suspension is when pushed. A smaller lighter rider? No problem.
