My main two issues with bluesky is the fact that when you first make an account literally 99% of the posts are either people glazing about how great BlueSky is, or posts about US politics. I've been constantly hitting 'not interested' on those posts and it doesn't seem to change the algorithm at all. I started muting every word under the sun that relates to politics and it's starting to get better.

Bluesky is utterly unbearable with the Discover feed. Constant stream of political posts, often where the things they're saying are in the image so you can't filter them out. For people who fled to Bluesky to get away from "MAGA people" they sure can't stop talking about them. It all depends on how many people are on what platform. If nobody uses twitter that doesn’t mean there is no more bots. It’s that the bots move to bluesky. Bluesky API is also free and easier to use than twitters making botting significantly easier

I absolutely love reading and hearing complaints about bluesky's vibe. Twitter posts have become worse and more annoying and if you think theres no spice in bluesky, you belong on twitter, stay there and enjoy the misery lmao

The issue is that quote dunks don't work on BlueSky, you can shut them down even without a block, and there's a lot of people who get all their personal validation from dunks

@@mocapcow2933 good for you that you hate both. I'm not ride or die for either of them but what are you assuming I use twitter and bluesky for? I use them to find art, memes and video game stuff but now almost everything is filled with bots, rage bait, engagement farming, people getting harassed/doxxed for the smallest inconvenience. The algorithm now shows me so much junk and bullying about ANYTHING. Meanwhile in bluesky I can block all the junk and cringe posts and it doesnt try to feed me more of it. Yeah it is very "care bear" vibes but at least there's no monetary value in making garbage ragebait slop (political or not).

@ all i'm saying is that blueksy will devolve to degeneracy too or too irrelevancy. at the same time, twitter is cool, because it's so bad that you don't want to stay on it for long. i just dislike people try to have this attitude as if blueksy isn't also just a company. stop thinking you are getting into this wholesome little website

@@mocapcow2933 I rarely comment at all, let alone on this website, but not to devolve into this debate, I just wanted to highlight your last line of THANK YOU. I hate both Twitter and Bluesky for different reasons (the userbase on both sites rub me the wrong way, and this is coming from someone who had tumblr since 2014), but I think what really irks me is the artists/users that just continuously glaze Bluesky, as if it is their saviour. Don't get me wrong, i am sure Bluesky's users are "nicer" and that there "are no toxic people compared to X", but something about this facade and toxic positivity is starting to get on my nerves. I think it is simply that, as you put it, they are making themselves believe that is is a "wholesome little website." I have nothing to contribute overall here, but thank you for helping me put my thoughts into a label of "this is just another company, please stop deluding yourselves."
