I remember watching the World's Greatest Drag Race that had the GTR and the Aventador. Both of them were millisecond apart across the finish line. Then a while ago, I watched a newer iteration of WGDR(2017), this time with a newer GT-R NISMO. The GTR came 4th.

The R35 is like the modern day supra. 10+ years from now finding a stock GTR will be like finding a stock original hard top supra today. I think what’s special about the GTR is there’s this presence it gives off. That there is nothing lesser of GTR Nissan makes. Every time I see one I get a little excited like it’s the first time seeing one. Might just be me but it never gets old. No one asks what year GTR you have. They just knows it’s something special and a mystery. Is it stock? Is it 600hp is it 1200+hp who knows? This car is doing exactly what it was made to do. TO GO REALLY FUCKING FAST!!!

@waverip3rs6 жыл бұрын
CBA refers to Nissan's terminology for timing strategy in model year 2008 - 2010 (US MY 2009 - 2011) GT-R. DBA refers to Nissan's terminology for timing strategy in model year 2011 - 2013 (US MY 2012 - 2014) GT-R. DBA has upgrades including bigger brakes, transmission upgrades, softer suspension, larger turbo inlets, front bumper, different wheels, and a few other things.

I love that the gtr doesn't really change. Let's face it. When you look at Japanese cars they've always been that car you get and do something to. To me the gtr sticks to its roots 100% you can always rely on a gtr to be what you'd expect. And that's a Japanese car.

So so glad you mentioned it feeling engaging and not boring. I’ve only driven one softly for a few miles but my friends who’ve driven them for longer distances said they were bored and it felt too computerized and did not feel exciting. Since then I’ve always wondered just how it could feel boring and I kinda turned away from them but this gives me hope that it may be a good car for me in the future. Nothing sounds boring to me about 500+hp and awd for some awesome launches, not to mention one of the best sounding V6s I’ve ever heard. Great review man, this was a home run.

EddieX or make it worth a 120k lmao buy a old beat up one with some issues for stupid cheap then send it out to AMS or T1 and get it rebuilt with better parts and more power for less then buying a brand new one bone stock. You can buy 2009 for next to nothing exspecaily if they have issues then mod them anyway you want rip the dash out put a carbon one in with a digital motec display and it would look modern again.
@stanleychen32986 жыл бұрын
Yes it might be old. It might not be fast. But if you had a chance to buy a clean R34 I guess it would still be pretty tough to turn down. A GTR is a GTR in my opinion. Old Godzilla is still Godzilla💪💪
@coureurdebois6 жыл бұрын
heres the deal with the GTR, it has not aged like a normal car would, normally there is one refresh with a few little updates, the GTR on the other hand has radically changed every two years. everything from chassis components, suspension set up, tires, power, turbo boost levels, state of tune, cooling changes, interior changes, exhaust changes, steering, internal engine components, and PRICE. the GTR is now double what it cost in 09. most manufactures would have saved most of the updates nissan has made nearly every 2 years and just made a whole new car with JUST the updates nissan continuously does to the GTR.

I LOVE the GTR's from 2014 and up. Nismo is AWESOME but crazy $$$. I would get the 911 Turbo S to launch over and over without the warranty getting cancelled after 3 launches from what someone told me but he could be wrong. I can only afford a Black Package or premium at this point but want to own one before I leave this earth. GTR do need a NEW upgrade and body style and maybe a V8 Turbo. Eddie I can't wait to see your video of you trying or driving the NEW C7 ZR1. Heard its a Beast as well. Thanks for the videos buddy love them. LOVE the GTR's as well. MB

I considered buying a used 2015 GTR but the forums have too many scare stories of excessive costs for servicing and parts of GTRs. One guy had some part (mostly electronic) go and got a bill for circa $12K for the part alone!
6 жыл бұрын
+Paul Fairchild.. Pay the extra for a warranty. If you get a stock one with low miles and a full warranty, you'll be fine.
+Paul Fairchild.. Its worth it, trust me. The GTR is incredibly expensive to maintain(unless you are a car guru who can really work on engines and cars). Having that warranty is huge should anything happen. I mean come on, if you buy a GTR it is probably because you want to enjoy it, so if the tranny were to go, on any engine issue, you would be in HUGE trouble if you are not covered. I am not sure what the warranties are like on the GTR's, but I am assuming they are not all that long like many other performance cars.. But yeah, its like owning a BMW or MErcedes. There is a reason a $100K car is only $10-$15K only 10 years later. It is because after the warranty expires, no one could afford to upkeep a used one where every single small issue is a thousand dollars lol.. Just routine service changes on the GTR are like $2,000 if you get them done from a dealership.

I can't afford one but it's still a dream car for me. I'm near Toronto, Ontario so a quick auto trader search reveals 35 GT-Rs for sale within 250 km of me. Cheapest one is a 2009 for $58000 (about $45000 USD) with 101000 km on it (about 62000 miles). Still too expensive, especially considering it's most likely had the shit driven out of it. But I still love them.

Over 4 years later and we are still waiting for the R36. Honestly this type of approach to cars is what keeps me away from Nissan. They are SO SLOW to evolve their designs and would rather keep selling inferior products because it requires less investment. The GTR came out almost 17 YEARS AGO. 2 years after the 6th generation Corvette came out, and now they are already 3 years into the 8th generation! The Titan is outdated, frontier was severely outdated until last year, and the "new" Z uses a lot of the same parts as the 370Z which came out around 09 I believe. Just crazy.

Any concerns on buying a used GTR I need to know or look out for? I have been looking but most are beat up and high miles and or modded out. Nothing wrong with this but I am looking to buy a used GTR with low miles but asking you Eddie what should I look for in doing so? If you have any help that would be awesome my friend.
@usernamealreadytaken7706 жыл бұрын
A lot of people say the transmission is a weak point. When the GTR first came out, launch control would destroy the transmission. The newer ones have electronic upgrades to handle the transmission but still it’s a weak point of the GTR.

It's day has passed--particularly when you see what the Nismo version is going for and put it up against more modern cars in that price range. But--it was an icon for many years. Always thought the interior was too "Ginza after dark," as one car mag guy called it. Lots of good info, but poorly organized.

@uNdErCoVeRGeeK074 жыл бұрын
EddieX Calm down????... I’m guessing you can read, but you ignore my question. However, if you call the R35 GT-R ancient then my statement must be truly accurate about the Ford Mustang. Another point when it’s said that the GT-R is old they’re referring to the body style, because enhancements have been made to more important things like it’s technology, power increases, boost pressure increase as well. The GUI on the screen, on the other hand still remain as it original. The DBA 2017 body style was upgraded as was the interior. So, can go, on and, on.... but I have more important things to attend to. Anyway, educate yourself. Besides, I eat Mustangs all day as my appetizers for starters!!! LoL!!!

william the sk8er I’m a huge Japanese sports car fan.... but they will ruin it. Just like every other Japanese sports car. It will either A. Be shut down without a replacement or B. Be so completely redesigned or reimagined that it won’t even be a successor to the GT-R. Nissan needs to take notes from Porsche - just make subtle upgrades. Find a way to cut a few hundred pounds, resculpt the bodywork a little and keep moving forward. This car needs a style upgrade more than a performance one IMHO....
@DahZombieNog6 жыл бұрын
This car will never have a V8 and will never have a manual again. The design leaders have already said that. It's all about being the best, and neither of those make it any better. No need to make the car heavier than it already is with a bigger motor, and no need to slow it down by adding time between gears.
