You need to watch this video before choosing a GR Corolla for Track Days!

Random question- how did you attach your front license plate? Even the dealer was hesitant to install mine and I’m looking for a solution
@GaryTheCarNut12 күн бұрын
Dealer just installed it using the Toyota mounting bracket. Wasn’t an issue for me or my dealer.

Great video with good facts. So much negative press and misunderstandings about this car on the internet, so it's refreshing to see a balanced take. It's definitely not perfect or bulletproof, like any car, but it's still awesome and special. I want mine to be track capable, so I'll be upgrading the car. I will say, I think it can be made track capable for less than 20K but still definitely not cheap. But you are definitely correct that mileage varies based on experience.

Agreed, oh yes, you can make it track capable for less than 20K but if you want to get reasonable life from the brakes and suspension you'll end up there.

The best "track" car from factory that is cheap would be the Miata or GR86 these days. For the GR86 just overfill the oil a bit, and also wait for the new oil pan to come out.

Those are great choices but would need mods to thrive on the track like all cars in that price range.

Did you cover the Carbon Fiber roof with a PPF to help protect it from the elements? I am about to get a 2025 GRC Premium in Heavy Metal instead of the Premium Plus because of the CF roof (the H.U.D. is the main thing I really like on Premium Plus along with the hood vents). Just talked numbers yesterday and it’s looking like I will be at $3-$4k below MSRP! Definitely the time to buy one💯 A LOT better than those market adjustments they had on them! Hope that you and yours have a blessed Christmas💯🙏

No, I didn’t put PPF on the roof, I just waxed it. Had long term concerns about PPF on the roof, maybe not justified. My car is a daily driver but sits in my garage when not driven. Yes, now is the time to buy for sure! You’ll absolutely love the car. Best wishes to you and your family for Christmas too!

@@m4u5 They are this price all over the country. The only place they are still holding out with market adjustments is up near Maine. Even New York has them for discount now. After I get mine, I will be starting a channel and will shout out the dealer then. Part of my negotiations is that the winning dealer will get a lifetime of free shoutouts, which has probably gotten me an extra $1k off (their eyes lite up like a Christmas tree when I say that). Ultimately, It is all in how you negotiate. If you don’t have the negotiation skills, or like talking to people (dealing with salesman, personally I live it), Your best bet is to email dealers and get an OTD from them and have them compete with each other. The internet sales department will deal faster than in house salesman. Given the time of year, If you just search GR Corolla, you will see discounts…..ESPECIALLY NOW! 2024’s are even cheaper….

Didn’t Toyota update the cooling with a transmission cooler and better air distribution in the 2025 to address these issues?

Negative

Yes, but that doesn’t fix the transfer case over heating.

A transmission is not a rear transfer case....

Toyota added a bandaid air cooled remedy. Even Sakamoto-san himself says it won't solve the issue.

Exactly.
