We're back with another one! I struggled making this for about a week because I wanted to improve this series. I almost went with something else but luckily, I got it done in time. for me, I have fond memories of both iterations of Orton, He made them work well but ultimately, It came down to preference. Like my favorite versions of him are '03 and '09 so it took me a while to decide on who wins it in the end. Which Orton iteration do you like better? My favorite Orton iterations go like this. The first two could change on any given day. 1 - '03-'04 2 - 2009 3 - 2005-2008 4 - 2018

randy orton himself said the viper gimmick was better, and was the most like him in real life, during his legend killer days, he was battling drugs and demons too much, wasn't that good on the mic, botched few times in each of his matches, and was too much into women

The Legend Killer was such a great gimmick for Randy Orton for his early years but let's face it, it had a shelf life, you can't be a Legend Killer forever because eventually you ARE going to become a Legend which he is one now pretty much. The Viper is a timeless gimmick and it's more sadistic.

Legend Killer was 100x better. His peak was his feud with the Undertaker in 2005. There was nothing captivating about The Viper, he lost his charisma, had a robotic voice and was stale. The Legend Killer had the charisma, the confidence, and unpredictability.

Obviously the viper is more sadistic and ruthless. He had no remorse for who he hurt at all. I got back into wrestling during Jericho's 2008 return and Orton quickly became my favorite.I feel, in terms of his contemporaries, Tetsuya Naito is the closest to in-ring style. Solid Babyface, better suited as a heel

I gotta go with the Legend Killer. I thought the concept of a wrestler being a 3rd generation talent to other legends and also beating legends while under the influence of other legends was amazing. Plus, to me, he seemed to put more effort into that role than he did for the Viper gimmick imo.

Orton as the "Viper" I prefer, for whom I consider was at his very best of the prime of his career back in 2009, with or without the character. The "Legend Killer" was a creatively unique heel gimmick for an upcomer which help elevated him further. I despised how believably vicious the character was portrayed of assaulting elders/icons of the business but he gave a solid performance.

Legend killer Randy. It never got stale. Viper Randy has lasted too long and never really had that perfect feud. Legend killer had mike foley and undertaker perfect feuds. Also burning in my light is a better theme. My favorite viper feud is vs Christian.

I remember when he became The Viper with Legacy by his side. It felt like they were a danger to anyone and everyone on Raw, Smackdown and even Ecw. I always felt doubt for any of Randy's opponents, even when it was Cena or Taker. (Sorry if my comment sounded stupid.)

His 2008-2012 run as the unhinged, almost serial killer like demon more specifically the heel period was just genuine good TV. Everytime Orton would come on in 2008 and 2009 I couldn't get my eyes off the TV because with him at that time in the ring it was so freaking tense, the main could snap at any minute. Even when he turned face in 2010 he still kept that unhinged characteristic with him and I still remember his MITB match against Christian in 2011 when he had lost due to DQ and the man went ballistic. I've always missed that Orton because from 2013 onwards Orton felt a lot more subdued but in 2020 when he brought his Legend Killer gimmick back I felt he also combined it with bringing back his 2009 Unhinged Gimmick and I loved it. 2008-2009 Heel Orton will always be one of my favourite versions of a character in wrestling history!

I think both gimmicks were good thats what made orton age so well youngster days trying to prove yourself you're the legend killer an arrogant young gun then as he progesses older and becomes one himself he becomes his own sorta character outside of targeting other legends as a gimmick

Randy deserved better in both runs and tbh the Age Of Orton should’ve been way better than how it was written.Randy should’ve made his debut on RAW instead of Smackdown with this being the new superstar initiative for RAW similar to Smackdown.Randy would win his debut match against some local talent and peak the interest of Flair with Flair keeping his eye on the up and comer.Batista would also make his debut on RAW instead of Smackdown and would demonstrate his abilities by destroying local talent in less than a minute.

Legend killer, that character allowed orton to show charisma and his mic skills in 05-06 were starting to become really good, but when he became the viper it stunted his growth in the mic skills department since he was speaking in the monotone voice, and he couldn’t show that much charisma either since the viper is a cold hearted loner, the viper character was cool from mid 07-11 but once 2012 hit it was downhill from there until 2020
