Is This the Best Off-the-Shelf Knee Brace? | CTi3 Track Tested

Knee braces are a hot topic in motocross circles, but every staffer and test rider on the SML team protects their knees with a set of knee braces. It's hard to deny the side and twisting loads placed on your knees while riding a motocross bike, and we believe that a knee brace protects your joints from injury. Of course, no knee brace can prevent all injuries but if you could reduce the chances, why not?
The CTi knee brace was invented by Jim Castillo in the early 1980s when he was recovering from a torn ACL he suffered while skiing, and in the years since the CTi design has been further developed and perfected. The CTi3 Knee Brace is an off-the-shelf brace that incorporates all of the great features found in the custom CTI2 knee brace that must be prescribed by a physician and is available in sizes small through extra large in single sides, or in a special motocross edition that's sold as a pair that's equipped with full-coverage knee cups and includes a pair of under socks.
We've been riding in our CTi3s for several weeks now and must say that they rival the fit and comfort of the custom CTi2 braces that we've been wearing for years.

I tried to get custom cti braces, I had 12 yes 12 sets of braces made and none of them fit, it was one of the very worst and most frustrating customer experiences I have ever had and I wouldn't recommend even my worst enemy to get cti custom braces. I had to return all the braces and I give up on ever getting a set of ossur cti braces that actually fit. Ossur refused to do a 3d scan or cast of my leg even though I asked repeatedly and even spoke with the head of the custom bracing department at ossur corporate but all they would do is measure with a tap measure and take a photo and guess on the shape of my leg from the photo. I dealt with 2 different ossur dealers and also the northeast rep for ossur and all 3 refused to make a cast/mold or do a 3d scan of my leg. Every single brace they made was too small some of the first ones were soo small they looked like they were for a child and were not even close to fitting on my leg never mind the correct shape for my leg. The braces looked amazing and i wanted them bad but they were totally incompetent and not 1 set was even close to fitting even the rep for ossur couldn't understand why they didn't fit but could obviously see they were the wrong shape and size like they were for somebody else yet my name was molded in the back on the brace. They even admitted several times remaking the exact same size and shape of the brace by mistake. $2400 for custom braces and they refuse to make a mold/cast or 3d scan?? Really ossur/cti? Really? Maybe theses off the shelf ones are good but I will never give them another dime after that HORRIBLE customer service experience and waist of a lot of my time going to meet up with them over and over for the brace not to fit.

Same Don. I just don't feel connected to the bike without my braces on and I've had my share of knee injuries

Maybe - low profile like that but without the cheesy fake “ligament” that would break in a couple of months. Had to zip tie my old PODs together more than a few times.
