This is just about the most elegant house with the most substance both for the current occupants and for future generations - presented by Local Project. .It is clear to me that the architect belongs to the same concept design group as the legendary John Lautner of California, most of whose works are landmarks.. people think it is easy to build a structure out of concrete..... The placement of gardens on the roof which in time will serve to hide the or blend the home's existence with the landscape is brilliant. Agreed. Lovely, but details would be iffy. Sound, too. While travel through concrete walls is surely limited, overall attenuation seems difficult in a concrete structure. Yes! My dream home... I've envisioned something like this for a long while, taking into consideration the landscape, sustainability, off-grid living and disaster-proofing. Its all there. One thing I'd change though, I'd use a natural pool instead. Otherwise, its perfect!

This is unreal, it looks so beautiful. All I kept doing was imagining myself living there

Coming to some practical questions, How do you deal with Mosquitoes and snakes? I imagine the bug infestation especially during rains to be insane. The windows mostly would always be locked. Also, I've always wondered how to do they keep these types of houses safe from thieves? It seems relatively easy to break and enter.

I imagine they will only open the house up like that when entertaining guests or only open up the doors of rooms their specifically using that day so easy to watch for snakes and bugs

They should have a pond with fish to eat the mossies. Mossies only come in the evening and night. Ants!!...they are my bugbear.

I don't doubt a peacock could kill a snake or a cat, but to be eco-friendly a gumtree with a hollow or nesting box suitable to house a family of kookaburra would also work to keep snakes away. Mind you out of the hundreds of different species of snakes only about 10, if threatened are deadly to humans. So a snake sunbaking on your patio isn't necessarily a bad thing, it may keep unwanted guests away!

It's the same with how clean they always look - imagine living in this with a few kids that leave their toys around (instead of a stack of deliberately placed magazines nobody's ever read) and whatnot. Bam, all that "stark elegance" sabotaged by, uh, people being people. Half the time it feels these houses are build to be looked at instead of to be lived in ... though it is nice to look at, certainly.

The setting is the central feature. The house is the bonus.

yes, proof how even a cold BUNKER can become a great livingspace because of the landscape.

This home is spectacular. I live in Okinawa, Japan and most of our homes and buildings are concrete. There are many benefits to concrete over other materials. Some buildings here are nothing more than big boring blocks, and others are works of art, or designed in traditional ways but formed in concrete instead of less durable materials. You can make it boring, or exciting and restful like this home.
