You need to get on Race Department (Overtake) and download the season mods. All Liveries, Driver Names, and even Custom AI files - makes a huge difference to immersion

AMS2 is possibly the most fun sim game I own, being able to easily jump into a race in any era of car I want is just great, I just wish it was the multiplayer was more popular.

Didnt see you use it but just so you know, AMS2 also simulates the electronic aids the williams and some other cars had. Load up the Formula HiTec 1 (1992) and 2 (1993) cars and youll see that you have Launch control avaliable as well as "DRS" which in these cars, raises the front nose of the car with the suspension in order to stall the rear wing and give more speed. You can also use it anywhere on the track (no DRS zones) . Love AMS2

The hitech cars are also the first from a first party developer to simulate active suspension. Launch control is also used in V10g2 cars, which simulates the 2000 F1 season, but with the electronic aids of 2001-2003. AMS2 has the potential to be the biggest F1 simulator. I can potentially see future DLCs add more F1 cars and tracks. I can think of a number of tracks and F1 seasons Reiza can make down the line. Quite strange actually when considering handling. Some of the professional f1 drivers are avid sim racers on various games and a lot of them critisise how hard the traction control is in the official game. For instance, traction fully off is nothing like driving the real thing. They collectively say the traction is easier to control in the real car than the game itself. Makes you wonder how these devs come up with the data

AMS2 with all the DLCs (on sale) is closer to the 70€ mark of F1 24, yet it gives you so much more content for that price, it's amazing. The only real negative about the game, is that you cannot save mid-session.

I'm really on the fence to get it cause I'm tired of ACC and LFM races cause they're a mess... my Safety Rating fell all the way down to the bottom via a ton of people crashing on me, races are not fun cause you either let everyone pass or you lose SR cause the game doesn't have a penalty system and the one time you make a mistake you instantly get reported by professional reporters that literally spend their whole day to report people (it takes literally hours to report people) and the punishment is brutal... you lose 1 SR point per report while you gain 0.5 SR if you have a race with zero collisions and absolutely zero incidents of touching out of bounds for the whole race... which almost never happens anyway... So ACC is really not fun anymore... I'd rather race against a good and proper AI than against real people that divebomb me from 3 car lengths behind and take me out unless I let them pass without a fight... and I'm really REALLY tired of LFM and it's bullcrap... cause according to it I'm one of the worst most unsafe drivers in the world while all I'm doing wrong is not letting everyone pass and just you know... trying to race and play defense which ends up with being crashed on and every crash on this pathetic system is "everyone's fault" somehow... Anyway, maybe AMS2 is the answer, I don't know...

@@DerpSherman I just downloaded it and I will give it a go... I even bought the full package of the season pass plus DLC cause owning it is a plus for me anyway... I'm gonna give it a go and if it's fun then I'm playing against the AI for the foreseeable future... racing against other people sounds fun in theory but it's absolute torture in reality... it's not fun, for every good race you end up in 20 horrible ones and overall real humans make the whole thing just a giant waste of time... We'll see... I'm at least actually excited to have a ton of different car classes...

Also for anyone who's sitting on the fence you can get a UI driven driver editor where you can tweak a ton of their driving attributes and name them how you wish ( I personally race against AI family, friends, KZbinrs, RL drivers and Mario lol). Also you can create your own championships with their own rule sets which I use to put my fav tracks together.

Great video and indeed after playing this you never go back to f1 game. Did you know on overtake (formaly racedepartment) there are liverypacks with real driver names including their stats free to download for every F1 class. Maybe you can make a video where you show them?

This is one of the best handling cars in the game. So much fun to toss around, great grip but demands respect as it's got 370HP under the hood on a RW platform. It says all there is to say about Fred's work. The man's skills are truly masterful. Love each and every one of his mods - especially the front wheel drive ones that he released recently. Would love to see more FW cars being released in the future.

Wait until January and get Assetto Corsa Evo that is coming out then on all platforms... it's gonna have a shitload of cars and a ton of content with brilliant physics... no idea if it's gonna have lots of F1 cars but the game is certainly gonna be a gem for driving... plus an absolutely MASSIVE open world map around Nurburgring to drive your cars even in proper traffic

The only thing missing imo is mid 00s F1 cars and maybe one for the early 14-16 turbo hybrid era, but they more than make up for it with classic CART and the endurance content for the price 👍

Automobilista is a fun game. It shows up in Humble Bundle's once in a while with other racing games and you can pick them all up for way less than F1 24 costs. I was introduced to the game through a Humble Bundle. I really enjoy playing around in the game even though I suck at it and constantly crash. It lets me race at VIR without paying a membership fee or needing to own any of the awesome cars in real life that are in the game. It's worth it just for that. 😁

There's a big important update coming soon for AMS2, the 1.6 update, which is going to make it even better. It's also prob the best game for VR. I agree with you that EA/Codemasters should introduce two modes to their game. The arcade mode, which is what they currently have, and a sim mode for players who want better/more challenging handling and force feedback. But they won't bother while people keep buying the arcade game year after year after year. It's a cash cow so they prob feel they don't need to.

Unfortunately, the GTP cars in AMS2 are way too easy to drive. After spending many hours in Le Mans Ultimate, I rarely find myself wanting to drive any of the GTP cars in AMS2. They just feel like 1/5 as real. Too easy to corner, to control, to accelerate. The only thing that is harder to do in a GTP in AMS2 is brake. Also, AMS2 does not have the hybrid system in full swing. Doesn't mean its a bad game at all, but it just feels very un-motivating to drive the less realistic variant of a car.

AMS 2 is sooo good for F1 xD I`m doing the default ingame 1991 season and its stupidly fun especially with custom livery and AI mod. Not perfect tho, you cant force tire change so AI will only do soft tires but i find that a minor issue, the AI is generally really good and fair. For alternatives to F1 - GT1 and Group C are especially good and if you wanna go goofy karts or trucks are there lol

Interesting. It might be because of the difficulty setting you are on and the length of race. I've seen the ai use mediums, and hards. Most will usually stick to soft though. Depending on the conditions and scenario.

Unfortunately alot of us play the F1 games not for the actual feel of the cars but the immersion of its single and coop career mode. Yhere are plenty of better sims out there but these sims fail to add game to their titles, these sim titles need to add game to them interacting with teams drivers and progession. Good racers have game to them good sims only have longevity if they add more single player elements unless the player is into competitive online races.

But I'd argue AMS 2 is the closest you can get to a F1 sim experience that has a career mode feel where you can start with backmarker teams and work your way up to mid level teams and then top level teams. I'd argue AMS 2 is better at this with vintage classic F1 than the actual F1 games. Since the actual FW games do not have a proper career or season mode for classic cars, no upgrades, and usually no more than 1 or 2 cars from the same year. Ams 2 also has the period correct tracks. And unlike Assetto cords, they are high quality, and have arguably the best weather and track surface progression in sim racing. Also unlike AC, the AI in ams 2 actually have pit strategy and can do full length races. In AC the AI usually just drives until they run out of fuel, and don't care about tires, and even with a rain mod, most F1 mods don't have rain tires. AMS 2 is the best all around to simulate 1970s to 2000 F1, you get full length races with pit stops and a proper weather system.

In this video the poster didn't really do ams 2 justice, he doesn't have all the F1 cars which are in a DLC. Also he doesn't have the liveries/skin pack which come with custom AI for each driver/livery. So senna performs and drives like senna, and prosts drives like prost etc. The actual F1 car list for AMS 2 is: 1969/1970: Brabham V8 Lotus V8 BRM/Honda V12 Generic V8 1975: Brabham V8 Lotus V8 McLaren V8 Shadow Mattra V12 Shadow Mattra Ford V8 (a mid/backmarker teams who actually used different engines through season.) 1979: Brabham V12 fan car Brabham V8( they switched after the fan car was banned early on). As you can see. They have plenty of backmarker and mid tier teams cars racing against the top teams of the same year. So you can roleplay your own career mode of "climbing the ladder". I usually start out in the 70s with shadow, then work my way up to lotus, McLaren or Brabham (who all get better or worse as the years go on, accurate to real life. So you might switch to McLaren in 1975, but by 1984 McLaren is falling behind without a turbo engine, so you switch to lotus, who then falls behind in 1990 etc. etc.). These are things you can't do in the F1 games. So AMS 2 is the closest we got to a classic F1 career mode, with 3-5 cars for each year, and most the historical tracks. Also unlike other Sims, AMS 2 has good AI for full length races with pit stops and weather changes,and weather is one of the best in AMS 2 as well. You can also simulate some f1 drivers careers who switched to Indycar for a period back to F1. AMS 2 has the 90s indycars, back when Indy had multiple different chassis & engine suppliers. Each Indy year in AMS 2 has around 5 different engines manufactures and 3 different chassis makers. It was not a spec series in the 90s. So there's plenty of variety of 90s indycars to choose from.

Although I do agree that the additional classic content is good, I don't believe the modern F1 game consumer actually care about it at all, hence the reason it's not in the official game. Personally I do like the content of the current F1 games although I believe that there should be a DLC per year of each rule set rather than a "new" game each year

I agree. If you have the funds ($35), give Le Mans Ultimate a try. For me, It ruined ACC, iRacing, and AMS2. Every other sim feels easy compared to Le Mans Ultimate. I don't think I'm gonna become a better driver by using easier sims. I was really sad especially about AMS2. I loved the game so much and played it 10x as much as ACC or iRacing. That is, until LMU came out and I never touched any of them ever again. RIP to my 12 months iRacing sub I paid for...

They only have very few though, especially in terms of cars in the same year. Also not all mods come with wet tires, and do rain races in AC and getting the AI to do full length races with a pit strategy is difficult. Also the AC historical tracks are absolutely no where near as good quality as ams 2. Which only few exceptions. AMS 2 has 3, 4 up to 5 different teams cars for each year of F1. Including the top teams & mid tier to back marker teams. The AI can do full length races with believable out strategy, and the historical tracks are better quality, and the weather system and track progression system is just better. AC wins in terms of sprint races and single cars. But if you want to simulate a classic F1 season, with multiple teams cars of the same year, with full length races, with accurate weather. It is hard to beat AMS 2. Yes, AMS2 has it flaws, but the positives can easily make up for the cons.
