One of the worst mistranslations in the Word is Romans 10:4, saying Christ is the END of the Law for righteousness, when in reality a proper translation is Christ is the GOAL of the Law for righteousness 💯❤️📖

High Holy Days are also Sabbath days…so, if the High Holy Day (a Sabbath) was Thursday, when it passed (Friday) they would have bought the spices, and then they could have come to the tomb on the First Sabbath in counting of the Omer, which begins on the First Sabbath after the High Holy Day of the First Day of Unleavened Bread.

Motza'ei-Shabbat Hebrew for literally the "going-out of the Sabbath", I.e., Saturday night. By biblical and Jewish reckoning, days begin at sunset; so where the text tells us that the believers met on "the first day of the week" it means Saturday night, not Sunday. The first century Greek writing of the ‘Didache’ in 8:1 reveals that the Judeans fasted on the fourth and sixth sabbaths (σαββατων = sabbaton) that were fittingly recognized within part order to the week of seven weekly sabbaths (Lev 23:15) being observed between Passover and Pentecost.
@MisterRockaBilly
@MisterRockaBilly Жыл бұрын
The transliterated Greek phrase "mia ton sabbaton" in all of the Lord's day passages means on "one of sabbsths" being a partitive genitive phrase where "mia" is a cardinal number as "one" and not ordinal as first. Leviticus 23:15 says to observe 7 weekly sabbaths from the first fruits (Nisan 16) offering to Pentecost (Sivan 6) day. Matthew 28:1 says in the original Greek that the 2 high Passover Sabbaths (Nisan 15 & 21) had ended and Jesus rose on the next weekly Sabbath (Nisan 23) being as 1 of 7 sabbaths leading upto Pentecost.

Shalom Lex, I watch and like a lot of your videos, and this is a good one too. I do have some thoughts on it that I think are worth sharing. Let's look at the Disciples' actions. Scripture points out that it was just after Unleavened Bread. I believe it's easily inferred that these believing Jews, had just observed it, rather than by happenstance it was mentioned. The event that took place in this chapter should be the focal point, not the day of the week. The timeframe mentioned, after Unleavened Bread, may be intended just to give a general timeline as too when the miraculous event in the chapter occurred. At some point, after Paul and his companions started counting off the days to Shavuot, Eutycus falls out of the window, dies, and comes back to life. That is really the main point of this chapter. HOWEVER, more to the point of your video, for some, this translation of "on the first day of the week" is of monumental importance. It is their proof text supporting the change in the fourth commandment. Many Christian friends of mine and some Pastors have emphasized much more on the disciples meeting together on the "first day of the week" (believing it means Sunday morning and Paul talking thru Sunday night) than on the miracle. They are more focused on their "proof text" that God replaced the Sabbath with Sunday. Therefore, since first day of the week is mentioned it was establishing the meeting together of Christians (Outside of the Pope change to Sunday) as the new day of worship. They are convinced that is why the disciples were coming together and breaking bread and fellowshipping on the first day of the week. However, even after pointing them to Acts 2:46 that shows that coming together daily was common, and had it nothing to do with overturning one of the commandments, it still doesn't change their mind. For this reason, I am more inclined to believe that the translation should read "on one of the sabbaths" versus "on the first day of the week" to avoid confusion. As a side note, I learned to speak Spanish as a second language when I was young, currently I'm learning Japanese in my 50's. Japanese is very difficult, so is understanding an eastern mindset. Many words are different in Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. Japanese words can have multiple meanings (like the Greek may have at times) at different times, so sometimes it could mean one thing here but could be used differently elsewhere. Probably the same can be true for Greek. So, just because a word was used one way in a previous chapter, may not mean it must be used the same way again later. Anyhow, this is just my thoughts and experiences on this Chapter and verse, God bless.

Brings up another question, when does the Sabbath begin and end? Many would say the Sabbath begins at sundown on Friday and ends at sundown/dusk on the Sabbath (Saturday). But according to Mat 28.1 this is not the case. It says the Sabbath ended at dawn of the next day Sunday. "In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre." - Mat 28:1 KJV This verse also signifies that a new day starts at dawn rather then at sundown. This would also mean that Yahshua rose from the dead sometime before dawn on the Sabbath night, because when Mary arrived at the tome at the start of dawn (Sunday) he was not there and would also mean that Yahshua would have been crucified and buried on the previous Wedneday night. (1st full Day = Thursay night>>2nd full Day = Friday Night>>3rd full Day= Sabbath Night and rose sometime before dawn/before Sunday morning.

@@mikepotter1291 The Jewish Mishna The Jewish Mishnah (which records the oral law as it most likely would have been observed in Yeshua's day) addresses the legality of anointing a dead body on a weekly Sabbath. the Mishnah says what would have been allowed: A. They prepare all that is needed for a corpse. B. They anoint and rinse it, C. on condition that they not move any limb of the corpse. D. They remove the mattress from under it. E. And they put on [cool] sand so that it will keep. F. They tie the chin, G. not so that it will go up, but so that it will not droop [further]. H. And so in the case of a beam which broke - I. they support it with a bench or the seams of a bed, J. not so that it will go up, but so that it will not droop [further]. K. They do not close the eyes of a corpse on the Sabbath, L. nor on an ordinary day at the moment the soul goes forth. M. And he who closes the eyes of a corpse at the moment the soul goes forth, lo, this one sheds blood. (p. 207, The Mishnah, A New Translation, Shabbat 23:5) So the women rested according to the Law on the Passover Sabbath (Lev. 23:6-7), but they had legal justification to go to the tomb on the weekly Sabbath. So it was not forbidden. This is the only law that Andrew Mckeown could have been referring to.

We certainly need to unlearn this exhibition of mental gymnastics! Four things happened on the first day of the week: The Lord Jesus rose (Luke 24) The Holy Spirit came (Acts 2) The weekly remembrance meeting (Acts 20) The weekly collection of gifts (I Corinthians 16) While 7 means completion, 8 means a new beginning… God was starting a new thing, namely the church… the Bride of Christ (Ephesians 5)… from the nations (Ephesians 1)… suitable for His Son and who will reign with Him (Revelation 1). How glorious… a sinner and enemy, saved for glory with Christ… and we remember this is all through His work… after His resurrection on that Sunday.

Ya pretty scary I thought as well. The whole calendar is pagan as well. We have a Roman calendar that is in use to this day. Janus is the Roman god with two faces that looked to the past and the future simultaneously. January is that same god. Wonder why we all grew up with looking back at the previous year while looking ahead to the next with New years resolutions? The Roman year starts in the middle of the night (darkness) and in the middle of the winter (darkest time of the year). The biblical calendar starts in the spring and each month begins with a visible sighting of the new moon while the day ends at sundown when another begins. All the biblical feasts which are pictures and shadows of things to come, are counted off of the biblical calendar... and all the prophetic events in the future are related to the festivals and calendar of the bible.

I often listen to Alexander Scourby reading the KJV while reading my HalleLuYah Scriptures and I found this bit: Look at Lamentations 1:7 The King James Bible states it like this: Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that she had in the days of old, when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, and none did help her: the adversaries saw her, AND DID MOCK AT HER SABBATHS. Every other translation but one reads like this or similar: Berean Standard Bible In the days of her affliction and wandering Jerusalem remembers all the treasures that were hers in days of old. When her people fell into enemy hands she received no help. Her enemies looked upon her, LAUGHING AT HER DOWNFALL HOW in the world did they translate mocking Sabbaths while others translated Laughing at Her downfall? Something smells kind of fishy here. "One of the sabbaths" is correct and it references one of the 7 sabbaths that are counted between Passover and Shavuot (Pentecost). Pentecost means to count 50 in Greek. In the Hebrew counting we are to count seven sabbaths plus a day (49 + 1 = 50). The reason why there was a Sabbath that passed before the women came to the tomb on one of the sabbaths, is because there are also non-weekly sabbaths in the Hebrew bible. Not all sabbaths are the weekly sabbaths. During some of the festivals such as Passover, there are special Sabbath days that are not the weekly 7th day sabbath.

In judaism back side of cow is considered as non kosher. What do you think about it? is back side of cow non kosher? in Genesis 32:32 it says that isralites dont eat certain tendon of animal, but it sounds like its more as tradition not a prohibitation. Because i dont see specific law about this in bible. in Genesis 32:32 it says Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon.

Mr Lex, thanks for the try but its still not clear because its recorded that the body of the Messiah was taken for burial on the preparation day before the weekly Sabbath day which is Saturday, which means that He must have rose on a Monday or Tuesday and not rather on a Sunday/First dqy as the English translators want to note.. Mark 15:42-43 [42]And now when the even was come, because👉 it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,👈 [43]Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. The greek translation is clear here that it was a preparation day before the weekly Sabbath and not like the sabbath on which He rose which was an interval day between sabbaths thats mentioned in Mark 16:1,2 For that whole week was considered a week of sabbaths.

Hi Lex just seen your video, I was one of those people questioning the translation first day of the week. I do not question the integrity, I believe this has more to do with tradition and the need the for some early christians to separate themselves from Judaism. I have the greatest respect for you Lex, I believe you are sincere, however on this matter I do not concur and here is why: The Greek phrase transliterated phrase mia ton sabbaton means "one of the Sabbaths." The Greek transliterated word mia is "one," NOT "first." Additionally, the Greek word sabbaton is plural. Grammatically, it doesn't make sense to translate this phrase as the "first day of the week," an alleged reference to Sunday. However, most English translators render the cardinal "one" as the ordinal "first," the plural "sabbaths" as the singular "week" and insert the missing word "day" into the phrase in order to try and make it fit the traditionally accepted Sunday resurrection scenario. Since the Greek language had no word for Sabbath, the translation into Greek borrowed the Hebrew word "sabbaton." Borrowed or imported words retain their sound - proper names are an example of this. If you are listening to the Moscow news (in Russian) you will hear words like Biden, Washington, D.C., dollar, America. It is a principle of transliteration that if a word is imported because it has no equivalent in the new language, it's meaning in the new language is invariably going to be the same as in the original language. The New Testament writers could have used the Greek word "hebdomadas" to refer to a week. Even the Septuagint (LXX), the Greek version of the Hebrew scriptures translated about 280 BC, uses the word "hebdomadas" for the Hebrew word for "week" numerous times. Examples of its use are Lev 23:15, Deut 16:9 and Dan 9:24. The Septuagint was widely available in the time of Jesus and was used in synagogues of Asia Minor, Achaia, and Macedonia, and Greece. The book of Acts mentions synagogues in various places outside of Israel: Acts 13:5, 14; 14:1; 17:1, 18:19 etc It would have been logical for the gospel writers to have used this Greek word for week as it had been previously used in the Septuagint The Greek word "sabbaton" used in "mia ton sabbaton" is plural as shown by the letter "n" at the end. If the concept of a "week" was legitimate, it should have been translated as the plural "weeks." If mia ton sabbaton was an idiom for first day of the week which has been suggested, then when translating idioms, the meaning must be conveyed not by a literal word-for-word translation but by a translation of the meaning of the idiom in the original language to the same meaning in the new language. If, in the original language, the phrase in question idiomatically meant "first day of the week" then in the Greek it should be translated into, the words (or close 7) for "first" (protos), "day" (hemera) and "week" (hebdomas) would have to have been used. There is a lack of evidence for the idea that "mia ton sabbaton" was an idiom designating the first day of the week. Also, there is so much other evidence which I do not propose to go into this post (as this post is long enough) that points to the resurrection having been on the seventh-day early in the the morning which would be consistent with the literal meaning of "mia ton sabbaton." There is much much more I could say but I will leave it here.

well I am still not really sure about mia ton sabbaton, at the very least it sounds matter of factly stating the day and is not something to base a change of the Sabbath on. One thing though I would like your perspective on is whether a biblical day really starts at sunset. Doing some searching have found lots of evidence it is at sunrise here is a portion of that: In order the creator names the day first and the night last. 5 And G-d (YHUH) called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.The biggest support for it is from genesis where it reads like "And the evening and the morning were the first day". Other translations give meaning that the creator, was creating during the day, then came evening, and the morning to end the day, then the next day at sunrise would be more creation, until the evening and morning would come again. Showing the morning was the end point of the day. Here is that other translation: NLT version "G-d called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day. This makes much more sense in english, From evening to morning is only 12 hours and not a full day, what happened in the morning til evening time? Now here is the big verses to deal with. John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. (the day still cometh, yet was still dark, showing dark will lead to light of new day) then to top it off.... in the same Chapter talking about the same day we get: "John 20:19 “Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Yahushuah (J-sus) and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.” The evening was counted as the same part of the first day of the week! to me this is absolute proof the day begins at sunrise to sunrise. and the rest is modern J-diasm error, just like S-tan convinced Chr-stians to live in error. Shalom.

@@codyalexander3290 Good question, and someone else may come here and give their advice but here is mine. We don’t define what the truth is there is only one Truth and thats God. There are also observable truths in our world for example 2+2=4 that will always be true. But when it comes to topics concerning our theology we may think that we have the truth but if it goes against Gods truth than its not really the truth. There are some things that believers disagree on and thats normal being human however if you are open to discussion you can find out whether or not a believers “truth” actually aligns with Gods truth. We learn new things everyday so we shouldn’t condemn someone for not knowing certain things we are all on this walk and we are meant to help each other. It is best to pray for discernment and ask God to convict you of false beliefs and wait for His answer if you are unsure about something. Always refer to The Word as the ultimate source of Truth. I wonder why the concordance lists sabbaton to sabbath translation in the Greek (4521), except in the gospels when Mary goes to the tomb it's translated first day of the week? all other sabbaths are properly translated from sabbaton to sabbath. So there is still something fishy about this. But the bigger problem is that sunday pastors will use this to nullify the fourth commandment and say that Yeshua changed Gods law.

I agree about translators missing the context , I found many words used to imply wrong meaning and causing confusion , one word that misleads is the word , might , meaning what , Maybe or absolute ( Dunamus). Words like. Some implying some do some don’t, Or. Part of , as Paul shares part of him does the sin , and part of him serves righteousness. When translating we must stay with the context . Context means, con (with). Text means (message). What is the message of the gospel .? Deviate from the message , comes confusion. That’s where we are at . Our translations teach that GOD is all knowing, yet HE DOESN’t know , GOD TEMPS NO MAN NOR IS HE TEMPTED, yet GOD was tempted 🧐 GOD is love YET , that can change , It teaches that GOD wants, or HE wishes , implies that GOD HIMSELF wishes on a star or crosses HIS fingers and inquires on jimmy the cricket, That GOD created evil , That man is evil from the beginning and corrupt and for man to achieve salvation is impossible , but not really man can do it 🧐.

@@codyalexander3290 Its pretty clear what day it is. The NT says Mary rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment as Jesus was dead in the tomb. Jesus died on the Sabbath and rested and rose on the first day of the week. The Jews have been keeping the Sabbath since it has been commanded as well. Unless someone has proof of a massive conspiracy that all the Jews came together and changed the history sometime in the past and that the NT writers were wrong then there is no contention about what day it is.

@@xintimidate scripture speaks for itself. The command itself says differently than what you are saying. Sure they came up with a tradition to keep it on a certain day but the command itself allows room for interpretation otherwise it would be more clear. It is a command not a suggestion therefore when one takes it literally at face value the command simply does not say it has to be on a set day.

@@codyalexander3290 "it says differently than what you are saying". All I did was repeat what the Bible said are you serious? There is no room for interpretation Mary literally rested on the Sabbath when Jesus was in the grave that is 100% proof that it is on Friday evening to Saturday. If I were you I would stop playing around with the word of God and trying to find justifications to not keep the Sabbath. The Sabbath is a blessing. Not a curse so stop treating it as such.
