I've had my 2020 MT09 since new off the showroom floor. It has a few tasteful mods/upgrades and I absolutely love it. Perfect for commuting, a lot of power, more than you'd ever need for the street (in the past I owned several suberbikes). The MT09 is amazing on fuel (5.6L/100kms even when gunning it everywhere, gotten as low as 4.6L/100kms). In my ice fluo colour scheme she turns heads everywhere I go, and the sound is just a true Yamaha symphony, especially with the full Akrapovik exhaust and factory quick shifter.

Disadvantages: crap seat, throttle travel too long (R6 tube fixes it when I get round to it someday) and the tank shape funnels cold air over the gonads, requiring insulation via a hat down the trousers. Everything else with the bike is spot on, it’s a very good little machine.

@Frank_Torre Жыл бұрын
@@Edgar-bj5cr Yes I'd recommend the MT09. The MT07 is perfect for a hooligan bike, but I've noticed the MT09 SP is much more relaxing for me on my daily commute into Atlanta. Cruise control saves my wrists and as a chef I work with my hands all day. I'd say it's close between keeping a MT07 and getting a base MT09 as it comes down to your normal everyday riding. That said if you're buying a MT09 and can swing the extra like 1200 to 1500 the MT09 SP is absolutely worth it. The suspension alone is a huge upgrade and if you priced the parts to upgrade a MT09 to match it's SP variant you'd spend more than just buying the MT09 SP outright. I honestly think the MT09 SP is the perfect daily commute and get around naked bike. Power to have fun on the highway, torque to run round in the city, excellent handling for mountain twisties and a comfortable riding position. You can also pick up a used Speed Triple 1050 R for SUPER cheap nowadays if you want that triple howl. Have seen the 2014-15's for as low as $6K and they're making around 130HP with 81lb/ft while I have seen the updated 2016+ for around $8-13K depending on the newer you go and they're making 140HP. You can pick up close to 10rwhp from cams and a thinner headgasket, and get the hp into the mid 80's at the wheel which IMO with slightly stiffer fork damping is right where it should be. mid 80's-100rwhp is the fun zone in my opinion for a reasonable road going bike. I'm going for 250,000 miles on this bike, wish me luck

Long story short I have tried MT10 and bought MT09. MT09 is sharper lighter bike more agile and suited for street riding. And gives me bigger smile riding experience is way better. The only case where you may prefer MT10 is long motorway rides which I do not do.

I bought the 09. Best of all worlds. Light, flickable, powerful and psychotic as hell, and has a capability the 10 doesn't have - the ability to pass a gas pump.

For city (and close by) the MT07 is the perfect size. If you are planning more highway riding go bigger, but for 90% of riding the 07 is best. More affordable.

Can't beat it especially in fuel economy, it goes further without need to worry about the next refill especially if the route goes deeper where gas station isn't available... I'll be a bit worried for that if I'm on the 889cc & above

Nice movie. thnx! I do agree! I ride a 2022 09SP and I just love it. It's my second MT09, before the SP I owned a 2020 MT09. The 2022 is definitely better; faster cornering and better feeling in the front, but it's not easy to get the suspension right. The recommended fabric suspension adjustments are a bit too hard for the road, especially the front. And if you ride it with 2, you need to adjust again... The secret is to find the good compromise... Also, my previous bike, the MT09 2020, was more 'easy' to ride. Less feeling in the corners, but also less aggressive and more forgiving, especially at high speed. A steer damper on the 2022 SP is not an unnecessary option to get the same 'safe' feeling' at high speed. But what an amazing bike! It makes me smile every time I ride it....

Got one of the first the mt09 sp 21 in my country when is launched, and, in the middle weight segment it is for me far the best bike. That tork is insane and useable, instead of the Mt10 i had test, no power until you get your permit taken. Bref, mt09 sp is love on 2 Wheels

I am 174 cm in height and find the MT07 too cramped, the XSR 700 would be a better option. I own an XSR900, the motor is awesome, why would you need more power?
@lorenzell31049 ай бұрын
I owned a FJ 09 Yamaha. The engine is great, and it's a very good bike. But I almost list it on the highway one day as it went into a wobble. It also has a very stiff ride. You get bounced around a lot by the bumps, which is why I sold it.

MT07/FZ07great stunt bike cheaper than other stunt builds. Reliable, Fun, Torque, any year. Down fall is front forks but add thicker oil or replace those springs. MT09 torque/Fun/fast enough to get you away or get your license taken. MT09SP cruise control, better suspension than the regular MT09. MT10 auto bots transform a little heavier but faster yet a cruiser but not as fast as other Naked Bikes. At the Liter Naked class it’s slower but very durable and reliable.

In my opinion, the Mt07 is not really an option since the release of the new bikes like Trident, GSX 8 and Hornet 750. The Mt09 is a great bike, although personally I do have an issue with its looks. As for the Mt10 - more than 120 HP are needed for your ego and not for speed on the road.

Thanks for this, I've got a 2022 mt09 love it to bits but still extremely tempted to go for an mt10 next... total costs are significantly higher though and I'm asking myself will I be paying alot more and maybe enjoying riding less. Its generally more fun to ride a smaller bike at 8tenths than a bigger bike at 4tenths eh

Rode both MT07 and MT09 in the Alicante hills 🇪🇸 😎 and 9 way more accomplished and stable but the 7 way more fun and chuckable chasing the 9s and rolling on hard leaned over in the hairpins, preferred the sound of the twin especially on decel. Front end weakest point on 7 and rear easy to lock up without a slipper
@joaoseven460 Жыл бұрын
The 07 is a blast because it is just so freaking raw. When you Ride it hard it scares the shit out of you because it is super unstable at the rear, and the fork doesnt cope with anything but perfect tarmac

I really like my 2022 MT-09. Only wish the pegs were adjustable farther foward for my build. I feel a little cramped in my knees. One of my all time favorite bike was my Yamaha 2005 FZ1. The 5 valve engine was marvelous throughout the rev range. And the suspension could handle rough roads at a good clip. But the number one thing I liked was the styling and the ergonomics. More upright like its UJM liter bike heritage. I would buy the a MT-10 tomorrow if it was just like my beloved FZ1 2005 with the latest upgrades. Perhaps my age is showing. I spent the 80's on UJM standard liter bikes. Comfortable, lots of Torque. Handling wasn't great but we thought it was. The latest remake of the 1982 Katana is close but not as refined. Cheers

I bought a 2023 MT10SP... but I test rode the XSR900 (didn't have an MT09 demo). To be honest, if I wasn't so set on the electronic Ohlins, the XSR/MT09 is absolutely the best bang for buck bike on the market. It was heaps of fun and, if I'm completely honest, I probably felt a little more confident pushing the XSR closer to the edge of its performance capability. They had a really good discount on the MT10 I bought, but if I were paying full retail, it would be MT09 every day of the week. I rode the Gen1 MT09 back in the day and felt at the time the Triumph STR was a better bike, but having ridden the latest Gen XSR, all the quibbles I had with the bike back then have been fixed.

in 2020 I road tested the MT10, awesome bike but I couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground, and was concerned for my licence, I also tested the Tracer 900GT at the same time (as I wanted a bike for a bit of touring too) , which really was fast enough on the road, but more engaging to ride, with that great triple sound and as it was also on a discount it was a no brainer.'Also thought build quality was better on The Tracer/MT09. I have since had a full arrow system fitted and a remap, and is goes and sounds great. Must be a triple thing for me as I also loved my Triumph Speed Triple... It keeps up with my mates bigger 1000cc plus superbikes when we ride down to Spain through France each year (avoiding motorways), plus it has the added advantage of tank range (and fitted panniers for the trip). One of the lads has an MT10 and he is always worried about running out of fuel (Empty 10 🙂). I have also ridden the MT07, which was fun too. I also had a go on an MT09 SP when mine was in for service, I really loved the down shifter/Blipper, the only thing that I wish mine had fitted. To be fair all 3 are great bikes but I am glad I got the Tracer 900 GT..

It's the looks that destroy them for me. The 2016 version of the MT-09 was beautiful. Edit: Tried out an MT-07 today (older one with old screen) and the thing fehlt incredibly cheap. The gears don't know where they wanna be. False neutrals. Indicator knob felt flimsy and didn't always work correctly,... The engine is nice and all but it's not a bike I would recommend to anyone.

I like how three of them have different engine configuration and different number of cylinders. That makes the feel and sound even more different. for comparison, the z800, z900 and z1000 have the exact same number of cylinder and the exact same engine configuration and relatively exact same sounds. Don't get me wrong, i like zx bikes from Kawasaki, but that comparison is just made me appreciate Yamaha more.

Definitely MT-09 for now. If they’d fully update the MT-07 or make an SP with all the bells and whistles the MT-09 has. Then I’d probably trade down or across however you figure it. I can ignore the steel tube chassis because they’ve made it perform so well. But the suspension, brakes, and clutch are too much of a sacrifice to give up, if you’re already on an MT-09
@robbieracer3294 Жыл бұрын
Instead Yamaha gave it the worse looking dash ever on a bike ..it's literally a tablet turned sideways. And the upped the MSRP to 8200. I'd either save money and drop down to the 03 or go up and get the 09...skipping the 07 altogether.

I tried my friend's MT07 and overall is a good bike, very light and easy to ride. Kind of felt a little underpowered specially going up a hill I really had to push it a little more yet my mt09 really has a nice torque feel, I did upgrade the suspension it felt clumsy on bumps. For beginners MT07, for beginners and experience riders Mt09, the MT10 is nice but I rather get the R1 version instead of a naked bike for such a big engine.
@RichardASK Жыл бұрын
But the R1 is a Sports bike out and out, so nothing like the MT10 to ride. Why is it a big engine, it's 998cc. It's actually very compact for 160 odd bhp.
@adamc457 Жыл бұрын
The whole line up is great if anyone threw me the keys to any each iteration of the MT i would be happy. What most people dont realise though is the difference between the r1 and the mt10 is the engine is the same but the gear box ratios are different so the mt10 tops out sooner despite sprocket changes etc but not that imagine people would be maxing out their bikes on the road its always just nice to know😅
