The fact that the case made a 4090 look like a regularly proportioned card was actually impressive. See alot of cards barely fitting in New or old cases these days.

I agree, if you have a front mount 360 or bigger rad and fans, you have to watch if your GPU won't touch either of these components. With the latest rads going up to 45mm this is even more an issue.

I still use 3.5 drives for my media server storage - I tend to lean to having my build be an all in one solution, not just for gaming etc. I do like the fact that Lian-Li is still including a good enough amount of support for 3.5/2.5 drives.

Yes exactly! Do all be all machines! If you're spending all that money for a gaming PC you might as well realize its other potential, because a gaming PC is just a good PC with RGB. I have a box of 10 spare 1tb hard drives that Ive been slowly adding in. I need every drive bay I can find. Also still use my disk readers and no case has disk reader bays anymore. Having it in a standalone case does not help my desks sex appeal.

I feel like the comment about nobody using 3.5 and 2.5 inch drives anymore is a little out of touch. Not everybody can do a new build every year or is working with an unlimited budget. A lot of cheap motherboards only come with one M.2 slot. And why throw old drives away if you have them and they still work? I still run two 2TB spinners in my system for storage in addition to my NVME.

And then I would tell them it had 2 computers in it. The Obsidian could hold an ATX and miniATX motherboard at the same time. So I had my gaming machine and my streaming machine in the same box. I would also use it to 2box in games like Star Wars The Old Republic and Lord of the Rings Online.

@@jcg702 The X670E Taichi is a stable board. No issues with it accepting the DDR5 6000 CL30 and running it on it's XEPO profile. The way it allocates it's PCIe lanes was also something I looked into carefully before buying it. The Artic Freezer II 420 is excellent. But know that if you're going to put one in an FD Torrent case, you will have to trim the bottom fan bracket with a Dremel to make it fit. You can find pics of this online. I also used a Thermalright Contact Frame with the 7950X, but that's to stop the thermal paste from getting into those stupid IHS notches. Overall, it works really well.

Usually I do not find myself typing a comment like this but this time I truly feel it is needed. This is something that I have noticed in your videos from time to time on products that I know a few things about, things that you either forgot to mention or did not notice to mention (maybe no research about the product prior to shooting a video) 1. The front pillar is removable making the case look open and like an aquarium 2. The MB tray is removable, not just slide it up. You can also slide it down to make room for 2 x 120 mm fans on the top. 3. It is not recommended but you can fit 4 x 120 mm lian li fans on the top and bottom of the case. They do fit. 4. Completely glossed over the fact that the front IO can be moved from the front to the side like the original EVO and that it has 2 USB 3 plugs that most MBOS do not have and you need a splitter to make them work on a regular MBO 5. Enthusiasts of Lian Li know the difference between the fan controller of the 3 fan pack and the galahad fan controller but it would have been usefull to show it. (this one is a nitpick) Sry for any spelling errors, ENG is not my main language

One of the most underrated features of the O11 series is the inclusion of the 3.5in hard drive cage which is hot swappable. So many new cases either omit it completely or just throw in a cage at the bottom of the chassis which is the least accessible part of the case. The 3.5in drives are wonderful for archive storage and the newer ones are virtually silent. If you don't want to rely on external storage systems which add to clutter and can be expensive (for NAS), or just need an extra layer of backup, the Lian Li implementation here is top of the list. There are many things to like about this case but for me this feature tops all.

And it has grommets to use outside water coolers. Like the ones they use for cooling fish aquariums, paired with a rad and pump, they give a lot of cooling. And cost only €139 and can cool till 4°C which is overkill I know. But on temps like 20°C they are very quiet and be enough for cooling most CPUs. Especially those with high hotspots :)

I really like the mesh panels instead of cutouts, magnetic filters are nice, being able do do the "right-hand" and "left-hand" side build is nice addition, and the redesigned gpu sag bracket finally looks like i would be able to even mount it... but personally i wouldn't trade my trusty old one for this. The IO panel on bottom is a dealbreaker for me - i have no space on the desk to put the case and this renders all 4 USB ports pretty much unusable for me.

This might be the coolest case I’ve ever seen. I was at a MC yesterday and saw it and was very close to walking out with it lol. Holding out till the next gen or when my EVGA 3080ti (hybrid) dies (hopefully never). But water looping in this would be so sick. What a gorgeous case. Thx Jay!

Phil I like this shutup and watch approach with no talk but just watch and build. Nice job.

I feel called out... I'm running 3 3.5" HDDs & a 5.5" optical drive on my Phanteks NV7 build. I designed external enclosures for the extra HDD & optical that are attached magnetically to the rear intake side.

I was waiting for this video. IMO, as much as other brands try and copy this incredible design, nobody stands a chance against the original. Lian Li is so awesome. Side question: If given the option, would you guys choose an IPS 4K 160hz display, or a 1440p 240hz OLED display?

Surprised Jay didn’t show that you can easily remove the front bar between the glass panels for the clear look now. Wish my normal Evo had that lol.

This video came out at the perfect time for me. I've just ordered all the parts for my new i7-13700K, ASUS TUF 4090 build to replace my old i9-9900KF/ROG Strix 2070S system, and of course my old case is too small for the GPU. Really hoping everything, including this case, arrives tomorrow!

Nice! Try the card in vertical mode too, I recommend it. Make sure the fans are running intake behind the card for better cooling if you do.

I still have a 3.5 spinning drive, a WD Black 12tb that I use as my main storage drive. I transfer whatever video I am working on to my 2tb WD Black nvme drive that is used just for video editing and where I install any games I play. My C (1tb WB Black nvme) drive is just an OS drive. Then I have an external 12tb WD Black drive that I use as backup.

You didn't go over the 3x420mm rad support or the removable front edge support pillar. That USB 2.0 extension cable is for HD audio if you invert the case.

13:07 I personally use 3.5" and 2.5" drives because you simply cannot get 16TB+ M.2 drives, and even if you could have 16TB+ M.2 drives then there would not be enough M.2 slots to get 64TB-128TB of storage. I have ~88TB of RaidZ2 pool with some nvme caches, cannot get that amount of storage out of M.2 drives without several 4xM.2 cards. My main system is actually custom Qemu VM build to be able to play all games in it (to hide the vm from os and all anti-cheats, for Valorant).

that case is very nice. i love what they are doing with cases now. my last build was in 08 and the cases were far short of what they are now. i just finished a new build last month, i went with the Phanteks NV7 and the outcome was awesome. it was so nice to work in that case, and the lian li fans look great inside. wish i could find some reverse fans for it. the thing that really made the nv7 a winner for me was the door on the back of the case to hide all the cables. My case is on the floor in the middle of the room so wires hanging out the back isnt ideal.

that EVO XL is quite large, but seeing the SMA8 in the background, even being farther away you can still tell its a fair bit larger than the EVO XL

I'm glad that case manufacturers are still putting in drive cages for HDDs. Because as someone that *LIKES* using HDDs because they're cheaper for more, and don't ruin themselves by using their own storage, I enjoy having a few of them

Jay, if you could choose ANY case to build and mod daily (literally), what would you choose if: It can't be a terrarium like this one. Either strong airflow or full mesh. Exceedingly easy to modify things. You don't have to pull apart the cable management system (CMS) in order to get at things. (probably doesn't exist). It doesn't have to look beautiful but it should NOT require that I buy proprietary stuff.

I just bought this case, and am getting ready to transfer my components into it, in the reverse orientation. I am having an absolutely IMPOSSIBLE time getting the side glass panel to snap into place without having the plastic locking clips popping out of the case. The back panel locks in place very easily, but the glass side panel is treating me like a red headed step child.

EK released a distro plate that fits in the front of the case. It'll work with 3 420mm radiators! CPU and GPU blocks. This could be one epic hardline build to rival skunkworks

They sell these adapters you can put on your lian li case to extend the glass. They are 3d printed. I printed mine but some people sell on etsy. My trio 3080 ti with waterblock was sticking out of my case and i used those adapters. I can send you guys pics if u want.

I managed to fit 8 drives in my O11 Dynamic XL, 2*3.5 and 6*2.5, one of the only case that supports this kind of Crazy setup, it's also cooled by a 240 super thick i think it's like a triple pass and a regular 360
