I have owned a 997 turbo for past 7 years. The fuel tank is a 'saddle' design going over the front prop shaft, which is why you have to fill more than half a tank to register on the fuel gauge- the petrol fills on the offside and literally has to spill over to the nearside section of the tank to lift the fuel sender. Also please press the handbrake button as you pull the lever up to prevent excess wear on the ratchet mechanism. Great video as always, I love anything Porsche

Have a 2002 Turbo with X50 performance pack. Performance always surprises me when I get back into it from my daily driver. However, you can just cruise around in comfort off boost if you feel like it and its as docile as anything. Definitely a keeper.

Just been watching a few of your prep videos have to say think you should give yourself a pat on the back very informative and I have to say love your approach to the vehicles you get with regards doing what needs to be done and more if required bang on. I have been in the first Boxster S since late 2001 bought off a mate top spec and I'm thinking of dipping my toe into a 996 4s wouldn't hesitate to look you up. So if you get one Silver or Red with black or dark grey leather would love one with x51 kit on or maybe 40th Anniversary bear me in mind. Regards Gary

That’s the carrera aero kit on the 2001 C4. Different to the “taco” GT3 rear spoiler (I have a 2001 C4 with the same)

It was probably a naturally aspirated model. Yes the Turbo's exhaust is the standard Porsche exhaust.

Love your channel Great content Thinking of 996 C4S vs 996 turbo I’m in Canada and there are nice C4S available for 50-60k but turbos are 90 - 100k. Can’t decide if turbo worth almost double the C4S. The fun you had in turbo has me leaning that direction but can’t deny the value and rear end aesthetics of C4S. Thoughts???

I found my dream 996 turbo X50 in guards red for $50,000 but it had TWO odometer discrepancies/alerts. It showed 97,000 miles on the odometer but it looked to have more mileage on the chassis overall. Weird. I passed. I though the engine might have been swapped or rebuilt after a blown engine or something. Should I have bought it anyway? Kelly Blue Book put it at $39,000 max retail and $30,000 private party.

I was once a passenger in a 996 turbo (albeit a tiptronic), and my god was it quick. And a workmate's dad has owned both a 996 and 997 turbo, and my mate preferred the power delievery of the 996. @FGP: do you prefer the 996 turbo or R35 GTR to drive?

Believe it or not, you can repair the air vents ... as long as the back bone is still in there they can be put back to factory 99% of the time, so don’t throw any away

I believe it! we repair them all the time, however, these particular vents had the lugs broken and required replacement.

Never had this problem with the fuel gauge on my 14000mile 996 turbo when I had it at 4 yrs old.

It did, you just obviously never ran it empty then only put what at the was less than about a tenner worth of petrol in. you’re just too rich to have noticed 😂

The chrome caps are the headlight washer caps.

Top tip. Do not operate them at high speed as they fly off and are about £60 each 👍🏻

Everything on a 996 turbo is the same as a 4S minus interior spec and turbo.

The engine is different and many other things......

Whole engine, rear wings (air intakes), engine lid and spoiler, front splitter, alloy wheels (hollow spokes on turbo) are all different for starters. Easier to see the Carrera 4S as a standard Carrera 4 but with the turbo body styling (wider rear wings), turbo brakes & suspension, turbo 'style' alloy wheels (solid spoke) and the unique engine lid with full length reflector.
