When she hit that very first note a cappella every single judge knew who the winner of that season was going to be. I rewatch this clip often as I love seeing the the expressions and comments of the 4 judges as Aida resumes singing. And that little skip Aida does at the very end as she thanks them and exits feels very wholesome, that she is genuinely grateful.

There is something so magical about this version unlike the later professionally sanitzed versions and perhaps why this version is still my favorite. Her nervousness, and just her ttoal involvement in the song make this one special. There is also something a bit different in the backing track and yes, the microphone does have some reverb, all of which the engineers knew. Also, the producers could clearly see that there was sound coming from the microphone so one has to wonder why the drama about lip syncing. However, this performance is stellar and I have not found the others to be at the same level. Still amazing as she is but this one is a classic.

@@GutsEnthusiast They cleared that she wasn't lip-syncing, so it's all good, my mistake. But it isn't like that in all situations. Like, having a fit body because you work really hard, but then someone is like "too good to be true" and accuses you of using steroids. Some people would believe that and in turn, taint your reputation. It's my mistake that I didn't clarify. She probably worked hard to be able to sing like that, and when someone else comes along and calls her a faker simply because she's too good, then it would be rude because that's basically discarding what the girl did to get there.

I especially like, after the judges stopped her and asked her to sing a cappella, the way the audience very subtly and quietly supported her by clapping along. It was a nice way to help her feel encouraged and supported. You can see by her mouth that she's upset when the judges stop her, before they speak. What nice people that Ukrainian audience must be!

I think they thought they WERE apologizing. People do this thing where they talk like they have already apologized but they have NEVER said the words "I'm sorry" or "I apologize". My mother's side of the family do this ish ALL THE TIME. When I call them on it, they get really mad and try to claim they already said it. (Wannabee Gaslighters) When I tell them "Ok then say it again. Say the words. SAY THE FREAKING ACTUAL WORDS." They can't/won't/don't say it. But they want you to forgive them.
