I’ve followed you since you began posting. I love what you’re doing with the 996’s. Taking them in, going through them with a fine toothed comb and rectifying all issues regardless of the shopping list required. Keeping the 996’s alive and in perfect condition therefore future proofed for their new owners. You’re the “996 whisperer”! 😎😂

I looked at buying an ocean jade 996 C2 coupe around 6 months ago. I think the colour is quite interesting but worried about resale when all my friends and family thought it was horrid! Anyway, I think this looks superb, great spec too, those hollow spokes only came standard on turbos and they are a bit more common on the C4s, but on a standard carrera it’s a special find. Obviously a proper drivers spec car - kudos to the original owner! Great videos too, had I seen what care goes into the preparation of the each car before I bought mine, I would certainly have come to see your stock, and I’m not a dealer type of buyer... The future owner of that OJ 996 is going to be very lucky.

Dave Moore you should buy it if you like it, enjoy it...don’t get into a car like this just for the money.

I had a laugh about the exhaust clamps. Whenever I see my 996 from the back I hate seeing those clamps :) I need to adjust them some day. Oh and I just found out that I have those rare hollow spoke wheels (option number 408) on my 996. Never knew that!

Love the wheels on the Ocean Jade car; I believe that they're the same wheels as fitted to the 993 Turbo, as the 996 Turbos wheels wouldn't fit on a narrowbody 996...

Really enjoying your videos. I like the fact that you spend time showing the underside of the cars in so much detail. That ocean jade car is fantastic. It’s gona hurt when that one leaves. Not sure if I could let it go myself. You deserve success in your business, you put the effort in. All the best

Not a fan of the ocean jade colour at all, probably my least favorite choice, but hey that's why they have different colours. I am loving the look of the early 996's, and really digging your videos, so please keep them coming, it inspires to get mine out of the shed.

Great videos, keep them coming! They are really helpful in pointing out the week spots that need care on these 996s! You usually replace the coffin arms on your cars (as the bushings tend to wear with the years), but I’ve heard that these parts are pretty expensive from Porsche, what brand are you using?

I love the Ocean Jade Metallic 996, not so much the colour but the fact that it is a 1998, a manual, non-sunroof & rear wiper delete. As you said in the vid, it allows such clean lines from that beautiful 996 rear quarter view! I personally hate sunroofs on coupes - they ruin the roof line, create another potential leak point (the drains always get clogged) & reduce the stiffness. If I want a big hole in my roof, I'd buy a Cabriolet! I had to laugh when the car was up on the hoist and you said how clean the underside was - when there was surface rust everywhere. I'm not having a go, I know that it is par for the course for UK & north European cars because you salt the roads in winter, but here in Australia we just don't get that kind of corrosion at all. But you guys in the Northern Hemisphere win because our UV down under is so harsh, it destroys rubber & vinyl trim around doors, windows and the complete interior. Anyway, great video, I love your attention to detail, the fact you show the maintenance that needs doing and Porscha Care fixing it and your detailing of the paint work. Obviously, a good marketing cross pollination for Porscha Care but well deserved - a mechanic whose pedantic attention to detail wants to re-orientate an exhaust clamp to the correct position, is my kind of mechanic and would definitely get my business!
@friendsgreenporsche52344 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback Mark, it's much appreciated. The underneath of that car is very high on the "clean spectrum" for a 996 in England - As you say, there are two sides to a coin; we don't suffer from rubbers and interiors perishing! We have a very good working relationship with Porscha Care and so are more than happy to give them any exposure these videos bring, which to be honest, is more views and comments than I'd anticipated when I started making them a few weeks ago!

Great video 👍🏼, i have a 2001 996 with 60K miles with a tiptronic automatic gear which has a gear gasket leak. A couple of mechanics recommends not to change the gear oil because it has never been changed before therefore might damage the gear if i did. Whats your thoughts ?
@friendsgreenporsche52344 жыл бұрын
Abdul Adel gearbox oil is a serviceable item. Get that oil changed and nice new gasket on the sump to stop the leak!

great vids, I own a 2001 manual no sunroof seal grey 996, options include M030, aero kit less rear wing, full leather and turbo front bumper, but alas its has a rear wiper. it looks very similar to a 40 year anniversary model. has only covered 30k, IMS clutch condensers coffin arms all done …. just wondering what sort of value you would put on it? I know its hard without seeing it cheers

Cool car. I think I have something comparably rare. I have a '98 996 with same hollow spoke turbo twist wheels and I also have the factory LSD fitted. Manual car, black on black, but with sun roof and rear wiper. Mine's a South African market car (C26) and I'm struggling to get much info on it's early life as Porsche UK can't provided anything. Any ideas how I'd find out first owner details? Porsche South Africa is a subsidiary of Porsche Middle East, which is ran out of Dubai. I've not found anyone there able to help.
@friendsgreenporsche52344 жыл бұрын
Hi William, i've never dealt with any main dealers outside of the UK so I wouldn't know what to suggest. All I could advise is to keep pestering Porsche UK. Sometimes you stumble across someone there who is more helpful than others. Good luck!

Thanks for a great presentation, even with the older well kept cars, what sort of problems do you see with deteriorating rubber components? Hard to get these types of spares in Australia 🦘👍
@friendsgreenporsche52344 жыл бұрын
Chris Shands the rubbers are generally good. I guess they see less sun over here than they do in sunny Aus! The rear screen rubber surround often shrinks and peels up in the corner but they’re readily available from Porsche for around £50.
