Excellent video on a very underrated watch. I have a white dial version that I wear on a brown leather strap. I really love its versatility as an every day watch - it goes great with a suit during the week or a button-down with jeans on the weekend. And unlike other Swiss brands at that price point (looking at you, Tissot), the 38mm case diameter means its friendly to the smaller-wristed folk.

Certina isn’t underrated at all, it’s very well known and loved Swiss brand with long history.

@@tongotongo3143 It depends where you are. Certina is relatively unknown here in the US, except among watch nerds. Hodinkee is the only AD, although Certina tends to be readily available on the gray market.

I got this one two days ago for the equivalent of 260 GBP here in Romania. So far, i love the design and the way it feels on my 6.5 inch wrist. I had to take out 2 full links and 2 small links to get a proper fit. I'm a bit concerned about the accuracy. It seems to go fast +10 seconds a day. However, it was mostly standing still during that time. But comparing it to my Tissot with the Powermatic 80, it just can't match that accuracy. However, it might stabilize in a week or so. Hopefully :) P.S.: the small links are not exactly half of one full link, they are larger. (1 full link is about 9mm, 1 small link is about 5.5mm)

At this point, I don't really understand why anyone would buy a Rolex, not accounting for the gold parts of it, if Certina is making an authorized clone!, it's a prestigious swiss brand with a long pedigree, made with high quality parts. I have the Certina chronograph anniversary edition, dude that thing is beautiful, it looks like a Rolex daytona, for a fraction of a fraction of the price!

I have just bought this watch for $272 USD. I think is a great value for that money. Certina is a great brand, I think their prices are a little higher than they could be, but if we find special discounts is definitly a good option.

I just ordered one of these in a silver dial/leather strap. $268 (with the tried-and-true ETA 2836-2). NO powermatics for me as I like to self-regulate. Edit: Just received it. Looks even better in-person.

I’m a big fan or certina also mido. They’re both incredibly great watches for the price point. I’ve been in the market to buy a Swiss watch with a budget of $1,500 ish max. I’ve been doing research for the last year or so to find the right one for me .. I’m looking at mido, certina , Hamilton , longines .. it probably will take me another year of research until I find the one to purchase maybe by then I’ll go omega. I don’t know so many brands so many dials ! 🤷‍♂️ Thanks for the content. ✌️+❤️

You are not alone. The DS Action Day-Date In Blue which is similar to the DS-4 - looks like omega. Problem is I have a Seiko 5 sports automatic which I got for £160 about 5 years ago. Seiko is like Elvis - he 'did it all' years before any of the others. If you want a fab dress seiko - see the SUR525P1 - so affordable it should be banned. Spend what you save on women, cars and booze. Have a nice day.

Sorry, mate, I really wish I could. In my infinite wisdom, I actually didn’t measure this up at the time I had it in… I’m not making those mistakes now, but I think because it fit so well on my just over 6-inch wrist, the significance of the lug to lug slipped my mind. Again, apologies 👏

So the DS stands for "Double Security", Certina's crown security system (essentially shock and water resistance). As far as I can tell, the numbers are just the different model lines. For example, there's the DS Super PH500M, which seems to have no numbered denomination at all. Hope that helps!

@@LumePipi ended up buying the small seconds in two tone version and the font on my clasp is the proper one you expected on yours. my father has your day date but in white and it's got the same comic sans font on the clasp, meaning it was definitely on purpose lol but that font is from an older version of their logo

yeah I got one - in silver face and leather... deployment clasp (wow). This video helped me "get excited" abt the model some months ago.. then I forgot that it was actually black in the video :) but that's fine, I wanted t o have one with a silver face. On mine, the seconds hand is black. Strangely it doesn't look VERY much like a rolex to me but I think the leather removes the likeness. It has a pretty long band I think.. using "the last-nearest" hole. -- The logo on my deployment's clasp is different and better (same as the face)-- could it be they fixed it??? i.e. it's different than this leather here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWTan52MrMepmJI
