Your comments go for the rest of his family and his company. Quite by chance I bumped into Dennis's Mum on Cradle Mountain in Tasmania where she was leading a tour group. Delightful lady and we had a great chat about Dennis, Bunnik tours and the weather. I've done 4 trips with Bunnik tours and can't speak highly enough about the organisation and staff that I dealt with. Love the flight reviews as well!

I flew a few times on Turkish Airlines business class between Europe and South-east Asia and I have to say, that I enjoyed every single flight very much. The old seat configuration 2+2+2 on the A330, although outdated and showing signs of age, is actually my favourite. The lack of privacy is a trade-off that I am willing to accept in exchange for the extra room for my long legs and big feet. The only main concern about flying with Turkish is their food, as I regularly end up eating way too much 😄

That's the trouble with Turkish food. Malaysian too.

Great video Dennis, I'd love to see more of these full journey videos! I like the concept of exploring alternate options vs. the well-established long haul carriers. Only paying 50% the cost while still getting 80% of the quality, that's a really cool concept to explore, even with the sacrifice of a bit longer journey time! If travelers are more informed about these options, it could encourage more competition between airlines (which is always a good thing).

Yes, would love you to do more of the "Total Journey" video's. Coming from Australia into the northern hemisphere always entails multiple flights. Thank you for a great video, very insightful at a time I am planning Australia - Spain and back in 2026
@rais195311 сағат бұрын
Not always multiple flights. There are non stop flights between Perth and Europe and between Australian east coast cities and the US west coast. At present Perth to Europe might have a refuelling stop in Singapore because of a detour around trouble spots in the Middle East but returning to Perth is non stop helped by the tail winds.

Ah, Dennis, I appreciate that flying business class from Australia is a privilege and that finding a cheaper option can mean more complexity and I am glad that it all worked out for you. From experience, getting to Barcelona from Melbourne ( some years ago) meant B 787 route with Qantas direct to LHR and a ' shuttle' to Barcelona with BA. Absolutely no regret with a homeward flight from Bukarest via LHR with B A and direct to Melb., via Perth . Happy to see that Bunnik is booming, paying off all your hard work( good Dutch entrepreneurship) Cheers and congratulations- big hopes for 2025,!

A very good total journey video Dennis and relatable travelling as a couple as many of us do for preference. Your relaxed, if slightly longer, journey certainly justifies the choice of a much cheaper fare. I've only once flown business class as the result of an unexpected upgrade by BA. If I fly "business" again it might be Air AsiaX Premium Flatbed. That gives you much of the comfort of Business Class without much of the cost.

Interesting video! Hopefully TK are flying a newer product into Australia? 32hrs and a fairly average product don't make this option too attractive. That's a long layover in KUL too. I'm flying SYD-MAD in April next year with QF/AY and from memory that was $8.0K and much newer product.

Great to have the reviews back Dennis! I definitely enjoy the longer reviews but I think a mixture of both multi sector and point to point trips is the best. We've had some amazing MH experiences from LHR to various destinations across East Asia pre pandemic but after being let down very badly a couple of times lately, I don't think we would consider using them again until the reliability and hard product improve. Never had anything other than great experiences with the MH staff though - always a pleasure. I use TK a lot to shuttle back and forth from LHR to IST and both the Y and J products on that route are without doubt the best on offer... however the J fares often don't justify spending the extra (although I do love the 2-2 on a narrow body as a treat sometimes). I'm afraid I don't like IST at all though, the 3rd party lounge is very poor and city connectivity is also bad - haven't yet tried the metro link which is now open though, so that might improve getting away from the airport as quickly as possible :D Thanks for the reviews!

Another great video Dennis. I’m keen on the whole journey videos. I’m in NZ so have an even longer journey to Europe. I have flown Malaysian Airlines prior to the plane getting hit (.on that route) and I found them to be excellent. Because of the extra time from NZ I don’t think I would do this trip although the cheaper price is certainly inviting.

Welcome back Dennis! We sure have missed you (nice to see Mrs Bunnik too 😁). This is an excellent review, but I do note that there has been some movement in business class flight costs on some of the more premium carriers. I spotted a good deal with Etihad the other day (about $7.5k return to Europe), and surprisingly with Qatar (a smidge over $8k). I'm hoping this means more capacity is coming online so prices are getting a tad more competitive. With that in mind, my personal approach now is to go less often, and stump up for Qatar/Emirates/Etihad. Happy travels!

I’ve flown Turkish a few times and found them consistently good - with the intended non-stop from Sydney coming it will be fantastic - with regard to the fares - as a past travel agent I always fly ex CGK to Barcelona with the J. CLass fares being A $3300 return - I usually try and use points on QF to CGK currently 120,000 in J - it’s a great fare and easy really - QR/EY are about the same fares ex CGK as well depending on season -great video - thanks

Great flight review and definitely this business class travel multiple flights is worth it if it's not a business trip as where you'd have to get to your destination ASAP. And then you do have access to the lounges where you can basically rest up and eat good food sort of. Price is definitely the winner here 2 to 5 thousand dollars saving well worth it.

privacywise the old style Turkish product isn't a gamechanger, but I found their seat incredible to lay on my side and sleep in. Had such a good kip there from india back to turkey on my last tour there.

Good to see another video from Dennis. Turkish airlines do have at least one plane in service that uses the typical "European business class" seat - an Economy class with the middle seat blocked off. I was stuck on it for my very first business class flight from LHR to IST pre covid. Don't know if that jewel is still in service.
@jacquelineyong545412 сағат бұрын
We recently travelled from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur return. The staff abd service were great. Agreed that the online entertainment could be better and the best seats are the throne or middle sections.

Great to see you back Dennis and nice to see you sharing you adventures with your wife :) I'm based in Sweden just recently flew TK for the first time due to Amex vouchers about to expire and SAS leaving *A and it was a great experience. I fully agree that TK is one of the ew airlines who operates a hub system in Europe that do have a very similar US "first class" in Europe. A few others did have wide body planes on some EU routes (AY had that from HEL-LON for example) and their network is excellent. Latley QR have been quite aggressive on their pricing, I managed to get a business class ticket for 1400 euro ARN-BKK 3 months ago, and I got upgraded to first class on the DOH-BKK leg - thats quite amazing to fly first class on the A380 for 1400 euro.. :) (Didn't get upgraded on the return however well well)
@DennisBunnikTravels3 сағат бұрын
Thanks. Would love to try AY again. Problem with the European carriers is on their narrow body aircraft - generally their wide body stuff is excellent but only flown on a few internal European routes. Sadly from Australia QR has been an expensive option post-covid due to high demand and limited slots pushing up pricing. Great win on that first class upgrade!
@nickmaguire491413 сағат бұрын
I've definitely been looking at these carriers for Europe. I think we're too old to suffer economy for that trip and if we get a lie flat bed so we can sleep and decent food we'd probably be happy. Lounge access and the other perks are a nice bonus. Istanbul airport has definitely improved in 10 years. Thanks you you and Julie.

Nice video, I would say price difference compared to Emirates or Qatar is big and Emirates are also inconsistent in their hard products since 777 is still 2-3-2, but Turkish Airlines 777 hard product seems really dated, but I know they they have A350s now and they are refurbishing and soft product seems good, but for difference of 2 - 3k Euro I would still say its a good deal and Malaysian Airlines seemed really nice for 6 hours flight.

We flew Turkish airlines business class last year from Vancouver to Sri Lanka. We loved it and the food service was outstanding. Only drawback was our layovers….way too short and that airport is massive. Lots of full on sprints! Now I won’t let anyone book flights for me, I want a three hour, or more, layover.

Excellent video, definitely food for thought, I make trips to Oz from LHR, previously to Sydney but now it will be to Brisbane which doesn't look quite as straightforward, and possibly more expensive. A longer journey could be the answer, with multiple legs, especially if I can get a long enough break for a sleep somewhere. With sufficient savings on the flight even with the cost of a hotel thrown in I could still be quids in. Turkish Airlines looked good value for money, thanks for all the info 🙋♀️🇬🇧✈

No, couldn’t think of anything worse, than a cabin smelling of satay!! While 2k cheaper is a big saving, ( the price of an economy return) you can see that difference from the market leaders, older design , tech and ife screen. The departure lounge and gate to gate service. Is the difference. With a 6 hour layover, and the various transfer between terminals seems very clunky. Turkish product looks very plain. I know the flat bed is the biggest benefit, but can’t see the value in these offerings. 9 hours of layover is costly as well. Locker configuration is also a good thing to know, the space for baggage and your weight allowance. The final flight looked the best and BCN airport is a massive one, but flows well. A great place to regroup after such a trip. Awesome city. A great insight video ,just my 2 cents.
@gp87359 минут бұрын
Yes I would. To pocket almost $10k a couple the trade off for a little less shoulder room (I'm wide shouldered) , longer layovers but still great service, food, wine and loo with decent lounge access...a no brainer

I flew on Malaysia and Turkish airlines in September this year to Madrid. Two days before I left Malaysia cancelled my flight and rebooked me on a 2 am flight with the 24 hour layover in Malaysia . My travel agent was fantastic and was able to negotiate Another airline in which I ended up flying Singapore. Superb. I found the older airplane from Singapore to Istanbul terrible the seats were uncomfortable. On my return flight I had the newer plane and a single seat on Turkish Airlines in a 1 2 1. the Malaysian leg from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne was okay. I paid a similar price and it was 31 hrs from Melbourne
