hey so here some info on setting the stop screw if it has been played with kzbin.info/www/bejne/n33JhJmfqceWq68 , essentially what i ended up having is overboost down low got my rod semi close, then kept going up with the stop until it didn't over boost . i just watched VCDS graphs and played back an forth with the 2 until i got it smooth. i was able to change the powerband massively with the 2 adjustments. now its smooth transition lots of power couldn't be happier. OH btw what IQ are you running at ? im at 5/mg seems better then 4/mg ???

Good to hear! I'm at 3.2 mg IQ but I'm thinking I should go to 4 since it does shudder a little when I come to stops. It's recommended to have a value between 3 and 5.

Hi, are you positive that this ali express cartridge is the same as the one that was assembled in poland that you purchased on ebay? Also the ali express link you have in the description says that the cartridge is for a VNT 17 (European models) not a VNT 15 like the us models

hi, nice video I bought the piece you suggested in the video and I rebuilt my turbo myself I set the vnt mechanism. . the car works well but compared to the original turbo now the car emits black smoke between 1500 and 1900 rpm and responds slightly more slowly… I have done several tests and this problem disappears if I set the mechanism vnt at -0.4 bar on the stop point but I overboost. now I have -0.5 bar stop point and no overboost but little turbo response. do you have any advice?

Hi great video, I bought the part and rebuilt my turbo. I can't find the right rod adjustment on the set screw. It currently stops at -0.5 bar. I have tried different adjustments starting at -0.6.... just found your video , im going to be pulling my turbo apart again i have a "warped" nozzle im going to pretty much do exaclty what you just did to your turbo this time not just clean it out, that was a fail its sticking again , also im getting a stage 1 tune and have 205 injector aswell :)

@@thirdgeargrind *also im going to clean my housing up more i have rust spots that are higher then the surface lets call it pitting , just in a few spots but it makes the bottom ring sit wonky, and i DID find a bent part, one of the vein blades has a lever that wasn't 90 degree with the face of the nozzle ring it hung up more then all others, i bent it back cleaned behind them all good to go ......... had too extract 2 of 3 vein bolts tonight thankful only the heads stripped, kinda figured it out there where burs and rust deposits i had missed last time. i polished it all up grabbing some bolts in the morning. im going to order 169 center for time im not waiting on dhl, my ONE question is the stop screw....... how is there housing set, and how can i check/home set one i know its not the right way but mixing parts isnt right either lol so is there some way to "check" the stop screw ? im going to backwards check by rod length and when it stops but say you have a turbo thats been played with anyway way to get it back close ?

So max pending rods are shit dont even bother with it cause i bought one and it hit alittle but the wheel spins i thought cause my last wheel exploded and i re polished it spins super free but u can here a scrape still but not enough to stop it imma try polishing tomorrow and see if not and if u tell me otherwise ill order a oem cart do u have a link to but the oem cartridge thanks

Hey! I was wondering how is that turbo holding up? How many km do you have on it? My 2000 jetta TDI's exhaust impeller went flying through the exhaust and I'm wondering if I should consider this option to fix the car. Also, the engine ran away, but I hope the engine is ok... Although I doubt it 😅

@@jeremybriand5196 I put 30,000km of the most abuse with stage 2 you could ask for (uninterrupted WOT for 5 solid minutes up a mountain, with overboost conditions) and its lived it's life with a different owner for a couple extra years now.

In my opinion yes. I installed it 2 years 30,000km ago on my daily and recently inspected it, it's still perfect. I believe so long as I continue regular oil changes it'll outlast the car.

I think I your first cartridge is for a vnt17. Not a vnt15

The first cartridge wouldn't have fit into the vnt15 compressor housing if it were actually a vnt17.

@@thirdgeargrind It's a GT1749V, vs ALH GT1749 We got the GT1749V in europe, very slightly larger turbine. They were fitted to 110hp ASV and AHF VE engines.

That was actually because of the primary egr gasket on the manifold that I reused that had blown out completely. It doesn't smoke like this at WOT anymore.

It wasn't because I was being cheap it was because I wasn't willing to wait 2 weeks shipping for bolts. I could have ordered in advance but I wasn't that organized lol. Being in Canada our stock of odd ball bolts like that is non existent.
