Hi Jason, what about the studies that are in agreement that the high fat, low carb diet like Keto leads to less cardio-vascular disease, but claim that it causes more all-cause mortality. For numerous examples of this, simply google 'keto mortality.' I've been on a Keto diet for 6 months now btw, so I'm not hating on the keto diet, but simply looking for a way to address the people who point out this apparent increase in all-cause mortality in connection with a ketogenic diet.

I agree. I think the toughest thing for Americans is unwinding all the brainwashing we have lived through. I am 3 years now as a low carb intermittent faster . Lost 60 pounds the first year; now focused on autophagy and my doc is in full support. It was Dr Fung’s advice that brought me to this point. I feel 20 years younger at 71 and my COPD is now just a minor issue. ❤

Did keto for over a year. Felt great, lost 40lbs, arthritis went away, back pain went way down, no more anxiety or depression, etc. doctor freaked about my cholesterol and put me on the highest dose statin. I refused to take it. Nutritionist is telling me that keto and OMAD are unhealthy and unsustainable. Tried it the doctors/nutritionists way. Weight flew back on and all the symptoms started coming back. American health care is disgraceful.

No rollercoaster, always steady, with only eating carnivore it even went better. Until now I never had to use medications nor insulin. My bodyweight went down from around 115 kg to around 70 kg. These doctors like Jason and Dr Berry truly deserve the noble title of Doctor .

You rock, Dr Fung!! I've listened to hours of your videos and have read 2 books. GOD BLESS YOU for having the courage to say what you see, and for having the responsibility level to share it in volume. I'm getting my life back. Ive was on a keto type diet( Canadian based.. not high in fat, with isolated whey protein and low meat with veg) but after 2 months I lost 25 pounds, weight loss stalled for 2 weeks and gained as well. I was eating about 700 to 800 calories a day. I've applied info in your videos, and immediately lost. In the last 16 days I've lost 14 pounds. Thats after 2 months of keto and initial water loss already gone. Ive struggled with my weight all my life, despite major execercise and diet programs, I just couldn't keep it off. On the keto-like diet 7 years ago, I lost 93 pounds in 10 months BUT IT WAS ALL GAINED BACK despite mostly eating healthy. NOW WITH THE INFO ON INSULIN RESISTANCE I SEE HOW THE WEIGHT WAS CHRONIC AND I SEE HOW TO BREAK THE INSULIN RESISTANCE. In the past 16 days I've done some OMAD and have done 36 hour , 45 hr, 47 hr and 63 hour fasts. My fasting glucose is EXACTLY NORMAL , and I have hope for the first time in many years !!!!! I'm 67 years old, and I have 70 more pounds to lose. For the first time actually see that I can lose and keep it off for the rest of my life, as long as I can keep eating so much!!! Oh! The severe arthritis in my knees is improving dramatically. IM SHARING YOUR VIDEOS AND INFO WITH FAMILY SO THEY CAN GET EDUCATED VIA YOUR BOOKS, AND GET HEALTHY TO EXTEND THEIR LIVES WHILE HAVING A HAPPIER ONE WHILE HERE. Thank you for keeping this simple and not making macros the ultra top importance. I keep atten on the basic principals by eating whole food, medium protein, high good fats . I dont weigh or measure anything. I watch how I feel and how the fat burns off. Results. Easy. THANK YOU for continuing to educate me and continuing to inspire me through regaining my health.

Thank you so much for taking your precious time to share your expertise and evidence based knowledge with us. I have all the unhealthy consequences of metabolic syndrome and am trying to reverse insulin resistance, lose weight and improve lipid profile. It is so difficult to change a mind set toward saturated fat that has been promoted for decades. My mother died at the age of 49 in 1984 of coronary artery disease after also having suffered two CVA’s with sequelae. She was thin and healthy until she switched us all to margarine and a low saturated fat diet. She died too early from following this advice while also being shamed for her failure. I to have been following in her footsteps and feeling shame and failure. Your encouragement combined with references to reputable scientific evidence/sources is helping me. Entrenched health beliefs (though sometimes wrong) can be as tenacious as our moral codes and religious upbringings. Thank you for your dedication and resolve to convince us otherwise. I do regular 3-7 Days Fasts and break it with OMAD Keto meal. Means i do fast at least for 3 Days and repeat. After a while, i go longer since its easier then, usually 5 days sometimes even up to 7 but no more then that. And i can tell you from experience, quality saturated Fat heavy animal foods are THE KEY to go longer without food and burn more fat. Also it triggers Bile release, so people who are often constipated can benefit from that, sometimes they get weird advice from a popular channel to break fasts with lean protein, wich will lead into many many problems and cravings. I use Gras fed Blue cheese. per 100g it has 42g of fat, of wich 30g are saturated. Its also high in CLA and a fes MCT's since its gras fed. One whole pack and i notice the diffrence while fasting.

After reading Dr. Fung's book on keto, I lost 50 pounds in 7 months by fasting one day a week combined with keto. Felt fantastic and was easy to maintain once I got there. Then I got a job as a caretaker for an older person who liked starchy foods and refused to eat anything I prepared if I wouldn't eat it too. Gained all 50 back. Now I work somewhere else where getting unhealthy isn't part of the job description and I can get back to being healthy. I'm going to start slow, but I am confident that if I did it once, I can do it again -- and from now on I'm not going to give up my health for somebody else.

Hi Doc, I’ve learned so much from you, and I want to thank you for all the knowledge and work you do on all these videos. I’m having tremendous success following your advice. I had triple bypass last year, and since then I lost 25 pounds, lowered blood pressure, eliminated symptoms of sleep apnea, sleep great now, have a super healthy diet, dropped the meds after 30 days after the surgery, exercise vigorously (muscle and cardio) every day, and I’m at my best mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. Thank you for helping to make all this happen. My own doctors never suggested any of these regimens that have made me healthy. Instead, they wanted me to stay on meds. How is it that the vast majority of medical doctors are so adverse to this healthy approach, and how is it they are so stubborn and refuse to acknowledge the truths you teach? Overtime fatty acids build up in your cells leading to insulin resistant of the cells but most doctors blame sugar causing insulin resistant which is not true. Sugar will spike your glucose but if insulin is blocked from the cells then the insulin cant do its job which is to deliver the sugar out of the blood. Meats and Dairy are the main culprits for that fatty acid blockage.

Many cardiologists will tell you, "It's the inflammation caused by chronically elevated insulin that's causing Cardiovascular Disease." What's the cure? 1. Don't eat the recommended 6-10 meals a day. (Eat 1 or 2 bigger meals) 2. Sugars and excessive carbohydrates cause inflammation. Eat low carb (under 50g a day) and eat "whole", real foods, not processed. 3. For some people, keto/high fat diet works, and for others, whole food plant based diets work. I think what's great about fasting is the shift in focus towards our overall attitude and relationship with food that has recently changed a lot. Great content!
