And like dynamic duos, Mario - Jagr, Crosby - Malkin, the odds do go up (McDavid and Leon), eventually will make your argument mute.

It's unbelievable how difficult it is for people to understand that one player, no matter who they are, can't win a cup. It takes 20 guys playing at the height of their abilities, it takes the coaching staff making the right calls and right moves, and even when everything is going perfect, you still have to beat four other teams who are after the very same thing. Cup wins, much like Olympic medals, have so little to do with any one player that they shouldn't even be considered personal accomplishments.

I was the first person to use the term McOver-rated. I wouldn't call Craig Janney a superstar and by the same token I wouldn't call McDavid a superstar. He only scored 8 goals in 25 playoff games in the recent playoffs. That's terrible.

He’s from Florida, obviously he knows nothing about sports, let alone hockey. Miami is probably the worst sports town in North America. Their baseball team is a perpetual joke, they did manage to win a World Series and couldn’t give away tickets. Their football team has finally managed to put together a halfway decent team, and they play in front of empty seats. Their basketball team when they were in the finals, with lebron James on the team couldn’t sell out the barn in the finals. The hockey team survive because of all the ex pat Canadians who live there, and they have some of the cheapest tickets in the league.

Some leafs fan/ Oilers hater slashed one of my tires while I had it parked in the office parking lot. No other car was damaged since my car was the only one with Oilers stickers. I have a wild take for them Mcdavid is underated!!!! This is a typical (although surprising) story from someone who doesnt understand hockey is the ultimate team sport. Why didnt ovechkin grew this kind of scrutiny for not winning a cup during his career as much as mcdavid? (Until he did win one). Was it because of social media now, because mcdavid is in canada market? Or is it because mcdavid is the best player and ovechkin was not considered the best because crosby? Mcdavids leadership is underated. Check his defensive stats. Hit hits, his face off % , his takeaways are all higher then anyone career wise and especially this past last year when u compare his to other top players who rival mcdavid for MVP. Kuch, mackinnon etc. Mcdavid is so underated. Dont let the constant media stats persuade you hes overated. Mcdavid is underated imo

Comparing Gretzky to McDavid purely on length of time it takes to win a cup is not fair. Gretzky played before the salary cap. It is much harder for teams now to field "dynasty" style teams and the Oilers team that Gretzky won the cup with was one of the best teams in NHL history. They actually won the cup again after Gretzky was traded. Remember that. Everyone is saying McDavid should lead his team to win the Stanley Cup but the Edmonton team was so good they proved they could win the cup without Gretzky. The current Edmonton oilers wouldn't even be in the playoffs without McDavid. Gretzky never won a cup again after he left that Edmonton team... of course, he was passed his prime then. IMO, the only position that truly can win a cup for a whole team is goalie and Practick Roy proved that.

McDavid *IS* overrated. That is, however, thanks to the unrealistic picture that "fans" and fans have of him, not because he isn't insanely skilled. He's the best offensive forward, but he's also human and makes mistakes. He does get outplayed sometimes. Everyone does.

Florida will be physical with the top 3 guys. Usually less penalties in the final, advantage Florida. McDavid has not proved himself yet. He is very dependent on his wingers to go to the hard spots. He is not very good defensively. Does not mean he can't do it. Goaltending usually decides. That is a big ask for Skinner and a defence prone to mistakes. Deck stacked against Edmonton.

Florida fan here, but Greg Cote is as irrelevant when it comes to hockey down here as he is in Canada. South Florida newspapers barely cover the Panthers and only started now that the team has had more success of late. Fans and locals that know anything about puck down here know how good and dangerous Mcdavid is and not overlooking a guy who more then likely will be #2 greatest to ever play. Should be a great series.

Mcdavid IS overrated until he wins the Stanley Cup. And even then, with all the talent that Edmonton has, that they haven't been able to muster a cup yet, is an abomination. The reason why Gretzky only has four but Edmonton has five cups is because the entire team gelled around Gretzky and that core unit managed to win another one. Mcdavid has a core unit right now and yet no cup. The reason why Gretzky never got another cup is because he didn't have time to gel a team around him. The guy who wrote the article that brought me to this video doesn't have a clue what he's talking about.

i dont get the Mcdavid over rated thing ...he's basically on the same pace (should the oilers win the cup) that Yzerman was when he finally won in the late 90s...and like Yzerman he had to wait for the team to get better though those Wings teams had TON more depth and better goal tending ,,,if McDavid wins this yr it will be with a team thats probably not as good overall as the Yzerman had when they won the first time in the 90s....granted Mcdavid is playing at higher level then Yzerman(with his injury problems) was by the mid /late 90s

Calling Forsling a tough matchup for McDavid is crazy. The team defense and Bobrovsky make him look a lot better than he is. Put him on most other teams and it’s painfully evident that he’s not Nick Lidstrom, he’s barely a Hampus Lindholm. There’s a reason he was waived twice.
