Good interview, there's a lot to be said for metabolic flexibility. Go Keto (with a lot of cruciferous veggies to suppress estrogen), with Intermittent Fasting (at least 16-8), and do HIIT with Kettlebell, and you're GOLDEN! You'll build muscle, you'll de-stress, and the fat loss will come along as a bonus.

One very important issue that got missed guys is the benefit of the Keto diet on Insulin Resistance and diabetes which absolutely affects body function ...therefore training and bodybuilding.

Ketosis is still such a new field. After keto-adaptation you can begin to use ketones as effectively as carbohydrates. You can even spike insulin with exogenous ketones and put yourself into higher gear

Not a bad talk.. but in my opinion, lifting weights, is no problem at all. Not when you have actually adapted. The problem is, this adaption phase is probably longer than most believe.. in my experience, and from what I understand, many others to, those first 2-3-4 weeks, is just the first phase of adaption, and this adaption goes on for months, but most never really try this approach, and never experience this phase of long time ketosis, where your body is truly adapted, and actually functions really, really well. Me, I’m 48, and have no problems at all doing around 4, relatively heavy, relatively intense, gymsessions, every week. I lift more weights, with higher intensity, and have lower body fat, than many, many guys, half my age. And I can bet you all of those guys use carbs ”the optimal fuel for performance”.... as their main fuel. 😀

patriknn1 this is definitely the case. I have been in keto for three and a half years. I will never go off. Yes it takes a month to adapt but you definitely adapt further as time goes on. I would say it took me 6 months to be completely fat adapted.

I feel very strong guys, I am on keto and intermittent fasting for 13 month and I love it. I would not change anything. Massive hungers eating all the time, it’s not a business for me on high carb diets. On keto I feel fantastic. I eat 2 times a day and that’s it. Try it once and see how do you feel. Thanks guys for the video

I love this. So many just use blanket statements and you guys understand individuality. I've been keto for a couple of years because of health issues, I never found it great for fat loss but that wasn't why I was on it. I'm slowly incorporating carbs right now and checking my blood sugar to make sure it's going OK. So far, as low carb, I'm doing OK. I was never a carb addict but I really miss some of them, now. I do hope that I can use them in my bulk.

As was mentioned, your liver and muscles store glycogen. Well if you are running on equilibrium calories or a slight deficit. You can still eat a low carb diet and only fuel up on carbs occssionally achieve fat better weight loss. Because if you are constantly relying on glucose as your primary fuel source you will constantly be running higher insulin levels which is a hormone that tells the body to store calories.

Question 1: my friend has been on his weight loss journey and has been doing great. He is now concerned about having loose skin, primarily in the stomach area. Should he maybe slow down to give his skin time to adapt or is there something else that can help benefit?

Question 2: I keep hearing people say they want to develop lean muscle, but what does this actually mean? Lean muscle as opposed to what, fat muscle? Is there more than one type of muscle you can develop?
@snarkyviking9978
@snarkyviking9978 6 жыл бұрын
Javi rodriguez There is not more than one type of muscle you can develop in those terms (there are different types of muscles fibres but no such thing as fat muscle). It’s the use of buzzwords that has led to that weird phrase.

You can still do explosive workouts without carbs, if I'm not mistaken does the body not convert glycerol from the backbone of a triglyceride into glycogen? But still a small 5 to 10g sugar during workouts for that explosive movement won't hurt.

Best advice not to marry any diet Bc it may stop serving you. Been doing keto/carnivore for two years with so many issues I’m finally ready to step into another direction that’s better for my body

As a female eating around 2,000 calories a day (a small surplus for me according to MFP), do I have to eat at least 30% of protein a day in order to make progress doing a program like MAPS? I find it SO challenging to eat 150 grams or so in a day. I can typically make it to about 110 grams with my normal, whole foods diet. I never have any issues hitting my carbs or going over on fats. You guys talk a lot about the big picture of fitness, and I wonder if this is a small, negligible detail or if it might be an actual obstacle for me on a journey to health and longevity. Thanks! Love Mind Pump!

Anastasia How much do you weigh? Mind Pump recommends about 0.7 g of protein per pound of bodyweight (when you’re relatively lean; if you’re overweight, you adjust to a realistic weight you’d have when at a healthy weight). If you use the metric system, that’s about 1.5 g per kilogram of bodyweight. 110 g is a safe number I’d say, it won’t impede you. Sal often eats around 150 g according to some episodes on the podcast and I assume he’s heavier.

The nutrional advice from white cap is exactly opposite from what Jason Philips advises. I personally more convinced of Jason . he had eating disorder before, so he understands nutrion in a deeper level.
