I got the HG as I mentioned in your previous video about this reel. I spooled it up with 15lb Tatsu. It handles everything I have thrown with it. From weightless flukes/senko, to 1/2oz squarebills. Plenty of line capacity to bomb them out there.

Totally love this reel ! Was going to get slx mgl but switched to liking the curado 70 before i seen this video. Now most definitely getting the 7:8 right hand Engetsu. I bought one of these for $110 new, it was hard enough finding them under $200 used, but i got incredibly lucky and bought the second i saw the price. this reel is godly, its tolerances are tighter, its smoother and casts better than my curado 70, i outcasted my friends chronarch mgl we were both throwing a 1/4 jighead with gliss 24lb monotex line, 17lb flouro leader, same saint coix mojo inshore ml moderate tip, id take this over the curado dc for certain techniques as well

Shimano also has a cheaper version, Engetsu BB, which doesn't have the X-ship, or the external brake adjustment. You can find them on ebay. Engetsu is 炎月，(“Fire Moon" or "Hot Moon" I think, which is what the symbol on tension knob stands for) a saltwater series that has been around JDM for a while.

I believe the Engetsu BB is basically a JDM Casitas.

@@williambannister1127 casitas has plastic graphite frame but has much better braking system and a smaller handle, the grappler is carbon fiber frame, old school braking and big handle

Great video! very interesting reel. Really curious about the casting distance. Since it is designated as a Tai Rubber reel, where they just free spool and drop the lure down to the depths without any casting done. Interesting to see SVS braking in there. Hopefully we get a shootout video with the Curado 70? cheers!

There is a round metal jig made by shimano called "Engetsu" and this reel and the similarly named rod are designed to work together. It looked like a great option to me too when I was looking for a light jigging saltwater reel but I went for the Abu Garcia Revo LJ-3 instead because of the built in power knob.

I have the 7.8 ratio. It has the clicker but no lever or button to turn off. The 7.8 has the more classy red anodized trim like the Scorpion spool!! Love this reel - have it on a Poison Adrena that is also black and red - awesome looks and fishes too! The reel similar in color to the JDM Grappler (Tranx) black and silver.

Jimmy both companies are equal in my opinion. Shimano is my favorite because they make better spinning reels, but daiwa low profile and shimano low profile are equal.

Benjamin S Shimano is superior. Daiwas T wing is a joke and until they go back to a standard pawl they will always be second best. In my opinion Abu revo is better than Daiwa.

you put grease on gears not oil. Oil goes on the brake pipe if it needs it. Theres a video by Eason Munn showing how he takes the K apart and greases the gears, check it out.

kw just cast left handed and you don’t have to swap hands that way you don’t have to use a left handed reel, I am right handed and 90% of my cast are with the rod in my left hand, except when I am skipping

Man I would way rather have the stile ss way lighter better looking in my opinion! Plus you know that brake system is one of the best shimano has come out with, not knockin the SVS brakes but it's not any better in my opinion, plus core fit body an clicking drag come on what else could you ask for lol. I do have 2 stile ss an am blown away by them I do use them for salt and I find this reel is as smooth as my metanium mgl's witch is impressive in my book!!!!!

Why? It's so heavy for that platform. I think it looks cool as well but I see no difference in smoothness between the ss an a reel with micro gears so the only other thing would be svs or looks. Not knockin your opinion just trying to see we're your coming from. I enjoy your videos and I only own JDM shimano's

something about that red/black/chrome when you are holding it.. it is heavier its like the Bantam, since its so small you dont feel it as much. I do like that Stile SS though. would pick that 2nd lol

I also dig the color on Engetsu, but shallower spool might not work out. I don't like CI4+ body on Stile SS and only 4+1 bearing but weight saved, bigger spool might work better.

Banks Avram I’ve got a curado 200 and love it. But daiwa and shimano baitcasters are pretty equal qualitywise. I would go with the reel with the best warranty out of those 2.
