Call any tool and die shop in the area, talk to a foreman and ask for a recommendation. They are all over the place but unknown to the average person. The geometry on that blade is not ordinary. Find someone who will take the time to match the factory settings not just grind it like every blade that comes in the door. I would say you could get a blade sharpened for about $65.

Just a note to add blade kerf aka thickness really comes into play when used on a tablesaw with riving guide or knife. Because some people out there will use a miter saw blade designed for the miter saw on a tablesaw, and a thin kerf blade with a thicker sized riving knife will cause kickback and possible damage or loss of fingers to a person or persons in the area
@creepyloner1979 Жыл бұрын
miter saws and table saws use the exact same blades.
@krhorne3 жыл бұрын
For thin kerf blades, you can add blade stiffeners to help prevent bending. The thin kerf is a good option for low powered saws. Another nice benefit on table saw is, it produces about half the dust.

yeah i switched to a thin kerf to get more power out of batteries, faster cuts and less saw dust.

100%. I think the same with Table saws, I know the battery tools prefer a thin Kerf blade, but a thick meaty blade wont deflect as easy. At the end of the day I'll take a slower cut with a wider kerf over a thin blade that zips on through

Oh yeah, I was going to mention this as well, never used one of their blades but just hear about them recently, hear good things, and if I'm not mistaken, the blades are around 165$ but they can be sharpened hundreds of times and they have a lifetime warranty. from my current understanding, however I could be wrong on some of this since I never actually owned one. so thanks for mentioning this.

I agree that deflection is a problem on miter saws that doesn't get much attention. If you ever have to do a bevel miter cut in large hardwood crown molding like on top of kitchen cabinets.......you will wish you had that premium blade. Sometimes you only get one shot to make that cut.....especially in hardwood which is usually stain grade. With paint grade you can fix it with a scarf joint, filler, and a little paint.

I just visited the FS Tool website. They talk about resharpening, as in "RE-MANUFACTURED. SHARPENED TO NEW.Reforming an application specific geometry on unique carbide grades is challenging, which is why we use the same grinding centers as we did to initally produce the tool. This difference is how we deliver on our commitment to provide exceptional performance throughout the cutting tool's life-cycle." They don't list prices for the service, but is sure looks like they re-sharpen.

Forrest not only makes phenomenal blades, but they’ll sharpen *and repair* blades of any brand! The Forrest blades have nice big hunks of carbide for their teeth, so they can easily be sharpened a number of times, and their sharpening service will also braze-in new teeth to replace any that have gotten chipped or broken. I just got back a batch of blades from their sharpening service that included two of their own, a Freud and a Diablo. The Freud and Diablo cut better now than when they were new; I can’t possibly recommend Forrest highly enough, they set the standard for the entire industry! :-)

You can get Diablo blades that are full kerf too, but will likely have to order them online. Just curious about how the extra weight of the full kerf blade is being handled by the flex volt. I found it was taking longer to brake and was concerned it was maybe added wear and tear on the saw so i stopped using the heavier blade. I'm still up in the air on the longevity of the flexvolt saw and its brushless motor , treating it like a baby. only time will tell. Have you noticed anything in particular now using it for almost a year? I was even thinking of dropping to a 10" blade , so sick of the deflection as we're cutting a lot of hardwoods lately on our jobs. Cheers.

Find a sharpener. I have a sharpener down the road that sharpens carbide saw blades as well as drill/auger bits. He sharpens 80-120 tooth carbide blades for $20-$30 depending on condition; he also flattens them out. We run 2-3 of each tooth count/profile we use so we can always have 1 available on a saw while allowing one to be sharpened. We usually put a few together before running them down because he’ll give us a deal. He sharpens about everything to a heck of an edge. I figure over the years he’s probably saved us at least a thousand dollars as we can get 6-12 sharpening out of a blade depending on the blade, carbide size, and wear. Personally I like Diablo’s 96 tooth TCG for longevity; you should be aware Diable also makes full curf blades (1/8”). The red blades you were running were their thin curf blades; they have full curf in both a red and silver depending on the blade version.

I purchased a Forrest top o dee line Chopmaster 12” 90 tooth Signature line mitersaw blade. It too has thee 1/8” kerf and obviously the thicker steel plate. Paid a lil o’er $200 for her pleasures and will say she is a marginal cutting improvement from the former equivalent Diablo blade by Freud. One thing this Forrest blade has on it that the Diablo never had is rust. For $200 the blade should have a coating on it like a Diablo. Rust formed just from having the head of the saw locked down one night on a humid day. Not a stain but minor pitting. I was more than upset to need to take a Scotchbrite pad to this week old high falootin saw blade. Now I try and wipe her down with a lil bit of oil before slipping it in for the night. If you have a Diablo and it’s cutting better than you deserve, keep it. This is my second Forrest blade. The first, a Woodworker II for my table saw threw more teeth than an old woman from Indiana. I’m certainly not the guy yellin “Run Forrest, Run!”
