I purchased the Ruger lcp II 22lr, took it to the range, ran 80 rounds of CCI Velocitors, Stingers, and Mini Mag,through it, only 20 rounds actually fired, all the rest were light strikes,when I say light I mean you could barely see the strike. I contacted Ruger the next day ,talked to the sweetest lady named, Cynthia, who said she would Email me a return RMA which I received while I was still talking to her, I sent the gun back that day. Ruger sent me an Email when they received it,another one when they sent it back, all within a week,with a letter saying they replaced the barrel and a complete slide. Took it to the range as soon as I received it, fired 200 rounds of the above ammo with absolute ly no problems. absolutely the best service I have ever received from any firearm company.

Interesting... I fired mine for the first time last week, and had malfunctions on about 90% of the circa 20 rounds I shot: but these were failures to feed or to eject, including one stovepipe. I had figured it was because I forgot to clean the gun before shooting, but now I wonder... But when it actually fired, I really liked it: no recoil, comfortable in the hand, good trigger, and surprisingly accurate.

To date, I've put well over 2,000 rounds through my LCP 22LR using *only* Remington Golden Bullet hollow point-- I've NEVER had a light strike. The only issues I've had were 2-3 stovepipes & 5-6 failures to extract a fired round. I've also had a few rounds that didn't go completely into battery which were easily remedied with a tap on the back of the slide. For me it's been an extremely reliable firearm, to the point that I literally carry it while I'm out jogging & don't have much conceal-carry space. Would I trust my life to it working? Actually, yes. Any malfunctions I've experienced are easy to identify & clear within 1-2 seconds. And respectfully, that can happen to any 9mm or 45ACP. For the record my brand new Glock43X had THREE stovepipes within the first hundred rounds fired. It's been flawless every since, but still... Needless to say, my LCP 22LR has been extremely reliable & I carry it often.

I’ll add my vote for the 32; I’d order one immediately if they came out with it. As for the 22, the only issues I’ve had with mine, in about 200 rounds of ammo, were 3-4 failures to fire, and that was with bulk pack ammo. The Agula Interceptors and CCI velocitors both ran fine. I also added the Hogue grip sleeve, which really helps with grip.
@matthewdeardoff50164 жыл бұрын
My LCP had some of the issues that you and others complained of. After a couple hundred rounds, most of those went away, with the exception of an occasional light strike. The spring kit from Galloway Precision seems to have remedied that. Close to 100 rounds later, no issues.
@michaelkrimmel6863 жыл бұрын
Not to be negative but I have this gun and none of these reviewers mention the fact that if you plan on carrying this it will not manually extract a unfired round without removing the magazine racking it let the unfired round drop from the bottom of the mag well then put back in the magazine rack it again and hope the new round fires. Fun range gun but if I had known about this flaw I probably wouldn't have purchased it. None of the people who reviewed this on you tube mentioned this kind of important to know if you plan on carrying this.

After lots of initial problems with my LCP II similar to the many reported ones by Lucky Gunner and others, I put in an after market stronger recoil spring, polished (with Flitz) the accessible contact areas that involve the friction of moving parts, with special emphasis on the feed ramp, then cleaned out everything with Extreme Duty aerosol gun cleaner, lightly oiled the smaller hidden moving contact points (including the mag follower), and heavily greased all other contact points that cause friction (slide, barrel, etc). By all accounts this tiny gun can be very finicky about the ammo it will, or will not, cycle, each individual having varying mileage with the ammo recommendations of others, so trial and error is the only way, and after trying out at least a dozen types of ammo found that Aguila 40gr solid lead nose (1,130fps) is the most reliable (and, oddly enough, also the cheapest) 22LR round that now runs flawlessly in my gun. No problems at all now by keeping the gun well and truly lubed, every 500 rounds, or so, doing a complete clean out and re-lube. Now looking to try out the Tandemkross extended mag bumpers that allow 4 extra rounds and a full handed grip for increased accuracy.

I CC the LCP 380. I got the LCP 22 for my mom to CC. Zero firing issues with the LCP 380, but had major rust pitting in 3 areas, which I think is unacceptable. I had it blasted and cerakoted, and all seems well for now (but it hasn't been thru another humid summer, yet). The LCP 22 is a problem child. Had 9 FTF out of 30 rounds, out of the box. I was using some Winchester ammo, not sure of the FPS. I sent it back to Ruger. They sent it back to me, saying "it just needed lubed, nothing is wrong with it". I've never purchased a gun before that I had to lube to make work. I lubed the piss out of it and sent 10 rounds of CCI Quiet thru it (740) FPS. Every single one fired, but none ejected. The consensus seems to be they like fast ammo, so I tried some creme dela creme Aguila 1280 FPS. The first 20 rounds fired fine. The 3rd clip had 1 FTF. 4th clip was fine. So, 39 out of 40 for the Aguila. And lastly I tried some 1280 FPS Winchester. Had 3 FTF and gave up on that. I'll stick with Aguila for now, but will try CCI at a higher FPS, and will try Federal. Ordered the Galloway spring kit today. It irks me to no end that Ruger KNOWS they have a SERIOUS problem with the LCP 22, but CHOOSE TO DO NOTHING TO FIX IT, OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM!!!! I have yet to hear of anyone with the Galloway correction kit that has had a FTF or FTE. Fingers crossed!

I bluntly asked her to please report this problem to her superior, and she gave me the strong feeling that she wouldn't. She denounces the Galloway spring kit. Because they adopted the angle grip, optimal for 9mm from their G19.Then forced a .22lr with a rim into that angled grip. Its flawed from the very beginning.
@Predalien1954 жыл бұрын
@@adamb2619 Ya know when I first saw the first conversions for G19's to .22 LR I thought that may be an issue. Turns out it was partially but they also needed high end ammo to run properly. Then Glock announces one, I said to myself "Hope they got it right". Nope... looks like they just made what everyone's been doing with "conversions" and did everything they did wrong too.

I bought a Ruger LCP II in 22lr last week, and took it for an extensive test run with over 1000 rounds of ammo over the last few days. I have had exactly two failures, both dud rounds with solid strikes on the casing, reloaded and tried to fire again. I even shot through 100 rounds of Federal 38gr CPHP 1260fps that was packaged in 1999 and has moved four houses. Every single one fired. I really like this gun, its a great shooter. I am currently using it to replace my 380 ACP Ruger LCP II, which I truly hate to shoot due to the recoil. Great video!

Chris, on this video and the one on the 32 Auto ammo you did a great job on analysis and presentation! I got a new LCP II 22 from Cabella's. Lots of FTFeed, FTFire, FTE problems. Gunsmith installed Galloway Precision 10% heavier spring kit. Also installed fancy red Sigurd trigger. Trigger pull wt went from 6 to 11 lbs, accuracy sucked. Gunsmith removed Galloway Precision and installed the MCarbo spring kit. Still problems. Firing pin broke. Probably around 1,000 rounds through it at this point. Meanwhile I bought two more LCP II 22s at a pawn shop. 74, wrist problems. Can't handle the recoil of LCP in 380 or the Max, or 9mm. Neither of the pawn shop pistols were reliable. Gunsmith replaced broken firing pin, installed a mix and match combination of springs to his liking and shot 100 Rem Golden Bullet 40 grain CPRN without failure, so this one is looking up. However buddy's gun will shoot Stingers and mine won't due to FTE from longer than standard case. These three guns have gone through about 3,000 rounds of Thunderbolts, Golden Bullets, CCI Mini Mags CCRN and CPHP, Aguila CPRN and HP. Velocitors, Stingers, Interceptors, and misc other ammo. Meanwhile I've partly given up on the LCP II 22, although I will continue to experiment. I've got good (> 95%) reliability with the Bersa Thunder 22 with Aguila 40 grain CPRN, the Taurus TX 22 and Compact, Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Compact, the Sig Sauer P322 and the Kel-Tec P17 mostly with CCI MM 40 gr CPRN. I solved the search for a reliable, LCP sized pocket gun by switching to the Kel-Tec P32 in 32 Auto. With a Hogue grip, an ArmaLaser TR1 instant-on laser and some mag extensions, it's great. The sweetest shooter is the Bersa Thunder 22. Love it! The second sweet shooter is the P17. All of the slightly bigger, more reliable 22s listed above will shoot 4" groups, where the LCP II 22 shoots an 8" group. I would also like to see an LCP in 32 Auto. Thanks for your great reviews!

I carry the LCP II 22lr when cycling, the LCP 380 Max for light summer clothing, and my Glock 27 other times. I use the CCI Mini Mag ammo and have had no misfires. Excellent review and great gun. The 22 round is effective as a self defense round even if it is like stabbing somebody several times with an ice pick. If my only choice was a single shot from the 380 or 5 or 6 shots from a 22 then I would chose the 22 every time.

I have had no failures yet but I did lube it a bit with G96 when I first got it home from the store (after registering it... this is NYS after all). One person that I let try the gun at the range, shot it well but had one failure. I am sure she limp wrist-ed it. The gun is more accurate than I expected and smooth to shoot. I am used to shooting 9mm Glocks and also .38 / .357 S&W revolvers so I am used to recoil. This gun is just a pleasure to shoot. I would not use it to replace my other guns but it will be useful when wearing gym clothes or out on a hot summer day. God bless.

The zero-fail ammo for my LCP 22LR was Walmart bulk Federal High Velocity 36 gr Plated Hollow-Point. It was labeled 1260 fps! (Out of a rifle maybe)! My little pistol loves it! I plan to shoot a lot more before I decide if I want to carry this, instead of the S&W M&P BG380. I really like being able to shoot this accurate .22 pistol. I got this gun because my wife got pushy. I went to check it out only, and than she was asking, how long is this going to take. I need to check it out, I said. Are you going to buy it? Hell yeah, I said. See what you can find in the store while I do the paper work, bye. Got her out of my hair and bought the best little hand gun ever. Love it. It will eat any ammo with no problem. Easy to clean, very accurate, zero problem. One thing I found, if you shoot cheap ammunition, clean it after you are done at the range. Other wise it will build up lead deposit and you will notice your bullet hitting sideways on your target. Once you clean it good with the brush until it looks like a mirror inside the barrel, the bullet will hit straight on the target. Very accurate for a small gun.

@Subtlenimbus3 жыл бұрын
I was having some light strikes myself. I replaced the hammer spring with one from Galloway precision. It’s 10% heavier. Seems to have helped. I have however noticed an overall design flaw in the 22lr version: The barrel is designed to tilt when the gun cycles. This points the chamber toward the top round in the magazine and aids loading. Unfortunately, when the slide begins to move, the chamber end of the barrel drops so low that the extractor slips off the top of the cartridge rim before the empty is fully extracted. What this means, is that if you try to unload a chambered live round, it gets stuck halfway in the chamber; the extractor lets it go just as the next round in the mag presses it up and pins it against the top of the chamber. I tried cycling through a magazine of live rounds with the gun upside down, and it functioned fine, which verified to me that the chamber was dropping too low. It made clearing occasional jams difficult. To fix it, I cut a piece off of a silicone 0-ring. The material is about 1/16” thick. I cut a piece about 1/4” long and put it in the slot in the underside of the barrel. I assembled the gun upside down so the piece wouldn’t fall out. Once the pin is back in, there is no way for it to fall out. It prevents the barrel from dropping when the slide starts moving back, but is soft enough to allow the barrel to tilt back when the slide hits the ramp on top of the chamber. Now, it extracts perfectly. Without the mod, the extractor doesn’t do much of anything. The empties just blow themselves out of the chamber like a beretta bobcat.

My wife carries a LCP II in 380 and shoots it very well, but it took time (>500 rounds). Her comment was she finally felt comfortable with the gun when it stopped chipping her nail. It was all about getting the correct draw and grip/muscle memory. I bought a LCP II in 22 mainly for practice purposes a couple months ago and initially had severe reliability problems: it never got through a full mag without a jam of some sort, regardless of ammo. But, like most 22s, it got better as it broke in. After about 1000 rounds, it was 100% reliable with just about everything except the Rem bulk packs, and that's an ammo problem. 22 practice ammo is the the Federal Bulk Pack (the copper plated HP 525 box), which it digests without a problem. POI is pretty close to POA with this load. Now her practice routine is to shoot a mag or thee of 380 from the draw, switch to the 22 for a while, and then back to the 380 for a mag or two to reset her feel. This routine works for her. She usually shoots the Mozambique and her first/cold string is typically spot on.
