Tbh if you want to be remotely competitive on an aggressive lightweight they're the only choice. Sad state but its true. My vientos setup are restricted to S rank ladder climbing only. I play with ducketts in pubs lol. I think a range and initial impact nerf would reign in vientos without effecting how they 'feel'. But any viento nerf MUST come in tandem with either making AB cost scale with weight, OR making stagger duration scale with weight, or some other change to balance out the weight classes. Otherwise aggro lightweights will just be even more dead in the water. Unrelated, but it would also be nice for the bigger lasers to have defender side netcode and faster heat buildup/worse cooling and for stun guns to do % damage instead of flat. Im hoping they tone back all the BS people are playing next patch.

I'm of the opinion that buffing every other pistol is the better call than nerfing the vientos tbh. The combination of fire rate and effective range of all of the other pistols are a joke compared to the vientos like, why would I use anything else when the vientos are overall better in every single way?

Yeah, I think this game does take a little bit of skill, some builds more than others. I think the difference between the best player of all time and an average player can easily be bridged with a little bit of latency or the RPS nature of the game. It's still tons of fun though if you can like, not take it so seriously.

Me, a lightweight using a scudder, curtis, a laser orbit and a regular missile launcher: :'D I cannot stress the amount of times someone using the handheld needle guns or the shoulder mounted ones and I'm effectively dodging every hit but all it takes for just one bad moment in the netcode for them to unleash hell and give me the instakill stagger build 9000.

Eh, as much as I'm not a fan of over-tuned weapons, with the game as it is dual Viento is simply the strongest option for LW mechs to even stand a chance haha. Being LW penalizes you on all defensive categories so heavily, and the benefits of speed do not make up for it. I would even consider it more "fair" than a Lamm missile boat that aims to win by hoping your mech does not have the speed to catch and hit it lol, as at the very least the player using a LW Viento build is forced to bring their mech into melee range where they can be punished. While it takes much less skill to pilot than a pure melee build, it's still a rather high risk high reward play style. Personally I find it fun to use as well. Another thing to note is that in the current ranked "meta", the build does not have more losing match ups than not. Sure you're almost guaranteed to lose against heavy tanks, but you have good odds against medium bipeds and Lamm Tetras.

I find it unengaging. I made a double viento build before the procurer himself was a spec of dust in the community, I haven't touched that build of mine at all because it genuinely bores me in comparison to the nuance of double melee. Again, I just find it unengaging and not all too skillful because the gameplan is too simple and automated for my liking.

​@CodenameMood Haha true that. I'll be honest and say that one of the main reasons I'm sticking with it is because the mental load is lower. I tried using various builds and different weapon combos, but I simply do not have the brain powers to keep track of so many different variables. The dual Viento light play style is right at the sweet spot for my limited abilities, so its still extremely engaging for me. I'll probably never be S rank since anyone with a faster mind using the same build will outplay me, but eh maybe I can try to get good. Hilariously enough, it was your video that set me on the path to dual Vientos, way before the BVO style became main stream. I remember watching your melee tier list where you used dual vientos to help test and categorize each melee weapon into a comprehensive tier list. I still reference that tier list and use your concepts when thinking of melee weapons.

Things have changed quite a bit ever since that video, so it's grossly outdated. Currently A2 in ranked, streaming the climb every day. A lot of people will cope when I get S rank with the worst build type, a double melee LW.@@Kryto_Gaming

@@CodenameMood Great to hear! I'm rooting for you. Heh, if you do get S rank that'll just go to show that pure skill can make up for build disadvantage. It would be inspiring to see. I'm with you when it comes to criticizing the pure RPS nature of some aspects of the game though. My guess is that it's a side effect of the game being focused on the SP experiance first. If Fromsoft continues to balance the game, I hope they can cause more diversity of builds. Fromsoft took a long ass time, but they did gradually make Elden Ring pvp more balanced than it was.

@@SiphonRayzar it's not actually "bothering me" per say, but it's just a nuisance. also, by what metric are you categorizing it as firstly a singleplayer game? If you look at what most players do with their time (based on percentage) the singleplayer is really mostly just setup and the pvp is what drives most of the community (besides lore and stuff). the only people who play mostly or exclusively singleplayer are complete casual players, which I dont think is a plurality of the playerbase.

Damn, and here I was proud of using dual Vientios 😭guess I’ll use different weapons now. From a duel vientos user though, I’ll say that i feel like I have to get very close to the target and the target also has to be practically standing still for me to actually land at least most of my rounds, but usually it will not be enough to stagger and keep in mind, Vientos only have 5 round mags, so you can usually easily disengage. If you keep moving and keep dual vientos at a relatively not close distance then they can’t do shit, at least from my POV

Aren't you reading way too much into it? I don't get the mentality of putting down your opponents so that when you lose, you rage all the more, or trying to read the worst spin on it. I did see the clip at the end with Mood, and if it's a montage of awesome moments, the fact his match was in there could be read as a testament of Mood's skill. If beating Mood was nothing special, it isn't worth showing, but on the other hand if he's extremely skilled (which should be pretty self evident by now) then it's great that his match was featured. Mood was a few inches off from driving that PB right into Ramenrook and defeating him. As for who should be interviewed, it depends on the criteria. It wasn't an interview aimed at melee in general, but focused on ranked matches, tournaments specifically. So in that case it makes sense they interviewed the players they did.

@@CodenameMood Hm interesting, while I found the video entertaining and well produced, it is disingenuous if there are hidden politics at play concerning who exactly gets interviewed. They did use the claimed skill of the interview participants as back up for the legitimacy of their tips. It would be very interesting to see a guide/interview of that style done for a true melee build though. It's a shame the balance of the game disadvantages double melee styles. Do you have any proposed balance changes that might work? For example, I don't like how unless the enemy is in ACS Overload, melee combos don't really combo. Only some charged attacks have hitstun. This means landing a melee hit on a tank just means leaving yourself open to double bazooka/LCB to the face lol.

When they say top 2 melee players they're talking about the players that do tournament, not everyone playing armored core 6. Playing in tournament mean playing against the most op build that exist, it's not really possible to stay at melee range, especially with light weight. I'm sure if Mood joined these tournaments and got better placement than these guys he would be called the best melee player

To be fair, I feel like it was abundantly clear that the video was about the top players of specific tournaments, and a further subset of using that specific build. When it comes to competitive play, it's on the game and the devs to balance it, and on the players to go for the win. As long as there isn't any abuse of exploits, it's expected for the players to leverage every advantage. If that means dual Zimmers, dual Vientos, Lamm rats, then so beat it. There are rules limited tournaments or more fun modes of play out there to enjoy haha.
