@@ColJonSquall1 As an Aussie, I'll add to this, for us to use the full capacity of a F150, Ram, Silverado etc., we have to register them as light trucks (not cars), which comes with a large amount of regulation (have to keep a log book, cannot drive with ANY alcohol in your system, extra on-road costs). Anything that has a capacity to tow more than 4.5 tonne, falls into the "truck" category, you could purchase an American truck and register it as a car, but again, you lose your weight capacity (which if pulled over and weights are checked and they are over, has a significant fine/most likely told to loose the weight or walk home).

This with fill a niche in Australia, between mid size to 1500 sized trucks. All American trucks undergo a significant engineering and conversion process when the arrive in Australia which adds significant costs and 1500 sized trucks don't have the payload. And in Australia most carparks ,garages, drive thrus dont suit full sized trucks, and most Australians live in cities with limited space. A hd ranger would sell well as mid sized trucks are about the biggest vehicles people will drive here. Hilux and Ranger are the biggest sellers here.

There are many diesel power choices in the rest of the world in a choice of four basic engines in various specs. There are the old 2.2 four and 3.2 five cylinder engines and the newer 2.0 in single and twin turbo versions plus the 3.0 V6 as was recently available in the US F150 and before that in Jaguar/Land Rover/ Range Rover vehicles. The payload on that truck sounds insane for its size and makes you wonder what the ride quality would feel like when it is empty. The postal workers might like the looks of this right hand drive ranger more than the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle.
@erikwolff5007Ай бұрын
Basically they are bringing back the F-100 .. just calling it a Ranger.
@Jay-me7gwАй бұрын
No, not at all. This thing has 1700 lbs higher GVWR than the stoutest F150 had. A 9920 lb GVWR like this Ranger SD has is basically the same as an F250.

I like the idea, but don't like the thought of plug in hybrids. Plug in hybrids so expensive in repairs that diesel with after treatment systems ate cheaper options, thats saying alot... Love the breaking news info you guys do.

One could make the case that the Ranger Super Duty would come here, because people would gravitate toward a more capable work truck that is smaller and easier to park than an F-150. That said, knowing how many 5-person crews are running around and that they will fit much better in an F-150 than a Ranger (likely only 4-person) indicates that there would be too many parities between a US Ranger SD and F-150 for offering the former to make sense. All the customers coming in to dealers would ask "Why?", and the sales persons - with managers already indisposed to hate interacting with Ford - will just not sell them because everyone knows "F-150" 3X better than "Ranger". The Ranger SD makes a (extra ton) more sense in AU.

If the F150 was as big in the 1990's answers your question
@rockie307Ай бұрын
They should make a heavy duty solid axle f150. Ive got a f150 and a super duty like both but for me the ideal truck would be a combination of the two.

It wouldn’t sell as well as people think it would in the US. Even if it had the 3.0 diesel, it’s still slower than the 2.3 ecoboost in the US and the ride would be terrible. Plus, the countries it’s produced for have towing speed limits of 100km/h or lower. So there really isn’t any real appeal when you compare it to our roads, truck options and value.
@robertryan7204Ай бұрын
No they do not you can tow over 100kmh in Australia
@deedspm9Ай бұрын
This makes no sense. If you need more capacity you get a bigger truck. I would be willing to bet that this ranger super duty wouldn't be much cheaper than the bigger trucks
@gregjacques3159Ай бұрын
Probably investing in ranger upgrade rather than F150 because: 1. The main market the ranger is aimed at is Right Hand Drive. 2. Most people in Australia etc, can't afford an F150 250 350 due to RHD Conversion costs. 3. Australian Drivers License weight limit category's don't match America. 4. In America buying a F150 and above is more realistically affordable. In my opinion the LR license weights should be covered under the car license. I would be more concerned with licensing people to tow 2 tone or over as their is more likely hood they will become unstuck due to ignorance of what creates trailer sway, extra stopping distance etc. If we could have relative American vehicle pricing and licensing, I'd prefer to see: Payload Tow Ranger 1 tone 2.5 tone F150 1.5 tone 3.5 tone F250 2 tone 4.5 tone F350 2.5 / 3 tone 5.5 tone

Would love an hd ranger. Use mine for some work. Just an extra 1000lb paymoad and extra 2k tow would be perfect! I know f150, but f150 big and expensive. But, like it says, not for us. I mean the U.S. they wont want to jeopardize the f series
@a456987Ай бұрын
Oh man I'd want one if they brought it here
@Lance.West4Ай бұрын
To me, it wouldn't make sense because you know it will be more than a basic F150 and not even tow as much.

Here’s my thing, let’s face it, full size trucks are over priced and mid sized is what most people NEED, unless they are working class and pulling large trailers more than “deadheading” or running no load, and the ONLY reason I want a full size truck is the cabin or room inside the cab, I don’t like their fuel economy, and because I enjoy off-roading, most trails will scratch a full size more so than a midsize, and I wish all the auto manufacturers would make the cabin bigger (longer and a few inches taller) since I have a baby, the car seat takes up SO MUCH ROOM! But I like that some trucks are getting their respectable sizes because midsize trucks are more capable than they are rated.
@GavanClarkeАй бұрын
I hope they see the light and offer single cab and extra cab variants not the usual Ford Australia aproach of dual cab only on all bar base and xlt variants . 2 tonne payload in a dual cab would be great to watch go down the road

easier to park & carry bunch of stuff! cool! I tow rv with my f150 and appreciate the width, visibility, stability. but parking can be a pain sometimes.

It would be crazy to see. Ford has hit some snags in the market and maybe they're willing to make a limited run for it. But the F150 fills the mold and has for years.

This will sell in the US if it was made available for purchase. But it will not be a reality here. I am looking forward to the 2025 F-450 Crew Cab 4x4 with the Powerstroke paired with the 10 speed auto.

The flatbed is the truck we need, but will never be offered. It would be the perfect platform for overlanding.
@br5145-v3mАй бұрын
The proportion of people who “overland” (…go camping) is incredibly small. That population is sufficiently served by the numerous aftermarket groups.
@colbybrady2187Ай бұрын
@, nope. A lot of midsize trucks these days have campers, and midsize trucks with good 4wd suspension do not have sufficient payload capacity. It is sorely needed in the U.S. market. As is a flatbed option from the factory.
