I once shot down a PE-8's bomb right before it hit my team with my R3. I was screaming with glee. The guy was PISSED and turned around and flew right at me with his guns firing. So then I had an easy shot and killed his pilot and it crashed right in front of me into a massive fireball.

I play this thing as aa and it is probably the best in it's class, it can drive to cover when getting shot all the while returning fire it can drive out of cover and surprise low flying planes, once i even outran a p51 as he tried to fly behind a building and shot him down

For what it is yes it's still great as an aa. Hell I use my M16 all away until 8.0. So the r 3 is fine where it is. It's an aa after all.

I just started playing War Thunder a few months ago and Italy was the nation I chose to start with. I love the R3, I've gained the most total RP out of all my tanks with this thing. I never got to use it back in its glory days (it cannot kill 95% of tanks now) but it is still amazing at killing aircraft. I do kind of wish it would get reduced to 4.3 or 4.7 so you would only have to deal with less Tigers and Panthers on uptiers and would allow you to kill an occasional tank. I don't want it to be anywhere near what it used to, be but it even occasionally struggles with killing open top vehicles.

Two tips boss ! First one : There's an option in game where you can set a button to hold that would allow you to steer using your mouse, which is super handy for wheeled vehicles as you can fine tune your turns! Second tip : For the mg151, the APHE (armored target belt) has been buffed and pens now 26mm at 10m 0° instead of 19! Which is HUGE, since it now pens as much as the regular ap shell, but has explosive filler too ! Anyways, love your vids and their new intros

I find myself forgetting to turn the mouse steer option off before I start fighting, so I have it turned off for that reason! lol Also, the APHE is great but the issue is when fighting other planes. I also find the Universal belts allow me to take out SPAA more reliably. I was using APHE for a bit but it led to more frustration than good results! :)

They actually finally fixed the APHE belts on the MG151 20mm cannons, so now you can get 75% anti-armor belts that also do explosive post-pen, with the same penetration as the API rounds in the universal belt.

Best game I've ever had in this was on single cap conquest Hürtgen Forest, the one with the cap in the water. It was at 6.7 or 7.0, I forget. I was facing Germany and drove like a moron until i was behind them and ended up with 6 kills and 10 assists. Just being a pest. But it was so fun.

"people say you're rubbush now" those are the shitters who only use it to try and kill tanks and never shoot at planes. which is also mainly why people complain about CAS so much, all the people playing AAA are either making themselves easy targets by shooting all over the place at the first sign of a plane 2km out, or only shooting at tanks.

Most AAAs in the game have the ability to destroy tanks. It doesn't seem fair to me to make it so that only R3 no longer destroys tanks, while all other AAAs do.

The g55 series might be the best Italian case at the br, i usually kill tigers and jagds with them, clearing caps for my team and then go and kill as many bombers and fighters as i can

That's so true, i literally fall in love with the g55 sottoserie 0, it's so amazing even now that sit on 4.3,even if it should be at 4.0, but it works very well and if you use brain you can win a dogfight against spitfire

with the R3, it's best to "paint short lines" of where you expect him to travel. Short bursts of ~10 rounds or so. Paint a line you expect his path to follow, wait. Paint a line, wait. Repeat. Usually if you spray, you miss most (or all!) of those shots so it's just a waste of ammo unless you're in a panic scenario. You don't need 30 rounds of 20mm hitting to kill a plane. You want accurate bursts. Also, it's ideal to shoot planes when they're slowest (banking up and sideways stalling out) or, "committing" to a run and so fast they cannot turn off. You can basically aim where their tracer shots are firing to get their path. Also, general tip for players: hug houses for cover. Pop out and ambush when planes are close and only when they're close or doing something stupid like stalling out sideways in the air. If you limit your shots you make it very hard for other planes to spot you. Also, planes look out for each other. If you shoot at a plane, any other plane that sees it will come for you. So be super careful when engaging when there's multiple planes. A plane that just flew over you will have a much lesser chance of seeing you (in his rear) when you shoot the next plane. And anyone with bombs will head straight for spawn so get out of spawn if you can, the only advantage of spawn is no artillery. I actually enjoy AA the most. It's fun to play cat and mouse. And also the French DCA "daka" can even pen Panthers. And the P7T "death tractor" I thought was 4 rifle guns for the longest time. It's 4 FIFTY CALLS at 1.3 BR. (No special ammo though.) It's a great ambusher if you let them get close--which works well considering it has very small magazines between reloads. I've never had good luck with the slow firing ~40mm bofors style AA guns. They'll one shot when they hit... if... they hit. It never feels reliable enough.

When i was a new player 2 years ago i remember being bullied by one of those for nearly an entire match. I was in a KV-2 and missed my shot against a pair of these rats. They then just shot my barrel and track for more than 5 mins and no one came for help in my team because they got pushed back and they didnt have any allies close to kill me. I am very much traumatized by that experience even today. I was just spamming "cover me" and pinging the map. Thats why i wouldnt even care if they banned all players that played this vehicle. I have PTSD.

Literally any tank shooting a Russian T34 or KV tank in the breach and it absorbs it like a ShamWow gulps down liquid - slurp, feed me! The real problem is that it should be have the stalalizer back and the ammunition belt could or could not be given back but that depends on the br, this would then make it Feasible To bringing up a little bit in br and then italy needs another aa between it use to be the r3 t20 was from 3.3 until the sidam at 8.0 and this was ok becasue the r3 was good enough it could survive but it was a challenge to hit super props and really hard to hit jets if they played the vehicle strengths ( most often speed ) now it is almost impossible. Also if you play a AA vehicle like the r3 t20 until you get the sidam at 8.0 you would also become pretty good at it italy need one or to filler AA vehicle to fill the gaps in their line also movin the r3 t20 up in br made them make the Italian wirbalwind better with the belt feed system so pick carefully what you wish for from warthunder, they will find another way to fuck things up for you

@@dulguunjargal1199 don’t expect to kill tanks, and mainly use it for AA. Select your targets wisely when fighting tanks since all heavies and some mediums are your worst nightmare with 50 cals or roof mounted MGs

Tbh when it was added back in the day and it was 3.7br I said that it should play along with the other italian cars at 6.7 and it will still perform good. So no doubt it performs well at 5.0. It should go to 6.3-6.7 tho.

It would be pretty useless at 6.3-6.7. It wouldnt be able to kill most ground vehicles and at that BR planes are getting pretty quick so a single 20mm gun wont be cutting it. I think it would be fine staying where its at. It would even be fine at 4.7.

Spaa is amazing in this game. Taking points, killing tanks, and of course shooting down planes. All for the cheapest sp cost. Radar spaa are especially oppressive because they get to play arcade on top of everything else
