Evaporust if I'm in a hurry, vinegar if I have time to let it sit. I'm definitely looking for the spray on Rustoleum stuff. Great video as always. Thank you for the information

Without looking at the video. I say Vinegar. Now I will watch the video. Now I watched it. Vinegar needs more time, but I will look for Rust - Oleum because of the re-usability. Nice test!

I used Pinesol and hot water on a tank with a lot of old gas varnish in it. Worked better than I thought it would. After the varnish was gone I used Evaporust to clear out any rust. I didn't have any problems with flash rust once I was done.

I’ve mixed The Works with plain vinegar for good results on tanks - but flash rusting is quick and real. So I like your solution of following up with Evaporust - and since it’s doing lightweight work at that point, you could reuse a bunch. Thanks for the video!

Good test for all us classic motorcycle mechanics 👍🏻 I've just started using evapo-rust, it's brilliant , leaves the paint and removes all the rust, leaving a clean metal finish - treated a batch of rusty indicator brackets recently, it was like magic !

I used Evaporust to de-rust a 42 year old petrol tank last year. I did it twice using the same fluid (I didn't buy enough first time so the cleaning was only partial despite moving the tank around) and it's still clean now. It needs to be 20 deg C or warmer, at first I left it in an outside building in Northern England and nothing occurred but when I brought it inside the house the magic happened

I prefer the works. I was cleaning dishes and I found a old knife I been looking for ages it was rusty but not much so I used the works. You have to put the rusted metal on that chemical for an hour it should eat up the rust. The only thing is that the metal gonna look all burned but you have to use a sander to take care of it.

Rustoleum Rust Dissolver active ingredient is phosphoric acid. There are lots of cheap products containing that ingredient. Evapo-Rust and Metal Rescue won't eat good metal. Thanks for the video.

Didn’t know you could reuse some of these, I’ve been throwing money away lol. You have to be careful with vinegar, if left too long it will burn thru the tanks. Sometimes with rusty nuts and bolts I’ll put them in a ziplock bag with 3 in 1 oil, until I’m ready to use them, it takes rust off and pre lubes.

I bought some of that Rustoleum rust dissolver gel spray on Amazon after watching your last video. I'm not a fan of vinegar for a gas tank. It works ok for rusty nuts and bolts though. For the inside of a gas tank I like to Evaporust. It's expensive but it works great and isn't as caustic. I used vinegar on a tank once and it got rid of the rust but this intense rust/corrosion stuff show up a couple days later.

These are all acids. I needed to get rust out of a rolled over edge. I used Muriatic Acid. The hard stuff! I think it was about $10 gal. You must wear full face shield, gloves, and be careful. It took 10 minutes. It will blind, burn, etc if you are careless.

To prevent the flash rusting, dip the parts in distilled water & that prevents the rust coming back

@@motorcyclerewind learned that one after de-rusting my Suzuki gt750 fuel tank,after degreasing it & removing all the loose rust,I filled it with evaporust & left it for a few days & the end result was amazing,after a few days it had flash rusted,I did a bit of searching the internet & came up with distilled water to prevent the rust returning,so I did the evaporust treatment again & used the distilled water,& it worked, the rust hasn’t returned,& that was 3 years ago
