Is the Tenere 700 Too Heavy for Off-Road Use ? My Thoughts and Experiences

I share my thoughts on the Tenere 700 (after my last fall) and whether its weight is a drawback for off-road use.

I think it’s very much a bike you can use off-road. The most important factor is knowing your personal limitations as a rider. I personally couldn’t operate a bike like the T7 very well off-road because of the weight, which is why I have a DR650. For the road, I would like to eventually get a v-strom.

You are so right , knowing your limitation as a rider and also the limitation of the bike is key when riding off road . I knew both my and the bike limitation and thought I can handle them when riding BUT sometimes you have to stop and rethink before getting hurt

If you not very experienced off road then you will have problems riding it off road. If you are an experienced off road rider then it's a great bike off road.

You can check the other videos in the channel and see that I am riding this bike on all sort of terrain , its a great off road machine but sometimes it can be a handful because of its top heaviness

To ride this class of bike off road you need to be able to check off these 3 items 1. You need to be an expert rider 2. You need to be in great shape 3. You need to be a minimum of 6’4” and 225lbs Unfortunately I can only meet 2 of the 3 requirements. If you want to have fun riding off road with a bike that is decent on road do yourself a big favour and buy a DR 650

I'm 6'2 and I was riding taller than stock suspension. I think you over exaggerating this one :) but I totally agree that you need to be an expert and you need to be strong. It's very top heavy and that made me move to Husqvarna 701 and loving it.

I tried the T700 extreme last week. It had the standard seat, not the rally seat, so 20mm lower seat height. Oh man it was very high, and I am riding an AJP PR7 with 920mm seat height. However that is only 168kg wet, narrower, and the center of gravity is much lower (tank under the seat)... Also it has the same low end grunt.... So I will keep riding it until I will have enough experience for the T700 :)

מזהה לחלוטין, אני בדיוק באותה נקודה. אחרי נפילה קשוחה (ויקרה בשטח) שאני עדיין מתאושש ממנה (בקטנה). מה שאני הולך לעשות זה להמתין ל-2025 ולראות אם KTM משחררים את ה-390 אדוונצ׳ר החדש שאמור להיות היוניקורן בקטגוריה. ואם לא, לעשות נסיעת מבחן על ה-CF MOTO 450 MT שנראה כמו פשרה טובה. בינתיים אני לומד לפרק ולהרכיב את האופנוע :)

I never want to sit on the Tenere for 1000Km. After that I would need 2 days off. Its the most uncomfortable bike I've owned but it looks good (sky blue Rally Edition) and presently I don't want to buy anything else.

PS: I can lift the bike but in deep sand its just too much for my liking. If I wanted to ride OFF road in real hard terrain I would alway by a Van and a true dual sport. I a Van you can transport a lot of fuel and water and tools ... For me the Tenere is a good looking bike to cruise around town and for small adventures in the vicinity of my house.

היי איציק, כל המבחנים הרציניים לטנרה שראיתי מציינים את עניין ה top heavy. לדעתי זו החולשה העיקרית של האופנוע, וזו הסיבה שלא קניתי אחד, למרות שהוא היה גבוה ברשימה שלי. כנראה שגם בדגם החדש שיצא ב 2025 שלא יהיה טיפול בבעיה הזאת לפי התמונות שפורסמו. בקטע הזה של המרכז כובד קטמ/הוסקוורנה מצאו את הפתרון עם המיכל דלק הנמוך.

אין שינוי בטנרה בדגמים החדשים בנושא הזה אתה צודק , לגבי הקטמ זה נכון שהמרכז כובד שלהם נמוך ויותר קל להרים אותם אבל יש להם בעיות אחרות כמו בעיות טכניות כאילו ואחרות . בכל מקרה כל האופנועים בקטגוריה הזו הם בסביבות 200 קילו וצריך להזזהר איתם ברכיבה שהיא יותר משבילים

אני בדיוק חושב על זה , הקפיצה לטנרה מה WR הייתה בגלל שלא אהבתי את ה 701 או ה 690 . אני צריך לראות איזה אופנועים יש בשוק כרגע ומה יהיה בהמשך ולקבל החלטה מה לעשות . אני מאוד אוהב את הטנרה ואני לא רוכב רק שבילים אלא מאתגר את עצמי בשטח אבל מפחד שהאופנוע בסוף ייפול עלי ואפצע

@@asilandau קודם כל רכבתי על ה 701 איזה שעתיים בבן שמן , למנוע יש וויברציות מטורפות לא היה לי נעים . במהירויות נמוכות הוא היה נכבה לי , יש מצב שאולי היה חסר שם איזה משהו שיכול לשפר את זה. אני 185 והרגשתי מאוד מכווץ עליו , לא היה לי נוח בעמידה עליו - אולי עם הגבהה לכידון זה היה יותר טוב יש לו מלא כוח והרגשתי שאולי זה יותר מדי כוח לשטח ובסופו של דבר אם אני אעשה טעות הוא יעיף אותי כשרכבתי עליו בכביש ונתתי גז כמעט עפתי ממנו , לא הייתי מוכן לכוח שלו אבל אני כן יכול להגיד שאולי הוא מרגיש קצת כבד אבל אפשר לעשות איתו שטח קשוח

איציק, יכול כ"כ להבין אותך. אני הגעתי בכלל מאופנועי כביש והטנרה האופנוע הראשון שנכנסתי איתו לשטח. להבדיל ממך אני לא מחפש לאתגר את עצמי ועדיין הבנתי רק אחרי שהתחלתי שהעולם הז ה כמה שהוא כייפי הוא גם מפחיד ונכנס לך למוח. אולי ה קטמ 500 כאלה יתאימו לך.

חשבתי עליו הוא אחלה אופנוע אבל לא מתאים לרכיבות כביש ארוכות וצריך החלפת שמן כל 15 שעות בערך מה שממש לא בא לי לעשות

2024 ktm 500 exc-f. Not as good at highway speeds as a Tenere… Oh well, highways are boring anyway.
