We at GTN love finding the weirdest and wackiest races, and the World Bog Snorkelling Championships certainly fits that category! Mark went to Wales to find out all about this unique event and, of course, he had to enter himself into the race for perhaps the muddiest 60-metre swim of his life!

With an ATV, UTV, or truck... I have. They make snorkels for vehicles... in the U.S. we have a sport of the same name but with those modified vehicles, in fact it's basically the same sport but with those vehicles. It's mostly a rural people sport... farm folk and the like.

I absolutely love that GTN not only features weird races like this, but participates! One of the best things about the multisport world is that there are so many different events out there, and it sure seems like the triathletes I know want to try them all. Love it... well done Mark!

All the best events start in a pub, I did a super hilly race a few months back called the Hampshire hoppit. So there you go GTN, a challenge for next year, you get unlimited pints at the end of the race of the local brew in the custom finishers pint glass.

In observation on Neils swim. Possible improvement : cut the back of the snorkel from the top 4-6 inches as it never went in the water. Less dead air in the snorkel, better aerobic oxygen utilization. I was there watching my wife and son. However one metal knee and a medial meniscus tear on the other knee sadly leave me as a spectator. Well done Mark.
