I've had a 1990 ls400 since 2012..... I lost my radio because the cup holder was too small and smashed on the brakes and watched a drink slide into the radio. I drove around everywhere with the traction control turned off and extra power on, all three sun visors down, and I would be doing the one wheel peel every turn.

Ls400's are the master race! The 90's lexus line-up is amazing! Also the 1uz-fe was built for a gt race series. With MLS head gaskets and arp head studs, you now have a motor that can live at 780hp happily. So I would have to disagree with your not so tuner friendly comment.

Owned a 1992 LS400 for years, and it was a fantastic car. Super clean, smooth, and unbelievably reliable (I owned it from the time I was 19-22, and let me tell you about neglecting maintenance and it still just rolling along seamlessly...). After a great time with the LS400, I replaced it with the only car I found that I could enjoy even more... and after several years of owning a 2005 LS430, I can tell you that no other sedan (JDM, German, etc.) compares in terms of interior quality, vault-like serenity, and that bulletproof Toyota reliability. I'm the second owner of a 95 LS 400 with 210,000 miles. Bought it in 2019 with 196,000, and a damaged front bumper for $700. It was Ebony Teal Pearl with dark gray Metallic tu tone when purchased. After new bumper replacement I decided to paint it the solid Ebony Teal Pearl without the dark gray. I have done several preventive maintenance projects such as starter, water pump, timing belt kit, oil cover gaskets, fuel pump, alternator, front and rear struts, full tune-up including both coils and distributors, cooling systems, transmission tune-up. Added 18in Motegi gold and chrome wheels, trunk deck spoiler and front bumper lip. This car is amazing and I have no plans to sell it, even though I have had offers up to $7,000. ive got a 94 ls, so i can really only speak on the 89-94. there are some cons obviously the first gens are all almost 30 years old, alot of the bushings and mounts may be worn, for the most part they are hard to get, as well as expensive, as are most parts for the first gens. be ready to do a timing belt and water pump, 89-94 is non-interference, but 95 and up are interference. the water pump is timing belt driven. there is a bracket that the fan clutch rides on, replace it while you are in doing the water pump. the bearing on that bracket failed on mine and i had to run the car with no radiator fan for a few months. they are overengineered in the cooling department so it isnt super risky to do that. id also say unplug the little condensor pressure switch down on the bottom driver side of the condensor, makes those fans run if the ignition is on. other than that, mine has 217000 miles and runs perfect. they do sound really good honestly, similar sound to a 5.4 triton but if you get some nice mufflers they sound great. if you do run straight pipes id say get a resonator, they drone super bad. be ready for some pretty bad gas mileage as well, mine has 19's on it and i get 10mpg edit: all the positives he said in the video do apply though, its an incredibly well built and designed car

Note... Acura Legends - had adjustable rear seats before Lexus... I respect the LS400 & Q45 of the era... But the Legend did it all with more features fwd & 2 less cylinders for 45k in the 90s... I going to get 1 of all 3 cars... Live in Wis with friends in Texas...

My 94 LS400 has 325,000 miles on it. I've put 150,000 of those miles on it. I wouldn't take less than $10,000 for it. There's no replacing it.

You know, I love this car. It's got potential....Yet, the wheels KILL the WHOLE look!!!!! The LS400 NEEDS a Rich, Classy, Important and Enhanced wheel that moves you to say, "WOW! THAT IS BADA--"!!! I mean, when I look at it now, I feel sorry for it and wonder, what was that Owner thinking when he slapped that beautiful car SILLY, with those off-centered, wacky looking, un-classy, and Hick-styled, Red-necked wheels. Why??!!! Go back to the drawing board bro!!!

yano i love anovia wheels, but the titans really don't work on an LS400.

I own a Lexus 2010 ES 350 with a V6, and I hear it's a good motor, but I was curious if this motor has a forged crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons because I want to make it faster, but I can't find any place that's sells racing stuff for this vehicle, so I am contemplating buying a 2010 GS 350, but I don't want to throw my money away because I put some money into my Lexus. I will appreciate any help. I agree with you a strong short block is hard to find for a good deal.

for the cost. i'd get a mitsubishi diamante. comparable interior, less powerful. but also bullet proof 6g74 engine. more or less the same engine used in the pajero for Dakar. there's a great example for sale right now in texas, a 1999 for $8k with only 66k miles. but the lexus is definitely nice.

When I was looking to buy a car back in March, I was down to The Toyota Celsior (the LS400, but RHD) and the Nissan Gloria GT. Now, I went with the more unique Gloria, and am absolutely happy with it, but, I gotta say, I kinda wish I went with the Celsior. It's just a nice, comfortable, fun car. Still get more attention with the Gloria tho. 🤷♀️

parts availability for the Gloria, none existent in the US. 😅 When I've had to order from Japan, it takes up to a month and a half. And they are a bit more expensive.
