How can you disciple someone or many if you don’t preach the word and the whole word at that? The UMC denies that the bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible word of God. The UMC removes the authority of the bible to govern the lives of the saints. Genuine and true exegesis is not a strong point (if existent at all)of the UMC. Instead, the UMC chooses to believe what it wants to believe and allows the corrupt desires and sins of man to dictate their beliefs. The UMC believes in itself and not in God or Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The only leadership from the UMC is down the broad path that leads to destruction!!

@@hwaynecookUnfortunately, that is all I’ve experienced from the pulpit. Many in the congregations of the churches I’ve attended are easily led astray to accept a world view vice a biblical view. Does the Bible clearly define the requirements to serve as a pastor? Is there any passage of scripture to suggest man can achieve complete sanctification while on earth?

Wholly disagree with you. The upcoming changes to the Book of Discipline are not a rejection of The Bible, rather affirmation of it. God is love with no asterisk, and is calling all of His children to Him. Using a few selected verses (verses which are the fallible translations of man and subject to honest theological debate) to deny some of our brothers and sisters full participation in the church is the exact opposite of the UMC's mission. I am sad these congregations and parishioners are choosing disaffiliafion over opening their hearts to the full spectrum of God's love, but so be it. At this point, they are an impediment to the UMC's mission and doing God's work in the world.

@@tribbleorlflRandy, the inherent wickedness of man coupled with the workings of Satan produce doubt about the correctness of God’s word and commandments. Surely you won’t die, Satan tells Eve, she eats, Adam eats, and death (spiritual and physical) enter the world. Your belief that certain passages of the Bible are incorrect is the result of many years of instilling doubt by Satan and his minions. The worldview that homosexuality is acceptable and normal is a perfect example. Why not ordain the practicing pedophile, or those who engage in beastiality? Those two forms of sexual immorality, along with homosexuality, are abominations. You are choosing to believe whatever you want vice what the Bible clearly states. God loves His creation, but He hates sin and the wages of sin is death. The requirements to be a pastor or elder are clearly spelled out in the Bible, why do you deny those requirements? Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. Jesus said, if ye love Me, keep my commandments. If you believe what you like in the Gospel, but reject what you don’t like, it is not the Gospel you believe, but yourself. The UMC is ushering people to the wide gate and the broad way that leads to destruction. I urge you to reexamine where your beliefs come from. Are they from the Bible or from the world? Satan is the god of this world and he hates the Bible. Satan will do whatever is necessary to convince God’s people to reject the truth that is in the Bible, to disobey God’s commandments, to reject God, and ultimately to serve him.
