@CoalitionGaming3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it could do that but I'd check with elgato support first. You could use the windows audio mixer to assign that virtual output to the hardware output if it appears in your audio playback devices though (and then something like a Korg NanoKontrol2 with midi-mixer to control that volume independently), but wave Link requires you assign an output to their virtual input and then that's it.

Cardioid is just the pickup pattern. It helps try to reduce what it can pickup, but the mic is still sensitive so any sounds that bounce into that pickup pattern in the room still get picked up. I can stand on the opposite end of the room, face the back of the microphone, and talk with a slightly elevated voice and you'll still be able to hear me even though im outside of the cardioid pattern. @danmagoo Жыл бұрын
It feels flimsy and cheap, the sound is thin (comes with software because it's desperately needed). And for some reason the wave form of its recordings is very off-balance, with most of it above the center-line, making it hard to post-process with proper compression or normalizing (which, again, it needs). I returned the first one I got from Elgato because of the wave-form issue, and the replacement was worse. There's a reason they market this mic for "live" use like streaming -- it's useless for recording. But I'm not saying it's junk, just that it's overrated.
@CoalitionGaming Жыл бұрын
Lately the Wave 1 has been down to $50. Couldn't really say its overrated at that pricepoint tbh. While I think the Wave XLR is overpriced, to be able to use their software ,which admittedly is very good for its target audience, there's always that option if you wanted to use your own higher quality or more expensive mic.

Anyone considering buying, it is a great piece of equipment and software but beware Wave Link DOES INTRODUCE audio delay. For me it is super distracting and has me looking for a new solution. I can find nothing online about the delay either. It's only 25ms (or so they say) but feels more like 1 second to me. When playing games voices are out of sync, and sounds are behind the visual. I absolutely hate it. Same when I am watching tv or movies. I can't figure out why no one mentions the delay at all. I am that anal? Is there something else wrong with my setup that is causing this? Also never have understood the "Game" channel...90% of all games go to the system channel in Windows and not their own channel so the Game channel is basically useless. And just to throw this in for other people who might be curious, Elgato has STILL not added in Filters for the mic in Wave Link (something they were supposedly working on many months ago)
@CoalitionGaming3 жыл бұрын
The monitoring delay? Tbh I never use that function of any equipment I have. If I can turn it on, like with the Nexus, to make sure everything sounds good then turn it off, that's what I do.
@NewYears19783 жыл бұрын
@@CoalitionGaming No not referring to monitoring I am referring to delay on ALL sources going through Wave Link. For instance when watching your video the audio was slightly behind the visuals. When playing games the audio is slightly behind the visuals. They list it as 85ms on their website. It feels like about a second. It sucks :( I can see it happen in real time if I switch my output from Wave Link to my Speakers while watching your video (or any video) goes from delay to perfectly in sync.
@CoalitionGaming3 жыл бұрын
@@NewYears1978 hm, that's strange. I have heard them having delay issues with 1.3 of their software so I had installed 1.2 for the video. Regardless, I'm not sure why you would be seeing any delay in the video. On playback it's fine to me, but also software demonstration section used the audio from OBS run thru wave Link but it was manually sync'd to video shot from our main camera. Unless you mean it has delay when just using it normally in your setup. If that's the case, I can't speak to that much since I didn't test it that way and that's probably why most videos don't talk about it. I don't daily drive this mic, and I suspect some people who do might have better insight on the playback delay you're talkong about. I think hardware Canucks and tech yes city daily drive it though so might be worth asking them on Twitter or something. It's not an issue I haven't heard of, so you're onto something for sure, but I think I've seen it mentioned on the Elgato subreddit or something. Best of luck.
@NewYears19783 жыл бұрын
@@CoalitionGaming I am pretty sure the issue is there for anyone using Wave Link - but most people just don't notice. I am super anal about that type stuff. If I streamed I could show you. Playing Dark souls is a great way to show it. I can hit my sword on the wall and anyone can see the clank comes like 1 second after it should. If I then stream and turn off Wave Link you will see the audio is sync'd up =D Yeah there are posts about it on Reddit but no one ever answers them. Elgato also just ignores those questions. And yes again, I was NOT SAYING the delay was IN YOUR VIDEO. I was talking about every day use using Wave Link in a setup. In other words if anyone asked me if they should buy Wave1 or Wave3 I would tell them no because of the delay issue.
