Just to be clear, a cable does not NEED to be certified to be able to send HDMI 2.1 level signals, however certification is simply a guarantee that it will do so. Theoretically speaking, if you found a cable built well enough, something from 10 years ago could even still potentially pass HDMI 2.1 level signals. That's the nice thing about HDMI, is that at a base level, the cables are the same internally. It's just a matter of how well built they are, how strongly they can hold a signal over distance, and how well they can block external interference. Those are the factors that allow higher bandwidths to carry, which result in certification. So theoretically, with a well enough built cable, even a very early HDMI cable could potentially carry an 8K/120 signal. It's just a gamble if you're picking something that isn't certified.

Hmm, so I just figured out my AVR-X2700H 'only' has a 40 Gbps HDMI 2.1 input and output. Well, that makes me wanting to choose between LG C9 or CX kind of useless now. It will come down to what I find cheapest. The other minor spec differences don't matter that much to me than the future proof 48 Gbps as opposed to the 40 Gbps. Simply because I didn't fully understand HDMI 2.1 until coming across this channel and I had already bought the AVR before. PS5 brought me here and it's a comforting thing to know that already having the best possible consoles PS5 or XBSX, and having the AVR-X2700H (or higher models) means choosing between LG C9, CX or waiting for C1 next year actually doesn't matter anymore as far as the 32/40/48 Gbps differences are concerned. Rumour squashed. Thank you Vincent! Now then, what about the game options in the PS5 menu system for 'performance' versus 'resolution' ? As, the rumour for this is that: changing this from the 'default' to 'resolution' will mean the system changes the video output signal for games. That's the other rumour.

Vincent & I think alike apparently. I already ordered the Zeskit HDMI cable to work with my Atmos soundbar & Xbox Series X. The cable singlehandedly stopped the random drops of lost audio/video I was getting through my soundbar. I will be ordering another one of these cables for my PS5.

@funkengruven77733 жыл бұрын
I tested both the Zeskit 3M high speed HDMI cable and the Audiano 2M high speed cable from Amazon with a 3090 and LG CX and both passed 4K/120/RGB/4:4:4 with no issues. I needed 3M, but was scared a longer cable would introduce issues, so I got a different 2M one in a different brand JIC and both ended up working perfectly. Both were recommended as HDMI 2.1 capable on AVS even though they don't certify official HDMI 2.1 cables yet (just HDMI high speed blah blah blah...). Both of these are quality brands in build and tech based on my own testing.
@chroman3 жыл бұрын
You don’t actually need HDMI 2.1 cable. Just use a regular HDMI 2.0 cable, try to set 4K@120 10-bit 4:4:4 on your 3090 you will be surprised with the results ;)
@funkengruven77733 жыл бұрын
@@chroman you're probably right, but I didn't want to get my new card in the mail and hook it up just to find out my cable was lacking and best buy was closed, so I bought two of the highest recommended brands to hedge my bet. If you're gonna drive off a cliff and buy a 3090 you don't skimp on the cable... at least that was my thinking.

Great video as always.... but as I wrote yesterday to your previous video. It wontt matter as so far any game running at 120 on Series X or PS5 is capped to 1080p.... we wont get 4K native at 120 on these consoles in major games...they dont have the horse power for that :-) Sony like the firmware route so maybe this will be updated soon?? If at all possible? I like how some gamers go mental at findings like this...they feel it's an insult. I bet most dont own a 4K HDR 120 TV?. In the previous gen they moaned about small resolution differences or dropped frames on 30fps games... I am happy to have 4K at 60fps.... that alone is a godsend for gaming after a generation of 30fps... Keep up the great videos and of course that subtle humor ..

So I got my PS5 and Xbox about a week apart from each other and I found that the HDMI 2.1 cable supplied with the PS5 was much shorter then the one supplied with the Xbox Series X. I was able to easily use the Xbox's HDMI 2.1 cable to connect my TV to my console with no issues but the PS5's cable was too short. I ended up by a Ultra High speed cable off of Amazon that was 10 feet long and using it with the my Xbox Series X as it was slightly further away from the HDMI port of the TV and used the cable supplied with my Xbox Series X on the PS5 since it was the perfect length for where the PS5 is connected.
