Another good way to cook eggs that's really consistent is to use a vegetable steamer basket. Fill the pot until the water is just below the basket, bring to a boil, add eggs and cover. Soft boil is 8 minutes, hard at 11 when eggs are fresh from the fridge. Another good thing about this technique, the water is boiling in just a minute or two.

My father was a patent attorney back in the 60’s-90’s. He worked with the inventor on getting the patent for the square egg maker. The inventor thought that everyone in the US would want one! His reason was that there were many appetizers that had the square shape like the square rye bread and cheese that were made for his square egg maker. He believed that you would get the full bread covered with his invention. My father passed the prototype down to me and I went to many parties where it was the topic of conversation on how I made the square eggs. It was so much fun!!!!!

I bought the SCI egg cube gadget after watching this video. It was delivered yesterday and so today I wanted to try it out. I boiled three eggs and after they were done I scooped one out while leaving the other the pot of hot water after taking the pot off the burner and leaving the e lid on to keep the water warm. The first one was a little hot. I ran some cold water on it so I could peel the egg. I used eggland best eggs. They say they were large, but maybe not quite large enough. The final product was definitely cool looking, but the egg wasn’t exactly a squarish cube. The corners on every side are a bit roundish. As of this moment two are out of the mold while the third is in the fridge. The eggs are very pleasing to the eye. Three eggs, 20 minutes egg so about an hour to prep. I think it’s worth it. I eat a lot of boiled eggs so Maybe not something I would do every time, but still worth it. I compare it to colored eggs you might make for Easter. As long as the eggs weren’t cracked while dying the eggs you can still peel and eat the boiled egg inside. Of course you’re not going to boil and dye your eggs every time. I think the SCI egg cyber is an awesome gadget.

Best peeling method is to 1st crack the egg in a few areas, then roll it around on a hard surface using your palm until the whole shell is broken into very small pieces. The shell comes right off. As good as that works, it works even better if you use older eggs. Older eggs peel a lot easier, even without using that method.

The easiest to peel hard boiled eggs I have ever made are with the instant pot. Place about a cup of water in the bottom of the pot and then put the trivet in the pot. Put the eggs on the trivet (as many as you want) and then pressure cook manual for 5 minutes. When the 5 minutes is up let the eggs remain in the pot an additional 5 minutes before releasing the remaining pressure. Transfer the eggs to an ice bath for 5 minutes before peeling. I think you will be amazed at how easily the eggs peel. I have used this method to hard boil my eggs ever since I discovered it.

Easy peel hardboiled eggs: take from boiled water (or InstantPot which I now use!). Put in cool water. As soon as you can touch them, hit each end to crack shell and back in cold water. This allows water to seep between egg and the shell and they peel very easily!
