Average TikTok user whose attention span has been so depleted they think glances are long stares
@seanryan3020

That literally happened to me once. I was at the store, and this girl with purple dreadlocks and a face full of piercings was walking toward me. I turned my head *away,* and when we passed each other, she said, "It's not polite to stare." Let me make that clear: I literally tried to *avoid* looking at her, and she accused me of staring at her. 🤦‍♂️

okay pov you're the guy at the gym: you just got done with your set and take a little break. maybe you just let your gaze casually wander around the room. maybe you see the girl and think she's cute and throw a few glances at her. the girl is recording with her phone and you're most likely in the frame. maybe that makes you uncomfortable or you're just curious as to what's going on, so you keep looking in her direction. she then starts to talk to herself, keeps staring at you in the mirror and looks back at her camera to make funny faces. at this point i would assume she's either talking about me/ making fun of me or WANTS me to come over and talk to her. i'm an ace girl and socially awkward, but if someone kept looking at me for several minutes and did the little smirky thing she did, i would take that as either flirting or mocking lol. i understand why she would overreact. if you're used to getting hit on or harassed by men, you can kinda get oversensitive and lash out at someone who didn't mean any harm, but girlie in the video had a whole lot of time thinking about whether or not to upload this clownery and still chose to embarrass herself. the guy did nothing wrong and didn't deserve to be publicly scrutinized.

It just isn't worth the constant, "wait... did I do something? I try to be polite... but maybe I came off weird? Or did I say this instead of that?" It really isn't worth it. Generally, any relationships I've formed in the last decade have been because I was approached. And even if not valid, I'm not trying to set off someone else. Warranted or not. Why weed is a social gate. Probably the least awkward way of establishing new connections. In my experience, most people in those circles tend to be far less judgemental off the cuff.

Then other would just approach me out of nowhere and be....kinda abrasive....almost femcelish. the way both guys and gals look at you as a more feminine guy are so strange and makes me feel like im wrong just being there. The guys are actually either really awkward but nice, or are just a straight up bottle of rage and insecurity to everyone around. I'm a femguy too. I don't talk to people at the gym, but the only weirder interactions were from older men that came a little too close and were staring a little too longer, the women mostly kept to themselves in my experience. But again, my mom was followed home by a guy that was from her gym, luckily she was on her car and confronted the guy that went away without providing a reason why he was tailing her.... I rather not talk to people bc of that, and as long as they're not literally a couple centimeters from my body/touching me or making suggestive remarks I just don't do anything about it

I've learned to just be open and say to back up and that their making me uncomfortable. Gyms are nice because their will always be at least 1 person to help you and defend you, man or woman. Another thing that's important is that a lot of weightlifters actively keep others in their peripheral vision in case of an emergency. Yes, because someone around you in person is more capable of being a threat. When you're on camera you choose when people see you, how they see you, and you can leave anytime. You can even control who gets to see you at all. In person (unless you never leave the house) you can't. There is no block button in real life. It's why any teenager could comfortably make a youtube video doing a a song cover and get 300 views but wouldn't be comfortable doing it live on stage in front of the same amount of people. You need to step back and realize you're essentially justifying harassment. The end point you've made is that it's okay to just stare at someone and make them insanely uncomfortable as long as they have any social media. It doesn't matter if that's actually what happened in this situation because that the argument you've made regardless.

What I was talking about in the first comment is easily spotted if you see a man using any excuse to get women's attention under the pretense of "helping" them, but they never act that way towards other men, or women who are not conventionally attractive. That's the sign to look for: are they being just as "nice" to people they aren't sexually interested in? And this is kind of a tangent, but I don't think that assuming someone wants to fuck is assuming the worst. Honestly I think this is bait of some sort. The editing between the stares is really weird with the jump cuts. The one time they actually show a whole stare, they barely look at them for like half of a second. As well as when the person tries to help with the weights, when they leave, they put some pretty nasty stuff on screen and say "underage 21 year old." I can almost assure you that I would look in someone's direction a few times if I heard them whispering stuff to themself at the gym while filming. We also dont know the time between all of the stares, or the duration, so obviously I hope nothing sinister was actually going on here. Of course you shouldnt be a creep and just glare at people at the gym, but this just seems so perfectly constructed as bait... idk could be wrong here tho edit: also just wanted to point out that the person seems to back off helping the woman with the weight when they ask so now im really not sure about this, but to be honest I hope its bait and that nothing bad actually happened

This "drama," did accomplish one thing. It pointed out how much of a red flag this woman is. Anyone who refers to themselves as a "underage 21 year old," probably isn't someone you want as a partner.

I'm someone with social anxiety, whenever I go out I can't help but worry about the most irrelevant things like where my eyes are placed. Normally I'd think about it and realize it's stupid to fuss over something like that, but apparently with some people my fears are warranted...

If I were the gym owner and I came across this video of hers, I'd revoke her gym membership and ban her from the premises for being a troublemaker. She's not recording herself working out, she's creating a scenario to draw attention to herself and playing victim on camera.

Fr if someone was talking to herself at the gym looking like she was having a panic attack I'd probably stare a lot harder than that.

Men need to start a trend getting back at these types of women by starting their own 'stare counter'. Women glance all the damn time in gyms too, they're just much better at not getting caught.

I get you! It's expensive and time consuming to dress nice-- worst thing is when you do that and people pretend you don't exist because they think it's polite. Like if I'm trying to look good I obviously want you to tell me that I do??

So... It's also possible he was waiting on the weights she was using. He maybe was trying to hurry her along when he came over to help her put the weights on the bar. He might have also clued into that he was being recorded, as she kept looking at the camera. Oh should I be offering to help? Why am I being recorded? Is this like a thing where she is trying to show me just sitting here nearby while she struggles to get these weights on? There are so many valid reasons for what we see from this guy. Her on the other hand...

Its funny because people who workout hard know that when your body produces adrenaline and endorphins working out, you just kind of naturally scan around you. Its a basic human function.

I can’t speak on the specifics of this story, but there have been men that just watch me at the gym. Like, I don’t care because my body is beautiful and I would stare if I saw it on someone else. But it’s obvious what they’re doing. They aren’t just “looking between sets.” They’re following me around the gym to continue staring. As I said, _I_ don’t care, but others might. It‘a weird AF if you notice someone staring like this and you don’t like being stared at. You can feel their eyes on you as more than just a glance.

I'd say the problem here doesn't lie with being uncomfortable with staring Men; noone defended that. But with her, shooting a video, unbeknownst to him, without showing *really* anything? He's clearly not staring.

I can’t wait to get back to this mindset. I used to LOVE my body. I worked hard on it, was strong and fit. Then I had two babies. I FINALLY got back to the gym after not going for 8 years. I like my body…sort of…by want to love it again. The confidence you have is great.

If you notice something like that happen, I could see a defensive recording, just in case. Posting it while mumbling to yourself in this weird rage, and doing this every time a person sees you in a public space seems more like a brand than a genuine problem they're having

I can understand being nervous if some built guy approaches you. Makes sense. But when he offers help and then leaves... why are you still upset? The imagined threat was proved to not exist, so that's the point where you go "wow, my preconceived notions were wrong".
