Is the World's first ELECTRIC surfboard fin legit?

I paddled out with the Boost electric surfboard fin to see if it actually works.

It looks like the fin would have some drag ( although that would be a reasonable trade off for someone who may have physical challenges)

Did you turn the motor off WHILE you were on the wave ? Or was the motor still on as you were riding the wave?

This looks interesting to me iI can definitely see where it would be useful to someone like me. I had to quit surfing about 20 years ago do to getting a pacemaker that actually beats my heart for me so i am unable to do strenuous work outs because my pacemaker is set at a fixed heart rate that onlky adjusts from heel strike when walking. i just worry about the battery life.

Adds 2.5 kg to the board ok in 1 foot catch 3 foot plus and the drag spoils the ride ...I had one

I don't mess with this. I see what people are saying but I feel like it adds a paywall to catching waves. Also I know they talked about older folks using it but this could easily be abused by the the middle aged guy who just wants more waves

Completely disagree. I’m a grand dad with bad knees and shoulders. I bought an e-bike and now ride the trails with my kids and grand kids. Likewise, I bought a boost fin and now surf with my kids and grand kids again because the boost is enough to catch waves and allow me to stand again. I guess when you are in my condition you can sit there and waste away. I’ll use whatever “ crutch” works to keep going and stay in the game!

Why give up surfing because of medical reasons when one can use an electric fin and keep on surfing? I pulled a muscle on my back and had to stop surfing for over a month to heal. Have I known about this when I was hurt I would have bought it

I'm open minded, but I know at a surf break that's really crowded and if some dude has this thing on their board. It would be kind of disrespectful I guess? Maybe if you were out at a break where it's not crowded or not a lot of people around. Wouldn't you agree? I mean, I know surfing is a fun sport but it's also about etiquette and some of these surf spots in California. I'll see like 200 guys out there surfing.I don't think they want some person paddling out there with one of these blower fins splashing water all over them that probably piss a lot of people off. On the other hand hey you're allowed to do whatever the heck you want out there.
