There will not be a V8 in a high volume model anymore. The engine would need to be fitted with the upcoming Euro7 regulation which seems most likely impossbile. So only low volume models like the AMG GT and the SL63 will remain with the old V8. Probably the only escape would be a V8 Hybrid like BMW will do in the upcoming M5. But Mercedes has not announcend such a thing.

This eliminates one of the two complaints I have about the standard CLE, that being the fake exhaust design. What it doesn't fix though is that the CLE has a B-pillar, since I really liked the old E-Coupe not having one, but I guess that's just a small complaint that I could live with, so overall I'd say this is a pretty sexy car, well done Mercedes-AMG.

@crazytingz7006 Well, yes. Why would you get regular ppf? The sheen on it would take away the matte look of the paint. However, since matte ppf exists, there's really not too much need to pay extra for matte paint to begin with. Just get one of the other colors and put the matte ppf on it. Then that color now will have the desired matte look.

One complaint about the screens. Why are the bezels so thick??? Cars like Tesla and even Chinese cars like Xiaomi have screens that look way better. It isn’t that hard nowadays to have thinner bezels, is it? Mercedes could’ve made the screens look much better. Thinner bezels would look much more modern. Yet they spent their budget on those rubbish capacitive buttons. Physical buttons with nice feedback like Porsche or Audi would be nice.

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWLEf42bpMano6c). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6G1f56NbtOlqNk And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKe7loOHnsSAd80 New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2qXiouAbJeIiqM More and more natural materials are rising: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIO2pIt7o9x7etE Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpzNdHSjppaSbqc Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
@fartamplifer11 ай бұрын
@@autogefuehl Agreed. I've been in a few high end cars with leather-alternative interiors and they're much nicer most cars with leather interiors. It's not about what material is being used but rather the quality of the materials and how they're being used.

I'm very happy that it looks so great and isn't relegated to a 4-cyl. However, the interior is simply not good enough for e-class customers . . . not good enough for the price . . . unacceptable for any entry-level mercedes - nevermind the last luxury/performance GT car they offer (SL/GT63 are sportier and way more expensive). The interior should have soft-touch instead of scratchy plastics. Not a single piece that looks like metal is real metal (unlike the last gen e class). It's missing design and architecture inside, but would have been excusable if it had better build quality or higher quality materials. I would be less disappointed if the S-coupe was still offered.

I see a CLE 300 everyday parked at a Mercedes-Benz dealer across the street from my office. It has the size of an E Class coupe but looks just as small as a C Class coupe most probably due to proportions, and that's why I don't like it, as well considering that it has a higher starting price than the E Class coupe. But I'm glad Mercedes are starting to make the light AMG 43/53 versions bulky and wide just like the 63's and now this CLE 53 looks like an updated C63s Coupe, which is fine because that car looks mean. As always, I enjoy your videos, Thomas.

Love the look of this car - could be best one in segment. As for 4/6/8 cyl... I think a 4-cyl engine, when it's not under boost (read much higher stresses/pressures) puts way too much strain on these heavier cars. For example, causing at 65 mph and accelerating quickly to 90-100 to pass. 4 Cyl will go into boost mode, 6 or 8, can often handle this without boost (esp 8) if you are not expecting max acceleration. When cars weighed 1300-1600kg (roughly 2800-3400lbs), then maybe the 4cyl car could work with the 8-10 speed gearboxes. But with 1800-2100 KG (4000lbs +) it's just too much on/off boost, with these turbo's putting way too much heat, aging components faster, especially with the increased use of plastics. For me 4cyl in a small-town runabout - for my long trips or spirited driving, minimum inline 6 (which is a good optimization considering engine weight) - an 8 could be overkill esp, with Hot-V setups having potential higher early component failure.
@autogefuehl11 ай бұрын

Excellent opinion. Inline 6 is optimal in all regards. V8s should be retired. I don’t like the 4 exhausts and the AMG naming. Keep it simple Mercedes. The missing B pillar degrades it to a C class and breaks the E class coupe tradition unfortunately…

I think by combining the C and E coupe to make a single entry will be a big fail for Mercedes. The C coupe was the volume leader over the E coupe and by merging them together but at an E class price will alienate the previous buyers of the C coupe as they won't or have the money to pony up to this more expensive price category. As a long time MB fan and buyer I would put my money towards an M440 which you get at least 100% if not 110% of the performance at a 20% or more discount. There will be many alternatives to the CLE at a lower price ( the previous C coupe competitive set such as 4 series, A or S5, Lexus RC, Infiniti Q60). The IWC graphic watch is a joke, give me a real IWC clock in the dash like the C43 or C63 used to have instead of a virtual IWC. In my current C class, I can't tell you how many people who sat in the passenger seat commented how they liked the clock in the console, understated yet very elegant.
