@@nrXicI honestly don't understand how Bouchard is considered a top d man and on the pp too. I'm not an Edmonton fan usually, but I watched them all the way through this post-season and Bouchard was notably terrible and responsible for a lot of goals against. He just didn't seem to have general hockey sense, he was never ready for a pass, like on the pp, instead of one timing it or a quick redirect/shot at the goalie when he got the puck, he'd seem to need to collect and position himself to shoot AFTER receiving the puck. And then he still would never shoot, he'd panic pass it to someone who's covered. Other times just standing around blocking Skinner from seeing the puck. I thought he was terrible, but the announcers were hyping him up, so I must be missing something. I'm all here for some Bouch bombs lol.
@nrXic5 ай бұрын
@@ChyloeReece The numbers demonstrate that he pushes offense. It's not just the fact that he was +34, which was 5th in the entire NHL for defenders, it's his ability to move the puck up ice which gives his offense more time with a puck and a chance to score. So he's not much of a shutdown defender but when he gets the puck he moves it up really quickly. I think even he would admit that he's not the best defender out there. In regards to him shooting, this season was his 3rd full NHL season so I'm sure that will come with time. Which is one reason why I think he's getting hyped quite a bit, because he is so incredibly early in his development that the rest will come in, from being a better defender to contributing more to offense. Like I said, I think pairing him with Ekholm boosted his defensive numbers this season. But with the defenseman hitting their prime in their seventh to ninth season He still has an opportunity to become better. I'm far more worried about Nurse. Never mind his insane contract, but I don't think he's playing any better than a third pairing at the moment. I wonder if he was injured.

Defense wins championships. And there worried about forwards. Makes sense.

On paper they are now SC winning team, but then again, quite a many stars aligned in their last run. SC favorites ? Absolutely. Will they win it ? Well, roughly 100 games ahead can change everything, also for the worse...

We won't know until they actually hit the ice.

We already do know. They have the same team that went to the SCF.....and adding 100-ish goals to the roster with a full year of Henrique plus Arvy and Skinner

How's this sound for round one of playoffs next season: Line 1 - McDavid/Skinner/Hyman Line 2 - Draisaitl/Holloway/Arvidsson Line 3 - Nuge/Kane/Mcleod Line 4 - Henrique/Brown/Janmark Corey Perry an extra No one in the league can match that or even get close (well maybe the Leafs, just ask the media lol). That's a scary lineup

not sure they are better; mostly they are becoming a very old team. How about some young improving talent rather than old players in decline?

Mmmm we’ll see. I guess on paper it sounds alright. Jus came off as Edmonton’s yearly shiny “new” forward/s acquired, little to no changes on the backend nor in net. Praying for a wagon but we’ll see

Vinny is gone and Broberg is replacing him. That's a massive upgrade

Why do they need changes in net? As long as Skinner gets enough rest he's a very good goalie as he's proven all year

Losing Desharnais and Foegele is bigger than people think. They contribute beyond their points contribution & provided what little culture they had. Hockey-wise, they should have targeted a guy like Schmidt, and that's reinforced by the contract he took. Team-wise, I like Arvidsson, but still put the two losses above Skinner. And with the salary given to Arvidsson, I would have preferred Teravainen...
@dungeree72925 ай бұрын
Broberg is better than desharnais and the combination of Arvidsson and Skinner is significantly better than foegle. Losing those 2 is irrelevant

Yes but there is a massive difference. The players on the Oilers have made the playoffs consistently in recent years and have compiled battle scars and experience in the playoffs over time. Ottawa has not even came close to reaching the post season ever since they drafted Brady
