Just got my my pair today to replace a broken ATH M40x. Right away I can tell you the K361 sounds very natural and crystal clear. Moreso than the M40x. The bass isn't as present in the 361 (still good) but the stereo separation is perceptibly better. They isolate better than the M40x with slightly better clamping force on the earpads. Tones are clearly separated with the 361 and I would definitely trust it for mixing. Despite being 32ohms to the 40x's 35, the 361 seem to need more sound to drive it. If you're used to the M40x, these are a good upgrade.

Great Vid Randy! We're always on the lookout for affordable closed backs. From your description, these seem to be a lot like the Shure SRH440s. From the vid the build seems similar, 3.5mm stereo connector, protein leather pads, but the Shures have a thick padded headband and very little clamping force to me. The 440s seem to be a "neutral" headphone but actually skew just a tiny bit to the sweet side. Nice detail from them but they are never harsh. The soundstage is just ok to my ears from these. At last look they retail for $99, right where the AKGs are. I don't think a person would be disappointed with either one.

The K361 does NOT need an amp! Its impedance is 32 ohms with a sensitivity of 114db!! You might need a dac if the file format is not supported by your device. It has a frequency response of 15 Hz to 28,000 kHz. The K361 is tuned to the old AKG response and tuning NOT the Harman curve. I have the K371 which is a step-up in both build and sound quality. The K371 is tuned within 1db of the Harman curve. It has a much, much better frequency response of 5 Hz to 40,000 kHz. Absolutely love it.

What a difference a couple of months make, eh? I went on somewhat of a budget binge and picked up the HE R7DX at 79 dollars along with these AKGs and the Blon B60 during an open box sale. I really like the AKGs but when I A and B compared them with the R7Dx, through an ifi Zen Dac 2, the hifimans stole my heart. Using the bass boost with the R7Dx, it filled out the somewhat lighter bass and made them absolutely slay it. My daily drivers were the Airmotiv GR1s but the Hifimans are now my go to. I bought the R7Dx on your recommendation, so thank you for that.

i will buy these eventually and return here to do the link when i do. need to fix the van first ;-) (jan 2022) so i bought the bluetooth version. first impressions vs. my akg k240 wired... more bass but still very linear. more revealing treble. when i use them wired with my tube headphone amp, the noise floor is now obvious which it wasn't with the k240s. overall the 361s are linear but with a lot more bass that goes deeper and more revealing overall. the k240s still pull ahead on tone/texture and more air but in fairness they are semi-open back. the build quality is good on the 261s. i like the padding. the clamp is a little tight but i'm sue it will loosen up with time. the soft touch volume is nice. the bluetooth has great connectivity. no breakup anywhere in my apartment. sadly, it's only sbc not aptx. overall, i'm very happy with the purchase.

Top form with this one! The real sith audio message was all in the eyes 😂... And the Walken I'd say the one issue I've had with the k361 is the earpads with my bigger ear... yes single...the right one... (the left one is normal, so this could bother anyone with two big ears too or ear that stick out). The earpads feel soft and comfy at the start, but with long use the flatten a bit during the session. Enough to start putting pressure on the top of my ear. I've replaced the pads with Yaxi stpad2 as they are firmer and retain Most of the sound signature (maybe a tiny bit less bass) but no more comfort problem.

I second the comparison with the M50Xs. I have both, and the AKG is more comfortable ergonomically and sonically. The M50Xs make my head and my ears fatigued in relatively short order, and the K361s don't do either. They don't quite reach "can wear indefinitely without discomfort" status for me like the Meze 99s, but they're a heck of a lot closer to that than the M50Xs are.

@cheapaudioman3 жыл бұрын
I’d you like the way they sound then you’re all good. I’ve always noticed an appreciable difference when using an external DAC. Most headphones don’t have dacs optimized for music. If you have the iPhone the lightening to 3.5mm adapter is actually a pretty good DAC for $10
@craigwingsnation4893 жыл бұрын
I bought a $200 Schitt stack with my Sundaras, and its a night a day difference compared to directly into my android. My fiance used the dac/dongle INCLUDED with her I phone to run the sundaras, not as good... but I definitely questioned my purchase. The boost you get from the apple dac/dangle compared to a straight 3.5mm for $10 is the easiest recommendation in audio. Update - went back to the dongle because of this post after almost a year with the schiit stack. Its boring, drowned out, no separation. Really not even in the same league, as expected. However, i do remember being blown away from 3.5mm to a dongle which is only $10. There may be plenty of middle ground between the two i know nothing about.

Don't forget they do a bluetooth version what goes for £99 they do a closed back version of £75 A better headphone is the k701 but you probably need an amp if using off mobile device? being 62 ohns frequency response is 10Hz to 40 kHz they have double vocal coils flatwire they should reproduce the base you were talking about £120. Another good similar to that model you have shown is the K 371 is a better headphone and only £101 being Titanium coated drivers 5Hz to 40 kHz drives not 10Hz-40kHz as the361, get deeper into the base with control better than the k361 and may be cheaper over there as well yeah they definitely make some good headphones and reasonably priced see if you can get the k701 or the k702

How did the K361 compare to the DT 770 Pro 80 ohm and the K182?
@VeitLehmann3 ай бұрын
@@Kuolitee The K-182 was really disappointing. Really dull, wonky sound. The K-361 was very nice, I can understand why people like it. But it felt a bit cheap, and in comparison to the Beyerdynamic, I missed a bit of authority in its sound. The DT 770 Pro had more slam in the bass and more sparkle in the treble without sounding too hot or too V-shaped. It sounds more wide and open as well, pretty close to my DT 880 Edition. For me, it even sounded better than the DT 700 Pro X and the DT 770 Pro X LE. One thing that the K-361 did better for me than the DT 770 Pro is the timbre of the mids, which seemed to be a bit more consistent across different genres. Also, the K-361 is easier to drive and gets louder on weak outputs. Both are great, you should test them both to see which one fits your ears best. @@jeffjefferson7384 I did, but only the 80Ohm version. I'm not sure if it was just the demo model they had there or if it was the amp or something else, but I found it to sound pretty harsh compared to the DT990 Pro 250Ohm. I might revisit them though since I have friends who write Hollywood scores and use DT770s without any issues. For the DT990 Pro you'd definitely want at least the 80Ohm version, the 32Ohm version just sounded less detailed to my ears. I'm guessing that the same goes for the DT770. If you have a good headphone amp that can drive these, go for the 250Ohm version. That said, sound is very subjective. I know Randy liked the Elac B5.2 for example but I couldn't stand them. I know reviewers who think the DT990s are piercing and sibilant whilst they sound absolutely amazing to me. Try it for yourself and form your own opinion, reviews are just some very broad guidelines imho.

No. The 271 has an awkward frequency response and is extreme hard to drive

@@RC-qc2nz Hard to drive, I'm using 4 out 100 volume from the soundblaster AE-5 soundcard. Plenty enough. MK2 is still sold and that actually is a far worse product. I also have 371 and its distorsion level are much higher 271, I doubt the 361 can compete. I've only kept the 371 because it's great for VR because of its sensitivity, it does however not sound as great. 271 is also measured as an extremely transparent product by the Swedish LTS organization, who only accept stuff that measure very well.
